We can't even BEGIN to imagine how Katy Perry is feeling right now, but she's apparently "devastated" over Johnny Lewis' shocking death.
They were a couple between 2005 and 2006, which is way before she became a famous face thanks to her 2008 breakout hit, I Kissed A Girl.
A source is speaking up about their relationship and revealing that it had such a profound effect on her that at least two of her the songs "were partially inspired by him."
Katy broke it off when he was too much trouble for her too handle, but she'll always remember the "good times" they spent together, as the source explained:
"She had to separate from him… to get ahead and focus on her career. He was in trouble then and she couldn't help him. A lot of her songs were partially inspired by him. I know The One That Got Away and Circle the Drain are partly about him, as well as Travis [McCoy], but she was young and it was a time in her life she cherishes."
The source added that she couldn't quite reel him back from the self-destructive path he was on and had to break it off because she "couldn't go in that direction."
And we are oh so glad she didn't go in that direction either!
After all, we can't imagine the world without her beautiful voice and if she went down that path…
Well, who knows what would have happened, but our thoughts go out to her during this difficult time!
