Gene Simmons' Daughter Is Sophie's Simon's Choice On X Factor!

| Filed under: TV NewsMusic MinuteBritney SpearsSimon CowellDemi LovatoX FactorReality TV

One of the MOST talked about auditions so far this season on the X Factor was that of Gene Simmons’ daughter, Sophie Tweed-Simmons!

As we reported back in June, Sophie showed up to the show’s San Francisco auditions as an attempt to break free from her dad’s KISS frontman shadow!

So, did the 19-year-old help continue her father’s legacy or completely bomb the chance of ever having her own music career???

Check out Sophie’s audition (above), where she took a chance and covered Adele!

Oh shiz! Did you see her face when Demi recognized where she knew her from?! Oops! LOLz!

We were happy to hear that Sophie actually DID have a beautiful voice and was super humble throughout the audition, too!

Guess we’ll have to see if she ends up winning over judge L.A. Reid when bootcamp rolls around next week!

I don't see how in the world she can claim to be trying to do this on her own, when she brought her parents to the audition!! I know they had a TV show but I had actually never seen it so I wouldn't have realized who she was. She clearly wanted to be known As Gene Simmons daughter tho, or else what was that whole segment about featuring her in the lineup with her 'rents? I would have had a lot more respect if she either came alone, or waited until after her performance to reveal her family. Cough cough, STAGED!

Not such a great voice. Heard better. Undeserved being put through seeing there are more talented singers who didn't make the cut because their daddy wasn't a rock star.

I loved it - if you look back at most of the contestants on these shows they all have some sort of connection to the business already - so who cares. she is cute and deserves a chance just like anyone else. Plus its TV people. It all goes back to ratings!

she totally used her name and parents to get on that show and it's her name that got her to the next round because she's mediocre at best!

  5. 5

Re: SashaSkye – I agree. She could have gone by herself, or with friends. Even if she would have said her last name was Simmons, people probably wouldn't have known. She wasn't bad though. But that is originally a Bob Dylan song.

she brought her parents. she didn't do this alone. her voice is just okay. i wldn't have let her through to the next round. too many brilliant singers.

I've seen her sing on their reality show before and shes actually MUCH better than the performance she put on here. It was just the wrong song choice for her. And as for bringing her parents, who wouldnt want the support of your parents no matter who they are? Is she supposed to have no support system because of their fame? Thats unfair. Sophie has always been out of the lime light except for the tv show and that shes barely even on as well. If Demi didnt say anything about who her parents were she would never have said anything. stop being a hater!

Re: SashaSkye – she should have also introduced herself as Sophie Tweed - rather than Tweed-Simmons - but I think she did a good job

I thought she was great….love her version of the song……and MEOW…..that beatcha that was all sour grapes about her having a famous dad…..did she make it?? Anyone know if she could even sing??? And her parents wanted to support her…good for them! She did not trade her dad being famous….look she waited in line and everything like everybody else.

    Re: Fame1 – well said :)

  12. 12

Re: Fame1 – I can understand wanting the support of your parents - but to stand beside your dad and say you want to be separated from him? If she really wanted anonymity, she could easily of had it by going alone and not saying her full last name.

  13. 13

She is decent although I found her "Feel sorry for me bc I have a famous dad" rather annoying

This is NOT an Adele song - this is a Bob Dylan song!!!

  15. 15

This is why I stopped watching these fucking shows. Glad hollywood teens with famous parents and backup singers and people who were famous on Broadway or in television shows get infinite chances at proving themselves.

Drop the nepotism for fuck's sake and let true unknowns get their chance.

  16. 16

I thought the show was called The "X" Factor?

    Not the "OK" Factor

  17. 17

Re: JungianQueen – Totally agree!!! The sooner Kelly Osbourne is gone, the better.

I think the girl in the white hat should shut her damn yap and see if she gets through on talent alone…If Sophie is meant to make it in the competition then she will and will have to work just as hard as everyone else….She could have just asked her Daddy to help her make an album but she didn't. Just because she had her parents there for support doesn't mean it is because of them or more specifically her Dad that she made it through. After all L.A did say no….It is all scripted but she obviously wants it so….To the chick in the White Hat…Shut up and sing and see who makes it further in the comp…..Haters gonna hate….

Sophie is a very beautiful young lady, her voice has a nice tone but she sounded very nervous and cracked in some places. I think if she gets past the nervousness and finds her own stage presence she could be a contendor. The girl in the white hat is right to some degree about having a famous Dad, but she comes across bitchy about it. Sophie needs to realize she needs to be a step above the rest to overcome her famous Dad.

