Sarah Silverman Explains DESTROYS The Logic Behind Voter ID Laws

Sarah Silverman has the "brand new super f*cked up" Voter ID laws in her crosshairs and isn't shy expressing her opposition to them.

Since the fate of those laws is out of her hands, she wants every potential voter to be prepared this election so they don't get turned away at the poll due to insufficient identification.

That means voters in Pennsylvania, Indiana, Florida, Michigan, South Dakota, Idaho, Louisiana, Kansas, New Hampshire and Georgia need a photo ID to cast their ballot on November 6th.

The problem is, an estimated 18% of seniors and young voters, plus 25% of African Americans, don't have a valid ID. That means 3.2 million American citizens might not be able to vote this year!

In a HIGHlarious video explaining the new state laws (above), Sarah charges that "this attempt to prevent voter fraud is itself the only voter fraud taking place."

The video clip of Republican State Rep. Mike Turzai proudly proclaiming that Voter ID "is going to allow Governor Romney to win the state of Pennsylvania" pretty much seals the deal for her argument if U ask us!

Tell it like it is, gurl!

Here is the flaw(s) with this video. First of all, I don't know how many people get by without some type of photo id. How are they able to drive a car, or use a debit card/have a bank account? I did some research and the average cost to get a photo ID is around $20.. I think the highest I saw was maybe close to $30. Not a lot of money in the grand scheme of things! Also, many states allow seniors over 60 to get photo ID's for FREE. As for students.. again, when I have had to sign up for school or to pay bills, I've been asked to see a photo ID/Drivers License. Is it really that hard to get one? As for African Americans, why are they being singled out? This video doesn't really show them being equal with the rest of the other races which is something they want to have. This video is wrong on so many levels! The only thing I agree with is the fact that people with gun ids can use them to vote.. that right there makes no sense at all!

Why don't these people have photo ID's? Do you not have government issued ID's that aren't drivers licences in America? In Canada you can get provincial ID's no problemo.

You idiot libs….. Just get an I'd or don't vote. Enough of the acorn horseshit.

she is such an idiot: "You want fair - go to Canada" We have voter ID laws and have had them for YEARS!!

We understand that you are very liberal. But where are the conservative posts. I see some mentions once in a while, but how a bout some mutual stance on some shit. All you post is against the republican party or in favor of your own views. That is not a viewing to all people.

Jew for Black? Anyone? Too soon? Sarah can you tell us where the word 'Shvatsa' originated from? It just seems that Jews in America have stopped using the word PUBLICLY since the Crown Heights riots in Brooklyn circa 1989…..PLEASE ADVISE SARAH SILVERMAN. Thank you. Jesus IS Magic with a TERRIFIC memory.

  8. National Voter Turnout says – reply to this

National Voter Turnout in Federal Elections:

    2004 Turnout of Voting-Age Population (%) : 55.3%
    2008 Turnout of Voting-Age Population (%) : 56.8%

I think your on to something Sarah, why don't we just arrest anyone who doesn't vote that is legally of age to do so come Presidential election time?

That's SURE a BIG number Sarah, but I'm sure you and the ACLU and the SPLC are up to the task! Here's a box of handcuffs from an old sex toy shop that Jimmy Kimmel used to frequent (alone). Remember Sarah, 'Organization First'. Go get em' my Jew Tigress!

So what exactly is wrong with the voter id law's? If someone wants to vote badly enough why don't they get off their asses and go down to the local DMV and get an ID I work with individuals who are physically disabled or have M.R.D.D and each and everyone of them have a photo ID so what are these people excuses "I'm black and the white man is trying to keep me from voting", I'm to old? seriously I see nothing wrong with law how else can they prove that someone is who thy say they are if they don't have an ID. Please Sarah crawl back into your hole and shut the hell up.

Sarah is such an idiot. She acts like this is some conspiracy to not allow certain voters the ability to vote this election. What isn't told to you in the stats she spouted off is that some of these states that have passed these voter id laws years ago, our state started passing stricter voter id laws back in 2005!!! So if someone who truly cares about voting in the elections hasn't gotten the required ID there's no excuse, they've had 7 years to get a government issued id! In my state it costs $8. It doesn't have to be a driver's license, it can be a state issued id as well. What makes me lose total respect for Sarah is how she says that people with a gun license can vote with their id. I don't own a gun, but in order to get a gun license it's a very STRICT process and it's actually HARDER to get one than a driver's license! So she's a total idiot saying any idiot with a gun license can vote! She needs to stick to comedy, actually she's not that funny so she should find another day job!

