The living legend has got nothing left to prove, but that doesn't mean he won't be missed when he's gone.
The country star has announced he will begin his farewell tour very soon, which will be aptly titled the Cowboy Rides Away Tour.
In a moving statement, Strait said:
"This is going to be a very special, emotional tour for me. Everywhere we're going holds fond memories and I’m looking forward to paying my respects."
The musical goodbyes will start Jan. 18 in Lubbock, Texas, and will stretch into 2014. Although this will be the last chance for his fans to see him live - don't think the man is ready to ride off into the sunset just yet.
"Don't think I'm retiring, because I'm not. I'm still going to make records and I'm going to write. If a special event happens to come up somewhere that I want to do, by all means I'm gonna do it. I'm not saying this is going to be the last time I'll be on stage singing with my band. I hope I still have a lot of those left in me, but as far as a structured tour goes, after the last date in 2014 that will be it."
And with 68 million albums sold in his career - we doubt the man will be forgotten anytime soon.
Most likely, his music will live on forever!!