  20. 20

She has a beautiful voice and if she has the work ethics of her parents then I'm sure that she will work her behind off to succeed. However the crazy woman who claims to be a vocal coach better watch out…her over confidence might just bite her in the butt.

She can't do it on her own. Not because she isnt great, it's because of who her parents are. If you watch their show, Gene is all about Gene. Its the fact that as much as she wants to be independent, she can't because gene knows she will always be looked at as his daughter and he wants to use it to his advantage. I love Gene and KISS and i love sophie but it is gonna be very hard to split away from the family background.

I love her version of this song. Her voice is unique and I love it. She shouldn't feel any shame in bringing her parents with her. Anyone in her place would want support and it's not her fault that her parents are famous. She wanted this for herself and she did it for herself. It doesn't matter if people know who her father is or who she is. She wanted to work for a record deal and not just get one handed to her. She could have just had her dad pay for her to get a cd put out. That's much easier.

  23. 23

i guess i got distracted because i thought she didn't get through. but i absolutely loved her voice

I heard Sophie sing "At Last" at her parents wedding on their show Family Jewels and she sounded amazing. I wish she had sang that song for her audition and I'm sure she would have gotten yes x 4. I think she will surprise you all yet and I do believe she has the X-Factor. It's all about song choices and I think it was just not the right song for her.

I could not stand the ugly personality of that jealous Tara Simon girl. Get over yourself Tara…Nobody likes ugly!!! I would never vote for her!!

Go Sophie!! I'll be routing for you!!

  25. 25

Sophie has already won; she doesn't need (and won't) to win the show. It was the fact that she was good enough to make it past the judges and that there is something to work with when she does start working with a band/producers etc.
Success isn't always about millions of records sold. Sometimes it's about just making your statement.

  26. Sybil says – reply to this

She shouldn't hide her last name nor should she refuse to come with her parents. It isn't her fault that she wants a career in music and that her dad is a famous musician. I think that it is sweet that her mum and dad came along.

  27. 27

She ruined her likability with the public already. She kind of came off like a spoiled J.A.P.
Relax it means Jewish American Princess. She wanted to do it on her own but she clearly stated her full name and didn't want ppl taking pics? Really princess, you were on a reality show for 7 yrs and you brought your rock, icon, father. Lame.
As for her voice, she was trying way too hard to sound like Adele or a Nora Jones type singer and it came off poser-ish. Is this a word? lol. The feud fake or not with Tara will keep her on a little longer but she isn't good enough to make finals.
Also, Gene Simmons was a female ageist. He thought all women were over the hill after 30 and very picky with looks. Is it karma that all these types of men have average or below average looking daughters? Sophie needs to lose 30lbs to be a pop star, unless she wants to be a jazz type singer.

Re: Cha_Cha_the famous – It's her own name, so she used it. They're her parents, so she brought them for backstage support just like everyone else there. What, she should stand there alone and finish and walk out to no one? She got through because she's simply got something. The vocal coach girl's audition was more annoying; waaaay too many vocal gymnastics while I waited for any note held long enough to perceive her tone, resonance, or to finally be allowed to feel the song and a mood. Less is more. Don't junk it up. It's like having a beautiful yard and putting out 150 garden gnomes.

When Sophie auditioned, it was on Father's Day and she had told her dad the night before that she was in Oakland. Why the hell would she be in Oakland? Well when she told him she was auditioning, he took his jet and headed out here. Gene and Shannon tried to stay as low key as possible. They sat in the audience and were nice to everyone. Sophie said her name because that's her name. Of course Demi would say something. Hype it up. I don't think Sophie will win X Factor but lets be honest, is that a bad thing? She'll probably sign with someone, if she hasn't already, and she'll make music that no one will know about. This wasn't staged because she wouldn't come to OAKLAND OF ALL PLACES to do an audition.

    Re: SashaSkye – Thank you!

  31. 31

Re: MoKnowsAll – That snot did sing right after Simmons. She probably would have been good if she had not sang like most R&B singers with little words and more rifts. How dare Demi compare her to Mariah. Wow. Surprised they all thought she was so great.

  32. 32

Re: Sybil – You're right, she should have brought her parents, BUT she should have had them go in first or after instead of walking in with her making everyone see that she was somehow associated with them.

Gorgeous girl. Really nice person it would seem but really weak ass voice. Staged.
I love that she called Brit Hag "Ma'am. LOL!

Re: SashaSkye – Umm, obviously you've never been a parent.. it doesn't matter whether she wanted them there or not, I would bet money that they insisted on going with her to be there for her and support her.. any parent who loves their child would, hands down. I know I would have insisted on going with if it was my child. If you recall, up on the stage when Demi recognized her, you could tell by the look on her face, she was not happy about it and was very disappointed.