Voter fraud is meant to keep ILLEGALS from voting in our polls. If you think they don't vote, you're completely naive and listening to only mainstream media. Every American should have an ID– it's absurd not to in the 21st century and you need one for cashing checks, opening a bank account, boarding an airplane and many other government activities. This film is what's F*ed up– giving the impression that the laws are against Americans. If you can't afford an ID or have lived without one, chances are you're illegal. Cross-check FL and NV and CA voting records with the names of people who decline jury duty because they're not citizens and you'll be enlightened. Surprise, surprise— MANY illegals vote. Democrats give them incentives to register and then bus them to the polls on election day. Is it a Federal offense? Yes– but WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU EVER HEARD OF ANYONE BEING BUSTED FOR NON-CITIZEN VOTING? It just doesn't happen, and they know it.

  12. 12

Re: lenmom – Correction– first sentence should read "Voter ID laws are meant to keep ILLEGALS from voting in our polls.

  13. StormRider says – reply to this

Who cares what this ultra liberal no talent has to say. F - -K her and the last horse she slept with. Everyone knows she is in bed with Obama and his group.

  14. 14

I really don't understand here. So, in America people used to be able to vote without an ID? How do you know then that someone doesn't just go to different polling stations and pretend to be other people? I live in Canada and it seems absurd to me that you wouldn't have a system like showing a simple ID to validate your vote. There must be all kinds of fraud in a system like that! And I agree with what others are saying about services. How to you get utilities, drive a car, even open a bank account without an ID? You can't even using a cheque cashing center without one so do all the people who don't have an ID run around with no money? I don't get it. And for what it's worth, I'm usually very very liberal but I don't think this is a right or left thing - it should just be a common sense thing. Everyone is entitles to get some form of identification. If you don't get around to it then you don't have one cause you're a fool, not because "the man" is trying to hold you down lol.

  15. Rob says – reply to this

I'm sorry, but this is just ridiculous! I need ID to drive a car, buy alcohol, buy cigarettes, go to college, rent an apartment, sometimes when using a credit card, flying, going to a hospital, and the list goes on. Getting a photo ID is not hard and does not cost a lot of money. Why is it so crazy that we ask for ID verification when you are voting for the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES or any other government official. Theses are the people who control taxes, laws, healthcare, etc. She is crazy and anyone who agrees is an idiot. If you don't have ID, then you can't vote.

  16. wojo says – reply to this

    PA . Acceptable IDs include:

Photo IDs issued by the U.S. Federal Government or the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (including the Department of State Voter ID Card
PA Driver’s License or Non-driver’s License photo ID (IDs are valid for voting purposes 12 months past expiration date)
    Valid U.S. passport
U.S. military ID- active duty and retired military (a military or veteran’s ID must designate an expiration date or designate that the expiration date is indefinite). Military dependents’ ID must contain an expiration date
Employee photo ID issued by Federal, PA, PA County or PA Municipal government
Photo ID from an accredited PA public or private institution of higher learning, including colleges, universities, seminaries, community colleges and other two-year colleges
Photo ID issued by a PA care facility, including long-term care facilities, assisted living residences or personal care homes

The ID must have an expiration date and not be expired, unless it is a PennDOT issued ID which can be expired for up to one year. The name under which you are registered to vote should “substantially conform” to the name on your ID.

  17. 17

BULL! ALL seniors have a photo id it's mostly the blacks and illegals that don't because they don't want to be held accountable for child support, outstanding warrants or welfare scams for traceable addresses. Put that in your pipe and smoke it Sara.

  18. 18

Dam! I used to want to fuck her! I always said,if someone can justify not having ID to vote, is a fucking wack job!! Well Sara, you proved your wacked as this President who needs these votes!!!

  19. 19

Hi, up here in Canada you need photo ID to vote. No one is discriminated against. Stop turning this into a sob story. Get a government issued photo ID card. They have been around for years.
Except for the students, that really sucks. They should be able to bring ID and two pieces of mail with their mailing address on it to vote.

  20. Ms Pinkus says – reply to this

If your too stupid to get an ID, than your too stupid to vote
I'M sure that many of the POOR BLACKS who cant get a photo ID are able to get finacial aid from the government, food stamps, Obama phone, welfare,
And let me remind many of you, last election Sarah was in Florida preaching to elderly Jews, why they neeed to vote for Obama, well many of the same old people, know a lot more this time around, and actually hold it against Silverman for getting them to vote for a president, who has turned his back on Israel

  21. 21

If I need an ID to buy Sudafed, you need an ID to vote. If you want to vote so badly, get an ID, what's the problem?

  22. 22

Im black and Ive had a license since I was 16 but I know many hoodrats who have no id, bank account, or even know their own social because they dont g.a.f. Those are people most wouldd consider losers by any standard. I think they need to get their shit together because its not hard nor expensive to get a state ID. They were all made aware of the new laws w/ more than enough time. Get it together.

  23. 23

A photo ID is basically a NECESSITY in today's world. How some of these people have zero proof of their identification, and REFUSE to change that before the voting deadline DOESNT DESERVE TO VOTE!

