Seems the press is roundly panning the President's speech as "empty" and "banal". Oh well, I guess you had to be there. Meanwhile, topping Drudge at the moment….
    8.1% - unemployment rate
    +96,000 - new jobs added
368,000 DROPPED OUT - Number of Americans that stopped looking for work
88,921,000 'NOT IN LABOR FORCE' - Number of people in limbo.
4 more years?? - No thanks.

Is there such a thing as "emptychairophobia"?
Because I’m pretty sure rescheduling this event to a much smaller venue, due to a morbid fear of empty seats, is a symptom which will be exacerbated by the empty speechifying and empty promises.
Good thing he has Obamascare to pay for his meds.

What a total fkg moron!!!!! he takes fkg credit for shit that went down before his TERMINAL time in office. Stuff that was set up and in place before he got voted in because he is a n. I liked his speech much better than the opponent. You can tell he truly wants this country to be a better place for everyone.

His opponent said in his RNC speech "Business and growing jobs is about taking risk, sometimes failing, sometimes succeeding, but always striving." I would agree completely, some of Obama's risks haven't fared well, but he is striving to make this economy better. But unlike his opponent, he isn't going to cut taxes for the wealthy because that has never solved the problem in the past and it won't now. I'd rather have a president that takes new risks rather than reusing old unfair tactics that don't work.

  7. 7

Ya know, you should even put headlines because everyone knows what the deadline will be before you even write it. As with the other 10 or so posts about the DNC, your use of hyperbole to describe everything and everyone associated with the DNC is pathetic.

  8. 8

    Re: Independant – Totally agree.

  9. 9

Here's an observation. Four years ago, a post like this would've generated hundreds of comments. Now, after an hour, it gets less than 10. Oh my. This is bad news for Obama (lack of enthusiasm) and Perez (huge loss of eyeballs). Perez's problem is what I call the Oprah effect. Once she went whole-hog Obama, her ratings plunged and now her show is gone. Perez has gone all-in on the LGT issues and readers seemingly have evaporated. I NEVER see a post generate triple-digit comments anymore. As for Obama, I think that ship has sailed.

Love how people totally negate the major decision President Obama made to go ahead with the operation to kill bin Laden. Knowing this was going down, he calmly taped an episode of Oprah (I'ms sure she was furious she had taped this a week earlier) and did his jokes at the White House Correspondents dinner with a total poker face. Calm under pressure. That is some good president-ing. Yeah, I made up the word, but that was such a tough decision, he would have wussed out, but now bin Laden is dead…and the GOP wants everyone to forget it happened. Why can't they give props where it's due? Geeeez.

  12. 12

Re: aimsterrr – No one is diminishing the assassination of OBL. We all hailed it when it happened and thank the President for making the call. The problem is, issuing a kill order and leading the country out of economic misery are two different things. The former is a no-brainer, the latter takes something far greater. This is where many believe Obama has failed. Me included. Certainly, killing OBL makes us safer, but it doesn't promote the creation of a single permanent job.

More like passionately lies… I'd have a million times more respect for him if he simply admitted his policies were not as effective as he had hoped. The reason why people say he has failed is because he did so according to his own promises. He said he'd bring the deficit down by 5 trillion, instead, he added 6 trillion to it. He said he'd bring unemployment down to 6%, it's be 43 consecutive months at 8% or higher (real unemployment is near 15%). He said real wages and real incomes would go up, they went down as cost of living went up (price of gas is through the roof). Now he thinks we should all be satisfied when he says that his new plans will cut the deficit by 4 trillion? If you the math 10 trillion (inherited) + 6 trillion (first term Obama) - 4 trillion (second term Obama) means that he still has added 2 trillion. The guy is dishonest and has no integrity. He himself said he would have to be accountable if he didn't come through for his people, yet he is running from the facts like a coward. The debates should be a blood bath in favor of the Republicans.

