Lil Wayne Takes Jabs At Frank Ocean For Sexual Preference!

| Filed under: Gay Gay GayMusic MinuteSad SadLil WayneFrank OceanLGBT

Not cool at all.

So you guys remember Lil Wayne, right? Of course you do!

Well, he decided that he wanted to do an auto-tune remix of Future's Turn On The Lights, but not really put it on anything cohesive, like a mixtape or an album. He just wanted to do it, apparently.

So why not put it on something? We suspect it's probably because he takes a verbal jab at Frank Ocean's sexuality, and he knew it wouldn't fly.

The lyrics go:

"Tell her I skate/ I ain't got no worries/ No Frank Ocean, I'm straight."

We thought the hip hop scene was progressing, ESPECIALLY with Frank's beautifully put confessional included in his album debut.

Even if, somehow, it wasn't meant as a jab — why do it anyway? What purpose does that serve?

We can only really shake our heads at this, and hope that it becomes a thing of the past sometime soon.

Oh, and he uses the word "retarded" as a slur as well. If you feel like subjecting to yourself to that, you can listen to it (below) for yourself!

I'm a guy who likes guys, and I don't find the above line offensive at all. Frankly, the fact that Wayne uses the word "retarded" so freely is what we should be focussed on here, and not the Frank Ocean comment. I really don't think his intention was to be homophobic. Perez is just over reacting again.

Perez, you're a hypocrite and a half! You make me sick.

I think that you really need to chill out Perez and stop taking things so seriously. I don't believe that what he said was meant to be mean at all. So stop being so sensitive.

    God Perez, shut up

  5. 5

Rappers can defile women, religion, and race and you have no problem BUT calling Frank Oceans gay, which he openly is, is where you draw the line?! REALLY!!!

    Re:hi: EXACTLY! Love to you!

this has to be one of the dumbest songs I have ever listened to. On another note, I dont think I know one gay person on the planet that finds Lil Wayne attractive.

  8. 8

Frank Ocean is gay. so what?

  9. Phil says – reply to this

I think Wayne is a wack rapper, but i don't think that line was offensive or that he even meant it as offensive. He was just doing a rap metaphor. I'm more worried that people actually think lil wayne has any talent at all no matter what he says

  10. Frances27 says – reply to this

In what world is that offensive?? Does he just look for things to bitch about?

For those that don't know, the thing in African American culture, hip hop culture, etc. is to say No Homo before on guy makes a comment or compliment to another guy that might otherwise sound gay. Like "Yo, I'm likin' that shirt, no homo". Wayne isn't the first to say it, and alot of less evolved young men of the AA and hip hop culture have taken to substituting Frank Ocean's name before the any such comment. Instead of No Homo now, it's now No Frank Ocean. It is meant as a slight. Making fun of Frank and making Frank the butt of a joke. I'm a die-hard Frank Ocean fan, but honestly it's to be expected and I'm surprised that Lil Wayne was the first to say it on recording. The hip hop culture isn't as evolved as we all think. At least Frank doesn't seem bothered by it and hasn't commented on it..

Not really a job, but ok… he didn't use a derogatory term and he was just stating a fact about himself.

  13. Washburn says – reply to this

What kind of specie is Lil Wayne? I mean, man…look at that damn pic. Doesn't look human to me

  14. 14

I hope LiL Wayne and Frank O beat the crap out of you. Together.

  15. Ojsakila says – reply to this

You are as mean and hateful as anyone out there. So fucking what if he calls him gay!? YOU'RE GAY!!

  16. 16

So rappers can call girls "bitches" and "hos" but they aren't allowed to SPEAK of sexuality??? He's obviously singing about a girl…..sooo he made word play. There was nothing insulting whatsoever. Why talk about it??? Well you have a fine time ripping on people for issues that have no purpose to talk about, pot…meet kettle?

  17. 17

you never gave a shit about frank until he came out.
channel orange is his second album, nostalgia, ultra was his first.

  18. 18

oh and you do realise frank is bi not gay- tyler the creator said so on his formspring.

  19. 19

so now calling gay men gay is offensive?

  20. 20

Re: dani42 – you sound really stupid.

  21. 21

That was not offensive however the comment he made make Lil Wayne sound very insecure with himself. By the way he is super ugly.

