But we can still do better! C'mon Gleeks and fifth judges! The season has begun!
Simon Cowell can't be thrilled, but he shouldn't be too concerned. X Factor's ratings in the target demo dipped a bit, but his reality singing competition still helped FOX win the night.
The season 2 premiere was easily beaten by both The Voice and America's Got Talent on Wednesday, but even without NBC's biggest competitor, the latest episode dropped three tenths of a point in the coveted adults 18-49 rating.
Although Cowell and company gained over a half million total viewers on Thursday night, it slipped from a 3.4 adults rating to a 3.1.
Glee, on the other hand, attracted more of the target audience to the network when it came on at 9 p.m. and scored a 3.3 18-49 rating. However, last season's premiere garnered a 4.0 rating in that category.
Now that AGT is over, which attracted 10.5 million total viewers last night, maybe a few more will tune in to watch Britney Spears, Demi Lovato and L.A. Reid pick America's next singing superstar!
