Ahh! We live for these tales of real life heroism!!

Billy Campbell is best known for starring in The Rocketeer, an underrated cult action flick from the early '90s.

After his stunning display of courage on Monday, we bet this actor will forever be remembered for his bravery at sea!!

While sailing his shiny new schooner from Nova Scotia to Rhode Island, Billy ran across three men clinging to a capsized boat for their dear lives in the ice-cold waters of Buzzard Bay, MA.

Billy and his crew somehow spotted the men well after the sun had set and rescued them from what could have been a gruesome death at sea.

The three capsized sailors were extremely fortunate Billy stumbled across them, as they had no emergency lights on their vessel nor any way to signal for help.

All three were treated for hypothermia but seem to have recovered nicely.

Kudos to Mr. Campbell, a fine actor and an outstanding citizen!

One day they will surely make a film about his heroics!

He is currently starring in A & E's highly regarded The Killing, was a principle in both The 4400 and also Once & Again (with Sela Ward). Was once engaged to Jennifer Connelly, his Rocketeer co-star. Campbell is from MONEY, did not need to work but likes it and is a BIG sailor. The 4400 let him take a year off to sail around the world and then, he got to come back. He is 6'5" and I've met him at sailing events. Nice guy and CUTE!

As a former sailor and sailboat owner, those folks were flat out stupid for not having flares, a marine radio, and life jackets, etc. They are lucky to be alive in those cold waters.