Re: WhyCantILeaveComments – i know, right???? nobody gave 2 shits about Ocean until he said he was gay and now he's all famous…..and perez is all up his ass…..so fucking retarded, im totally convinced perez hates heteros….the minute someone comes out they suddenly become like God in Perez's eyes where prior to it he didnt care at all…he's so stupid

  23. really? says – reply to this

This country has become so sensitive it is ridiculous esp comming from someone who used to make fun of females for the way they looked, I will bet 1000 dollars Frank Ocean didn't take offense

  24. roger rabid says – reply to this

Lil'Wayne going after Frank Ocean? Does he need to be reminded about how he used take great joy in having Birdman's tongue down his young lil throat. He is an obvious closet case lol Either way no place on hating on anyones preferences Live and let live. He should do a google search on him and birdman to see what comes up lol

  25. 25

    Preference? did you mean Orientation?

  26. 26

Holy shit Perez you so dumb.

  27. Silas says – reply to this

  28. 28

OMG, he implied that Frank Ocean wasn't straight? When Frank Ocean has openly stated this himself?

    You're pathetic.

  29. 29

I'm confused again PERVEZ, you said "ESPECIALLY with Frank's beautifully put confessional included in his album debut." so, let me get this straight, telling someone you are gay constitutes "confessing" taking your logic further you must believe that being GAY IS A SIN. strange position for a gay guy to take.

  30. 30

I'm even more confused PERVEZ,,you said "Lil Wayne Takes Jabs At Frank Ocean For Sexual Preference!",,, sexual preference???? meaning to prefer, indicating a CHOICE. So what is it?? A CHOICE, OR what. You have said 1000s of time that gay is not a choice, you are born that way, please MAKE UP YOUR 100 BRAIN CELL MIND

  31. JOHNRENOLDS says – reply to this

perez quit bitching about everything and actually do something for once in your life dude who gives a f*** wat lil wayne says he says shitt all the time thts just one song u heard if u listen to any other songs from him youd bitch about every word he says your not cool !!! smh

  32. Zoe says – reply to this

I agree with what Perez had to say, with respect to the comment of "What purpose does it serve?" It doesn't matter if the comment was meant to be homophobic or harmless. Why do people keep talking about sexual preference like it's a big deal? No one cares. It's a lame line for such a good songwriter, he should be talking about something more relevant and interesting. No one cares if he's straight or not. Seems pretty pointless to me.

  33. Danyale says – reply to this

I love this song! I’m a huge fan of both Lil Wayne and Frank Ocean. Yes Wayne says retarded and makes a comment on Frank Ocean’s sexuality but no one’s talking about how awesome this song is. If you’re a Lil Wayne fan you know he uses pop culture in his material, that’s what makes his songs relevant and open for anyone to listen unlike other rappers. I love Frank Ocean songs as well and it’s a shame he’s gay because he’s sexy but *Slow Shrug* he is. We wanted homosexuality to be openly recognized, now that it is we have to accept the fact that it’s a part of today’s “normal” and it’s going to be referenced in songs and movies.

  34. Derek says – reply to this

No one should even take it serious cuz his new mixtape was nothing but corny ass lines over beats and this was another corny one lmao

  35. roy batty says – reply to this

Lil Wayne is exactly the "bullshit" that Frank was talking about when he quoted lil b on his blog. Lil Wayne kissing birdman on the lips and saying he is straight…..BULLSHIT.

  36. Hiphop says – reply to this

After getting owned up by someone as soft as will.i.am dont you think taking shots at weezt, who is gang affiliated can kill you within a moment's notice?

But of course he wouldnt waste his time with you. No homo

  37. 37

I dont find that the comment about Frank wasn't that bad but that whole song in general was just disgusting and terrible. I dislike Lil wayne with a strong passion!

  38. levi says – reply to this

I'm gay, and I agree with perez. Frank ocean is not straight but he's not gay either. He's bisexual, so lil wayne's lyrics are just meant to be homophobic. Being bisexual means you like both girls and boys. Girls do not only date straight guys. They can date *bisexual* guys too. Oh, and to that first comment (@hi) , um you're not gay honey. You're just a homophobic straight guy masquerading as a gay guy to make perez look bad.

  39. Kristina says – reply to this

All of you are fucking stupid as hell. Just because Frank came out with a letter saying that his first love was a man, it does not mean he's gay. He doesn't label himself as bisexual either, and if you any of you actually liked him as much as you act like you do you would have seen his interviews where he specifically says that.
