The MTV Movie Awards are no longer a summer affair.
Typically broadcast in June to welcome the arrival of the blockbuster movie season, MTV has decided to air the annual award show on Sunday, April 14 next year.
Why the sudden change?
Because the movie business is changing!
Studios used to wait until Memorial Day to send their biggest attractions into theaters but as the success of The Hunger Games and The Avengers has proven, spring is in!
Since the award show is basically one big PR stunt that allows Hollywood to showcase upcoming releases to a young audience, MTV decided its best to accommodate that business model.
Makes no difference to us.
The awards are always a blast and a great opportunity for fans to see the funner side of their favorite celebs! We'll take that anytime!