"It's the economy stupid" — Bill Clinton
P.S. Obummer declined going after Bin Laden 3 times before he finally said yes.
He was afraid that this decision would get out to the public.

  16. 16

Meanwhile blatant voter suppression, blatant special interest mega payola, and blatant distortion of facts remain on the back burner.Just where the GOP want them. How courageous of you Mr.Putin, err Mr.Romney.

  17. 17

Re: Squirrel – Um…Where's Romney's jobs plan? He said he had a plan to create 12 million jobs. that's it. No information, no specifics… The CBO has already projected 12 million new jobs in the next 4 years with no change in current policy. Is Romney going to keep Obama's in place? lol lol lol FAIL!
Wonder what the jobs number would be if the house of tealiban didn't block the AJA and so many govt jobs weren't eliminated as republican congress and governors insisted they had to be.
It defies reality to blame Obama for everything wrong with the economy today while pretending Bush was never president for 8 years, he wasn't the 1 who crashed the economy so horribly and economists didn't estimate 8-12 years to get things back to normal in that aftermath no matter who the president is!

  18. 18

    Which Way, America?
    (A) The way of the Founders/Framers
    (B) The way of the European Union/USSR/UN model
    There’s no middle road.
Greece is at 25% unemployment doing the exact same economic polices that Obummer is forcing upon us.
The Spanish are leaving Spain in droves because they’re going belly up.
They went BIG in green energy and technology also know as chasing unicorns.
    It's nut cutting time, America.

  19. 19

I watched both speeches. anyone else notice how Romney made no mention of our troops or the fact that we are still at war let alone what he plans to do about it? Just thought i'd throw that out there.

  20. jerLL says – reply to this

Obama's attack on success and deliberate attempt to divide the country via class warfare is shameful. Mitt Romney is someone who represents the American Dream. No one handed him a silver spoon. He worked hard, got a good education, started Bain at 38 years old and made an excellent income to provide jobs, save companies and take care of his family with. This is what everyone around the world wants, to be paid well to do what they love to do. Obama is spreading jealousy and hatred by trying to shame him into showing his tax returns. Who cares if he's been paying 13%, it's the law of the US. Why would he decide to pay more for no reason? If he did something illegal, he'd be in jail by now. If Obama was so honest, he'd point out that his celeb backers like Clooney have and will continue to make more than $25 million a year for making movies. Not that they don't deserve it, but it's hypocritical. No one bats an eye when celebs make 30, 40, 50, 60, even $70 million a year, but for a man to work hard and honestly, he's a terrible person? Would America be happy if Romney ran for president knowing that he lost $25 million a year? Come on people, WAKE UP. If Romney, lost money, it was his own. I can guarantee you that he never lost over $500 million on a single deal like Obama did (Solyndra), and that's YOUR MONEY HE LOST!

Re: blackviolet – Romney's job plan is to cut taxes for big business. That has never worked in the past - it only results in skyrocketing pay checks for execs while they continue to scale back on employees. Also - I totally agree with what you say about congress. Congress needs to take responsibility for a huge amount of what has gone wrong with the economy, but all they do is point fingers.

  22. 22

Re: blackviolet – Forgive me but I'll roll the dice on the businessman over the community organizer when it comes to job creation.

Re: aimsterrr – Are you fucking kidding me? Really tough decision? The military did all the work (the plans put into place by the previous administration) and all Obama had to do when he was told about what they found was to give them the go-ahead. Boy, yeah, that took real courage. If he said no, the entire country would have rallied and called for his impeachment. He had no choice but to go ahead and give the OK.

