Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong Goes To Rehab After iHeartRadio Meltdown

| Filed under: DrugsMusic MinuteUsherSin CitySad SadGreen DayJustin BieberRehab

Crazzzzzy!!!!! We hope Billie's okay….

Billie Joe Armstrong has checked himself into rehab after his EXTREME tirade at the iHeartRadio Music Festival.

For a quick recap, the Green Day frontman went Captain Insano after his band was cut short so Usher could perform longer.

After lots of swear words, slamming Justin Bieber, and breaking his guitar, reports now say Billie is looking to change his ways.

The rocker will enter rehab for substance abuse and Green Day's rep releases the following statement:

Green day wants to apologize to those they offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas.

The band regretfully must postpone some of their upcoming promotional appearances.

Hang in there, Billie!

I thought this might happen..considering the fact that he seemed drunk or high onstage. I wish him and the band the best of luck. As he said they've been making music for over two decades…can't argue with their success <3.

I still feel like he had every right to be angry about having their set cut short so that Usher could have more time to lip sync and dance. That should have been dealt with better by the people in charge of scheduling the show. And if I had been there watching the show, I would have been angry about losing out on Green Day time, too, and totally entertained by that (admittedly over the top) reaction, since it doesn't seem to happen so much with this band. Obviously, it's unfortunate if Billie Joe has other issues going on, and that was the situation to break the camel's back, and I hope he does get the help he needs.

If it's a 12-Step religious AA/NA cult treatment program he'll be DEAD in a couple months; just like the 12-Step religious cult killed Whitney & tens of millions others it promised its "HIGHER POWER" would help them & DID NOT!

oh billie… i hope he gets fine! we need someone to speak the truth, but in a healthy way! get better !!!

    Re: Katiedora – Totally agree.

Re: Okra Panfry - 12-step programs may not be for everyone but they have helped a lot of people.

I guess not too many people remember a similar incident when Pavarotti was cut short at the Hodgepodge Lodge festival so that Richard Cheese could get more time and Luciano put the microphone to his backside and gave the promoters his version of a 21-gun salute!

Anyone else find it a coincidence that it happens to be around the time of their album release? Can you say free publicity?

  9. 9

Ahh get well soon Billie! <3

if he really needs help, then i hope he gets it . . . BUT . . . if he's doing this as a pr coverup then that's sad because i thought his tirade was kind of awesome . . .

Billy had ever right to be upset! Freedom of speech! Nobody should have been cut short… iHeartRadio should of extended the show! duh

I really hope this is a PR cover up to make Clear Channel love Green Day again. Green Day's label knows that if you piss off Clear Channel, they won't play their music! Billie Joe's rant was awesome, and I've loved Green Day forever..so I really hope he is OK and this is a big cover-up/apology to Clear Channel (who really shouldn't even be offended, they should be happy that a real artist performed at their stupid iheartradio crapfest)

He didn't seem high at all. I'd be pissed too if I had to make room Usher. But he plays punk, punk should not be played on a stage that big. If he wants to be a sellout then he has to realize that teenage girls would rather watch Usher than him.
Watching him freak out after playing Basket Case was pretty hilarious though

Most agree that Usher should have been professionally ushered off when his time was up, so hopefully Billie knows that. Feel better.

    Step 1: Have a meltdown
    Step 2: Go to rehab.
    Step 3: ????
    Step 4: Profit

What drug is he going in for?

  19. Lgbpop says – reply to this

It wasn't all bad, he got a good shot on Bieber

  20. Phs says – reply to this

Re: Linz I believe he is going into rehab to treat his bad taste in music. Early Green Day was really good but now they're not even better than Nickelback.

I think Billie had every right to be irritated, you come all that way to play a festival and then some other artist takes your time? I'd be pretty annoyed as well. And of course good old Green Day left in perfect punk fashion smashing their guitars, I think it an appropriate action :P He spoke the truth in his rant anyway. They deserve respect, they've earned it unlike alot of these artists who are 'overnight successes.

In regards to the substance abuse, this makes me sad because I thought he'd be over that kind of thing with a family with kids and all. But at least he realized the error of his way and is taking measures to fix it rather than living I'm denial. I wish him best of luck and hope he returns to his family and fans soon. :)

Payments of Jizya was always a must for those that denied Muhammad was Allah`s anointed Messenger and Prophet. But it is rare for any Infidel that pays Jizya to be booted out of town or maimed. Students in NYC schools pay Jizya with their lunch money. Meth labs in the Mid-West pay Jizya to cops. White inmates in American prisons pay Jizya to stay alive–it is called punk dues. We all pay Jizya in one form or another. Muslims are not the only ones that use extortion to make a buck.

Perhaps he finally realized that his industry today is all crap and to be cut off for crap music is for the love of money and the 1% executives. Green Day has been around for years and guaranteed they will be more highly regarded than that lil turd.
    Get it straight.

  25. 25

Take the black dye, Hair Mousse and Eyeliner away.
Nothing about Green Day has been "Punk" since… well… dookie/insomniac.
They are a sad sad shell of what they used to be.

I think the rehab thing is a cover up. i'd be pissed too if i had a band that had been around for almost 25 years and they cut my performance short.

    well said gurl Re: ShaundiFoxx

  29. 29

Instead of going to rehab, Armstrong should've been allowed to beat the crap out of Usher. For anger-management therapy, I would offer Armstrong the opportunity to punch Perez in his hideous ape face as often as he needs to to feel better.
Re: ShaundiFoxx – Really, hun? In a healthy way? And how's that done, by sugar-coating it and not expressing any hint of anger? You know what's healthy? Expressing emotion. You know what else is healthy? Strangling liberal assholes like you who don't know what the fuck you're talking about. Armstrong should be allowed to punch YOU in the face too to teach you about healthy expression. Fucktard.

ok i was actually at the show and saw this go down and the news and reports are making it a lot worse than it was….i don't think they should have to apologize for anything and he sounded great and they put on a great show. I couldn't even tell something was up he just swore a lot which so did other people performing. I actually thought the whole thing was pretty entertaining and "his rant" only lasted a few minutes. No big deal. Don't believe all the hype it's being made out to be.

now rockstars have to check themselves into rehab for acting like rockstars.

    what has happend to music?

havent been into green day for awhile but i think i like them now.

if it wasnt for green daythese days there wouldnt be any rock representation at any of these corny showswhich are full of lip synching pop stars and horrible rappers.

    Re: Fantasy

Green Day does not need to resort to this behavior to sell albums. This outburst is just evidence of a non-manufactured celebrity. Kind of refreshing

Maybe he's in rehab but maybe he isn't. I have a theory it's a stunt, check it out.
