Russell Brand's Bizarre Katy Perry Marriage 'Meth' Metaphor!

Oh jeeze, WHAT an unfortunate metaphor to use!!

Russell Brand seems to always discuss the reasons WHY his 14 month marriage to Billboard's Woman of the Year Katy Perry didn't work, most recently citing simple incompatibility as the cause…

But to prove his point, the generally HIGHlarious, philosophical funnyman used the most bizarre comparison!

During his interview with Australia's 60 Minutes, Russell weirdly stated:

"I think if you’re a devoted tennis professional and you get married to a crystal meth addict, you might have trouble… I’ve been in a lot of trouble."

Ummm… what silliness is this?!

The reason this comparison is SO strange is that Russell IS known to have had issues with drugs in the past, and is thankfully now sober, but the 'tennis pro' comes totally out of left field. Or side court.

Hoh man, now WE'RE mixing metaphors! Curse you Russell Brand!!

Maybe he is being nice and just doesnt want to hurt her feelings by spelling out a painful truth……i guess perez hilton might not care to consider any other possibility other than one which slams russell…that is the only obvious thing when perez comments on russ.

it wasn't a metaphor for HIS marriage but for all marraiges.. he used a plethora of metaphores… he was attempting poorly to say no matter how much you like someone it's not going to work if you're polar opposites

he's referring to tennis pro andre agassi who was a meth addict and married to brooke shields..

You really should do your research first. And learn what a metaphor is. What he gave was an EXAMPLE. He also gave loads of other examples of bad couplings that seemingly came out of left field. He was trying to come up with the most bizarre examples he could for comedic effect, you know, cause he's a COMEDIAN. People need to lighten up and not take things he says so literally…

[re=6204657]Re: Nah. She's a decade younger than Brand. He has a lot more rings in his trunk. What do you think he was like at her age? We've all read about it. She's better behaved with a bigger career. She'll have a more developed soul down the road.

What absolute rubbish Perez! He gave a metaphor! Definition: A figure of speech in which an implied comparison is made between two unlike things that actually have something in common. Adjective: metaphorical.

My take on his comment is that she is a musician and he is a comedian so there difference in careers eventually took a toll because they had no common ground.

WHY on earth do u find this metaphor bizarre? He just wanted to show with this metaphor that they were VERY different, wanted different things, and had different priorities. Russell wanted a baby, and Katy wasn't ready for that. She said it in her movie.

"Please stop talking"?? What's that BS, Perez? Katy did a whole movie AND songs based on their divorce! And he haven't even said anything yet. He was asked by a journalist about the divorce, and he replied. It's simple as that.

"unfortunate metaphor"??? " REALLY Perez? You are full of hypocrisy! Russell just used this metaphor to show how different they were. That is all. He's used other meataphors as well. He didn't even say any details. I want him to write a book and just admit that he couldn't stand KP getting wasted everyday. It's time for him to REALLY talk, like SHE did in her movie.

PEREZ, before you comment, don't misrepresent quotes in the first place. I saw the interview, and the comment :" I've been in a lot of trouble" was said by Russell in a totally different context at a different time and place during the interview. It was said not in the studio where the conversation took place but outside where they were preparing to drive around in a cart. This comment was slapped at the end of the metaphor to make it appear as though Russell sees himself as the methaddict in the example. Shame on you for misrepresenting the truth. As for the metaphor, it was said with humor.

Metaphors exactly! I'm just glad he got out of there before Katy's excessive drinking threatened his sobriety. No one person is worth 10 years of sobriety.

He doesn't keep talking about it, the only time he's mentioned her is when someone else asked him about it. Why do you not come down on her for using her failed marriage to promote her failed movie & album? The metaphor wasn't weird or unfortunate, it made sense. The reason they broke up was because of her (rumored) constant partying drinking/drug use and he's a recovering addict, those things don't mix.