  24. Julia says – reply to this

Re: Tash20 – Exactly! Further more, if they really dgaf about those basic things for every day use.. what are the chances that they are actively watching the news or reading about the different political issues going on today? I'm going to say probably NO CHANCE! If that is the case, they shouldn't be voting. People voting for the sake of voting is not ok. If you don't know what you are voting for, don't vote!

  25. heretoeducate says – reply to this

Re: NotSoGay – First off, not ALL seniors have an ID and mostly white trash dogs don't have an ID, you under educated shit. BTW, I've had an ID since I was 10 (military ID) and a drivers license… also I'm black. Bitch get yourself educated and pay your taxes. Typical under educated Republican. You're gay ass, and try to be proud.

  26. 26

the only ting she destroyed was the logic behind liberals not believing in voter id laws. this was hilarious and ultimately made no sense. i didnt realize blacks were unable to get an id? i didnt realize they were incapable. liberals are exploiting the black community instead of helping them. it's so sickening. sarah is completely misled on the issue and she's misleading a lot of other people as well. And Perez, YOU ARE passing her message of stupidity on!!! STAY OUT OF POLITICS PLEASE!!! I go to your site for gossip. this isn't gossip, this is you trying to shove your left wing ideals down your viewers throats. i cant begin to explain how i annoyed i am when i come on this site and see things like this. this is the reason people leave your site and don't come back. seriously consider how people will react to what you post.

Re: Julia – GREAT response. If they are not paying attention then why should they vote? I think we should have ID cards for competence levels, how about that? And duct tape for whiney Santa Monica liberals who have too much free time and too little talent. Sarah you will never be Phylis Diller.

  28. @v@ says – reply to this

If going down to the DMV for a photo I.D. or sending for I.D. from Vital statistics is too big of an issue, then there's a far bigger problem.

  29. @v@ says – reply to this

Re: Adrienne – I hear that Canada will issue official photo I.D. at their DMV for twenty bucks even if you're not getting a driver's license.

  30. teeter totter says – reply to this

Geez, just sign up for a permanent absentee ballot and then you can vote by mail, did this 3 years ago, best thing I ever did, only costs me the price of a stamp versus going to a polling place, parking, waiting for an open booth, registering, etc.

  31. Velyna says – reply to this

Re: mangymutt – Well also the Pennsylvania governor or senator or someone like that did say that they were doing the voter ID law so Romney would win the election. I believe what he said exactly was "Voter ID law which is going to allow Governor Romney to win Pennsylvania; done!" So it does make it seem like their plan or at least his plan is to stop voters with doing this law somehow that will allow Romney to win.

  32. Velyna says – reply to this

Re: SashaSkye – Well we can open bank accounts in Canada without a photo id, but yes we need ID of some kind for most things. I think we can use our S.I.N card here to vote if we don't have photo ID. Since not everyone drives and the age of majority card is a pain in the ass to get and some don't travel so have no need for a passport or in Ontario's case the new Ontario id, is exactly that. It's new so there aren't many places to get it but soon it will be easily accessible to all and I think it costs $35.

  33. Velyna says – reply to this

Re: @v@ – Depending on where you are in Canada. Some province act very different from others. For example Ontario just added province photo id. But many have had it for years. Or for example in Ontario when you go for your license you have to get your G1 first which means you can drive but only in daytime with someone who has had over 5 years of driving experience in the car with you and not on highways (or interstates as the US calls them). Then we need to get our G2 which means we can drive alone and on highways they would just prefer we don't drive on highways at night. Then we have to go for our G which basically show's that we're a good driver and now we get our full license. We have to take driving tests and pass each one to get to that G. But in somewhere like Alberta it's one license when you're 17 I think. Or the drinking age in Quebec is different from the rest of Canada. So really it all depends on where you are in the country.

  34. 34

How hard is it to get an ID? If you turn 18 and you register to vote, it can't be that hard to take the extra step and just get an ID. LAZY.

  35. Velyna says – reply to this

Re: poorlittlerichiegirl – Well it can be hard depending on the requirements needed to get the I.D, but most of the time it's simple.

  36. Utopia Police says – reply to this

So Sarah, I think it should not require an ID to use your charge cards so please publish all of the particulars online ’cause I KNOW no one without an ID would claim they were you…

  37. Dantes says – reply to this

This is, I suppose, what passes for intellectual exposition in Hollywood.

Vote fraud is theft from the will of the people, a crime. Therefore, it should be treated as a crime and measures taken to punish lawbreakers who commit or aid and abet fraud. Voting is not actually a right…it is a privilege…

Take buying a gun, now. Gun ownership is a civil right but the government and liberals seem to have no problem with people proving their identity to get a gun.

It takes the barest effort on one's part to get a picture ID.

Go back to acting, or whatever it is you do, and quit embarrassing yourself.

  38. rulierose says – reply to this

something like 65% of Americans APPROVE OF voter ID laws, and that includes minorities who refuse to buy into the idea that they're too stupid to follow the rules.

most of us understand that voter fraud is bad. but the Democrats seem to be depending on it!
