Some of the music industry’s finest gathered together last night at the Nokia Theater in El Lay to pay tribute to the late, great Whitney Houston!
The special, We Will Always Love You: A Grammy Salute to Whitney Houston, is the perfect blend of never before seen interview footage of Whitney, her greatest moments and special all-star performances.
Halle Berry introduced the show, with tears in her eyes as she recalled her earliest memories of Houston, as did LL Cool J, Britney Spears, Clive Davis and Taraji P. Henson throughout the night.
Jennifer Hudson kicked off the special and got the crowd to celebrate Whitney’s life, with a medley of her greatest dance hits like, I Wanna Dance With Somebody, How Will I Know and I’m Every Woman!!
Usher gave a stunning rendition of I Believe In You And Me, which, much to the crowd’s excitement, he had to perform twice because of technical difficulties!
However, the show was brought to a phenomenal close with the best performance of the night, from gospel greats, CeCe Winans and Yolanda Adams!
The ladiez teamed up on the track, Count On Me, from one of Whitney’s best movies, Waiting To Exhale, and lifted up the crowd’s spirits, as Bobbi Kristina and her boyfriend, Nick Gordon, tearfully leaned on each other.
Whitney’s sister in law and longtime manager, Pat Houston, was also in attendance, though Cissy — Whitney’s mom — was noticeably missing.
Overall, the special celebrated the life of the icon and will air on CBS on November 16th at 10pm!
