Does this man not care about his career!?

While talking to the press to promote On The Road at the Toronto International Film Festival, Garrett Hedlund admitted he WAS "approached" to star in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire as Finnick Odair.

Fortunately, it sounds like we're just being dramatic and it's really no big whoop in the grand scheme of things.

After confirming the studio's interest in him for the highly sought-after part, he explained he was too busy getting HJ's from Kristen Stewart to even read the books, saying:

"I was working on this film at that time. We shot the whole film in 23 days and I was really immersed in it. I couldn't get around [to reading the Hunger Games novels] … Everybody around me is flipping out about the books, and I didn't really have the time to sit down lately to read any book, not just Hunger Games, But I've got a couple [projects] on my plate that I'm looking forward to reading now."

And we wish him the best of luck with those. Hopefully they're as much fun to shoot as KStew's handywork was to receive! LOLz!

Snow White and the Hunstman actor Sam Claflin beat out our personal favorite, Trevor Donovan, for the role and we're sure it's going to take his career to the next level.

best decision he's ever made. he's too good for finnick, him being a part of that franchise would've just watered him down to a pretty boy obsession like pattinson and it would hurt him moreso because he's actually a good actor that takes his shit seriously as you can see (way better than pattinson for sure). plus hes a super private guy so I don't think he would've enjoyed being fully thrown out into the spotlight 24/7 or get stalked everywhere he goes. and let's be honest, as much as everybody is "flipping out" about the books, the movie sucks in comparison.

I don't think he would have been good as Finnick anyway. I not excited about the guy who got the part as Finnick. I'm really unhappy the the casting of the Johanna role, the women maybe a decent actress but she is soooo wrong for this part.

Personally I think Garrett Hedlund is too good for Finnick. I can see why a lot of people root for him - having read the books. But I like that he didn't take it just because of it's major success - and for that I give a lot of respect for. He likes to know his material before he decides taking upon a role and for him having not read the books - he probably didn't feel comfortable to do justice to the character as well as being super busy with upcoming film projects. Either way, Garrett will be a success with or without Catching Fire on his resume. He's one incredible actor that's for sure :)