Re: blackviolet – Black violet: I agree. But in terms of campaigning - he doesn't need to. Obama said in the beginning of his term that he would have us out of the middle east in 12-18 months and now we have WIDER wars (more wars) that seem to be handing off to the next president or the 2nd term of Obama. In other words, ALL of the Presidential candidates work for the bankers. They are all paid off and keep the warring going regardless. This will continue for 25-50 more years. 31. 31

Re: blackviolet – Duh!! I tipped my hat to the man and thanked him for taking out OBL. I don't harbor any resentment towards our President. I just believe we're stuck in the doldrums with no wind in sight. We need some new thinking at the top. I'm not arguing deficits. Everyone knows both parties are responsible for the $16 trillion. In fact, I have no doubt Romney will do more of the same initially. No pol has the nuts to actually cut spending in a REAL manner. I stand by my opinion and will vote accordingly.

  33. 33

Re: blackviolet – comment 28 - you are right again - the Bin Laden hit could have gone wrong in so many ways - not just the actual hit, but there was the real possibility of retaliation. Add to that the effects of making him a martyr - there are many who think his death makes Al Queda stronger - it was not an easy decision at all. Obama did give credit to the people that made it happen, and also publicly recognized that it was a process that began in the previous administration, but had anything gone wrong - it would all be on his shoulders.

  34. 34

Re: Squirrel – comment 31 - You talk about new thinking at the top - as do a lot of people, but new thinking at the top is meaningless if everything grinds to a halt in congress. What we need in more co-operation in the middle - then those ideas - whether they be Obama's or Romney's - can actually come to fruition.

People who keep saying that the speech was moved from the stadium to the arena because of fear of empty seats are idiots. I live in Charlotte, and people waited in line for hours to get those stadium seats. Many had to be turned away because demand was so high. It was all over the news. Then, after years of drought, Mother Nature decided to unleash more rain than we've seen in ages the week of the DNC. Yes, the sky was blue for part of Thursday, but there also was the predicted heavy rain. The Dems didn't want to disappoint people, but it was only for the safety of everyone that Obama's speech was moved inside.

  37. 37

Re: rosebud99 – Agreed and as Bob Woodward's new book glaringly illustrates, President Obama is no Bill Clinton when it comes to sparking action in the "middle". Clinton was brilliant at making someone else's "good idea" his own. Obama's ego is too big to accept anyone else's ideas as better than his own. Clinton saw an opportunity and pressed forward with ideas that generated in the House, adopted them as his own, and to this day is heralded as a visionary and great leader. Obama is small compared to him. It was obvious Wednesday night, wasn't it??

  38. 38

    Re: Catalpa
    B+ = extra baloney.
The weather forecast was ZERO (0) Z-E-R-O chance of rain.
    Not 5%, but ZERO.
Do you really think Obummer would pass on the opportunity to not be standing in a stadium of 70,000 screaming fans, even in the rain? Seriously?

  39. 39

Re: Squirrel – Clinton was very good - and a visionary, but I don't think he encountered the same level of opposition that Obama has dealt with. The primary focus of the GOP for the past four years has been to oppose Obama - regardless of the effects it has on the country. No other president in history has had to deal with this level of blind opposition. Unfortunately, this polarized politics has become the norm, and no matter who wins, without co-operation, nothing will get done.

  40. 40

The thing that bothers me is that the people of this country thought that when Obama was elected that he was going to magically fix all the problems from when W was pres. That is just silly. It takes time to undo bad business people. Yes, I'm saying this country is like a business. You can't turn anything this messed up around in a short period of time. i'm voting for obama. I like the fact he was brought up in the middle class and understands the importance of keeping it strong. We make up more of this country than the rich do.

  41. 41

    Re: Squirrel
    Yup, Clinton outshined Obummer.
The surprise last night was with Vice President Joe "Ruprecht" Biden doing a better propaganda speech than Obozo.

So, count yourself among the idiots. Like I said, I live in Charlotte. It POURED part of Thursday. Forecasts were for rain, off and on. When the decision was made the day before, we had horrible storms and rain. Obama's people couldn't put off making a decision until Thursday morning, so they made the call to move the speech. I don't have to be an Obama or Romney supporter to be telling you the truth here. But you won't listen anyway, so why am I wasting time typing?

