Mitt Romney Attempts To Explain Himself After Insulting 47% Of Americans

| Filed under: Icky Icky PooPolitikBarack Obama

Mitt Romney wasn't expecting any cameras during a private fundraiser dinner in Boca Raton, Florida on May 17, so he was finally able to be honest with supporters about his views and ideas for the United States of America.

Unfortunately for the Republican Presidential candidate, there WAS a camera there and it captured footage of him insulting a little less than HALF of the population.

Not only did he generalize 47% of Americans voting for Barack Obama as a bunch of government freeloaders who don't pay income taxes because they have no motivation to succeed in life, but expressed fears of the Hispanic population ruining the nation if they support the current president!

He's been hitting the campaign trail to talk up his plans for reviving the economy and lowering unemployment rates, but has yet to give any pertinent details as to HOW he'll do so. Behind closed doors, however, Romney wasn't afraid to give an honest answer.

Even though he "can never predict what the markets will do," he states they "will be happy" if he gets elected and he'll boost the economy "without actually doing anything."

That sounds pretty easy! Why hasn't Obama considered this plan? Ha!

Since half of the country was a little put off by how he really feels about them, Romney tried to explain himself at a press conference last night (above). Before U watch that though, c-c-check out the remarks that are causing the backlash … AFTER THE JUMP!!!

Re: teeter totter – The liberal media has taken his statement out of context. We get it. You don't. The media is running this election and will take every opportunity to does anything Romney says.

Re: OBAMA! – are you kidding me? Please stop with this racist bullshit card you constantly use to justify your stance. So sick of every thought revolving around race. Obama could be purple and it still does not change the fact he is bankrupting this country.

I can't believe the idiocy in some of these comments. Bush ruined the economy during his two terms.. Obama was CLEAR when he got elected and stated that it would take a really long time to get out of this enormous hole of debt that was created. He also laid out exactly how he was going to do to try and get the economy going at his recent convention. The Republicans on here who've commented that Obama hasn't laid out a solid plan are imbeciles as thhat's all that Obama's focused on in a very clear and articulate fashion. All Romney does is attack, attack, attack.. and sell fear - a typical Reublican strategy that unfortunately works on middle America. I've never heard one tangible strategy from the Republicans about how to get the economy back on track and Romeny's recent gaff about the 47% who "don't matter and don't want to work" shows him clearly to be the entitled rich idiot that we always knew that he was. I can't wait for the debates.. Obama's going to obliterate him!

Romney will NOT win the presidency in November. He has alienated 47% of Americans and there are many Republicans who cannot stand him and, more importantly, do not trust him to run the country. Those of us who have the foresight to realize it, know that Romney is very bad news for America.

Well the fact is that 47% of Americans are on some form of assistance. Which means half of us are paying for the other half. So what happens when it becomes 53% on assistance? How much can the rest of us take? It's just math, people, and it needs to be examined without a bunch of finger pointing.

Re: hoochpit – so you've fact checked romney and realized that majority of his statements are false right? His statement about obama making it easier for people to stay on welfare longer? False. His statements about how 20 million americans will have to change their health insurance with obamacare? False. His statement about how 47 percent of americans don't pay a federal income tax? True. His other statement about obama getting all 47 percent of the vote of people who don't pay federal income tax? False. Romney is favored among the elderly( a big part of the non federal income tax payers), so romney will also be getting millions of votes from people who don't pay federal income tax (keyword federal, there are other forms of taxes that majority of that 47 percent still pay). Facts are majority of politicians do lie (obama included) or tell half truths. But so do you when you lump all black or hispanics together and all welfare recipients together as one single-minded group. That's called stereotyping. No wonder you like romney

Re: tn belle – "not the lazy and illegal immigrints" wowwwww what a lovely blanket statement. I doubt youre 100% native american, so your ancestors were also once "lazy and illegal immigrints" when they came to america. Also, it seems as though you support gay marriage. I hope you know Mitt "doesn't favor" gay marriage and doesn't recognize same sex relationships"

Re: hmm – It is people like you that make me sick to my stomach. You don't know what the reason may be for someone to need government assistance. They could have lost their job or anything. Don't be so quick to judge because you may find yourself in the same position one day. And welfare is not enough for anyone to live off of.

Re: Danielle – You're a moron. Romney said to the public at the convention that "we" the voters can just go our parents and ask for money to start a busibess. Wake up!! Not everyone have parents that has tons of money!! That was ignorant for him to say especially when we're in a recession and peopme are struggling. He shouldnt be blamed for having wealthy parents, but he needs to wake up and smell the roses because not everyone had the Luxury of living a similar life as his.

Two cars are speeding towards the end of a cliff. In one car, Democrats are going 40 mph while the Republicans in the other car are going 70 mph.

AKA, It's only a matter of time for both.

Cannot wait until this election is over so I can get a vacation from angry political rants for a few years.
