BBC Icon Jimmy Saville Accused Of Molesting Children For DECADES!

| Filed under: TV NewsLegal MattersSad Sad

America was shocked by the Jerry Sandusky sex abuse scandal at Penn State, but now the United Kingdom is dealing with an even bigger one.

At least 40 people have come forward to claim that BBC icon Jimmy Saville molested them!

Yuck!

Even though he's no longer alive to answer for his crimes, the reports are pouring in. It's so bad that BBC Radio Two presenter Jeremy Vine believes Saville will become known as "one of the most serious predatory paedophiles in criminal history."

The youngest known victim so far is Kevin Cook, who was just a 9-year-old cub scout when he appeared on the long-running series Jim'll Fix It in 1976.

Now a 45-year-old man with two children of his own, he recounted the awful experience by saying:

"He took me to a small dressing room. I don’t think it was his because it was really shabby, a dingy little room. He said 'Do you want to earn your badge?' and he sat me on a chair in the middle of the room. He put his hand on my knee and then tried to put his fingers up the bottom of my shorts before he unzipped them and touched me. Then he made me put my hand on top of his trousers … After I’d done my shorts up Jimmy warned me not to tell anyone. He said 'Don’t even tell your mates. We know where you live. Nobody would believe you anyway – I’m King Jimmy.'"

Truly sickening stuff!

Both Scotland Yard and the broadcasting company have launched independent investigations into the troubling matter. BBC Director-General George Entwistle has said in a statement:

"Jimmy Savile’s victims have faced years of pain. We owe it to them – and to our audiences – to understand how this could have happened – and to make sure that we do everything so that nothing like this could ever happen again."

The sexual abuse didn't just occur while Saville was working at BBC either.

He allegedly paid off parents of victims to avoid criminal charges back in the 1950s when he managed a dance hall. Other various victims say they were molested by his hand at psychiatric hospitals and children's homes.

Janet Cope, the deceased star's former assistant and good friend, believes the numerous victims are just "jumping on the bandwagon" to make a quick buck. We believe she's in some serious denial.

I still can't believe that Savile managed to get away with it for so long. There are so many unanswered questions now about all the insitutions he was involved with. I've just seen the video at and it's horrendous. If this video is genuine, then it is a real shame that nobody ever spoke out while Savile was alive. It just shows the power and influence he must have had.

People in the industry will always get away with it, because nobody dares speak out about it. It's in every country too. In Australia, they're in the process of extraditing Robert Hughes from London. He was on Australia's most successful sitcom, Hey Dad and he apparently molested lots of kids too. One of his co-stars went public 2 years ago, and there was a flood of people coming out to say that either he did it to them or they knew he was doing it, but nobody did anything about it because he was the star of the most popular show on TV. Even the producer of the show threatened cast members who said anything about it.
People need to realize just cause someone is on TV doesn't make them above the law.