Do any of you know how much most of the military hates Obama?? I watched a video the other day and they are FURIOUS over his claim that HE is the reason Osama is dead. In his speach about it all you heard was I, I, and more I….he gave up seal unit names, names of the navy seals, their operations, their plans….he put their lives in danger…those are supposed to be secret units and missions and he gave ALL the details and even had a meeting with people from hollywood to offer up details so a movie can be made! The seals were livid! He took ALL the glory and gave away ALL their operation secrets and names of idividuals…..when will you people realize he doesnt give a fuck about you or your country and he is out to serve himself and make himself a celebrity….Jesus you are morons……youtube "Dishonorable Disclosures" and see what your president is really all about…HIMSELF!

Re: Squirrel – How fast do you expect things to turn around? Obama inherited the mess stupid Bush did by getting rid of the financial regulations on the housing market, after that it was a domino affect. People expect Obama to wave his magic wand and everything will be good again. That is not reality. No matter who was in office, this country would not be back to the way it was before.

I am tired of people bashing Obama. At least Obama fights for the middle class. Romney is for the rich. And as a college student, I don't want to be in debt when I finish school. Also, Romney expects the middle class to pick up the slack from the tax breaks on the rich. That will be at least another $2000 a home. Are we better off than 4 years ago? Yes, jobs are starting to be created, but it'll take time. The economy is just starting to heal. My parents make $15,000 a year. They are now able to save some extra money each month, not a lot, but just a hundred here or there. We were in big trouble when the ecomony collapsed, my dad lost his business because of it. We are starting to recover and everyone else will to. IT WILL JUST TAKE TIME!!!

  56. Kari says – reply to this

    Re: jerLL

No Romney is for the rich. We wants to give tax breaks to the rich. The same thing Bush did. Guess what, IT DIDN"T WORK! And he wanted to let the automotive industry in Michigan fail. As a Michigander, unacceptable!!! Now GM is doing good because of the bailout the president provided. Also, as a college student, I don't not want Romney raising student loan rates and cutting financial aid. Stupid republican Synder already did that. Going back to the bush policies that got us into this mess, pass! His american dream is only for the rich is this country. The middle class has always and always will be the foundation for a good economy.

And he never says what he's going to do as president. He has all these ideas but he can never back them up. He can't state specifically what he's going to cut because he doesn't even know! He says ask he when I get into office. No tell me now!

Re: Kari – Hi Kari, I feel for you and your family. I hate to burst your bubble, but if you take student loans, then you'll probably have some debt after graduation. Also, I can understand your frustration. I recently graduated school with an accounting degree. Upon graduating, I began competing with job seekers with 10-20 years experience to my none. It's been very hard to get by for the past 18 months. I've lost confidence in this administration and think that we need a new leader. You can disagree but that's how I feel.

Beautiful ! Once again a reminder that some presidents can keep their campaign promises. I can't understand the derision when he has done only what he said he would do. Not fast enough for you? Not easy enough? I'll pass on some of my grandparents wisdom: Nothing worth having is easy and If you do it right the first time you save time. Well guess what america it wasn't done right and so now we have to clean up the mess and that takes time.

Re: blackviolet – Have you actually been to Drudge Report? Drudge Report is a news aggregation site, meaning that the site contains links to stories from Mainstream media news sites both Liberal and Conservative alike. Just because the site is run by a conservative does not mean all the articles are conservative. If you've actually been to the website, you'd notice some links come from NBC, ABC, CNN, etc. (and just last week, they had a top link to a popularity poll with Obama ahead of Romney). I'd rather take my news from a website that links both sides of the political spectrum than take it from the likes of 'news' sources like Media Matters.

  61. 61

Re: Trogdora – Teabaggers go to drudge for the disparaging headlines, not the links. Media matters is a non-profit org which calls bullsh*t on right wing lies & does not claim to be "news". So what's your point?
