Van Halen has been around for more than 30 years - because they're real musicians making real music. This silly boy band will be a flash in the pan just like all the other silly boy bands.

Van whatever might have been around longer, but they sure are childish. Who know what went down. Maybe they didn't know who they were? I know I've never heard of them. One Direction have been doing a lot of promos so who knows. Maybe they were just exhausted. I like 1D. They have talent.

I LOVE Van Halen. One of my first concerts was Van Halen. But I also love One Direction. I don't believe we should take Wolfgang as a perfect source though. The kid as been absolutely babied, coming from a privileged family, while One Direction has had to work to get where they are. All things aside, I think it's very unprofessional and immature for Wolfgang to be saying such things. Good job on One Directions part for staying quiet.

Re: Barbara – ok. They are an older band. I am sure people have said "they will disappear" Don't hate on a band because it is a "boy band." They are all inividually very talented and can sing. Whether they stay in a band or go solo they will be popular for a long time. I personally think Van Halen are immature. This is just nonsense.

I think it is hilarious that Van Halen got their feelings hurt so bad over this. If they were so awesome then they probably would have just brushed it off and thought nothing else of it.

It wasn't Van Halen….Wolfie is touring with Mark Tremonti (of Creed and Alterbridge). Regardless, those little punkass kids need to learn a little respect, no matter who it was.

i think this speaks for itself

According to the Recording Industry Association of America, Van Halen is the 19th best-selling band/artist in United States history, with sales of over 56 million albums in the U.S. and over 86 million albums worldwide

Van Halen is one of only five rock bands that have had two albums sell more than 10 million copies in the U.S.[4] Additionally, Van Halen has had the most #1 hits in the history of Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart.[5]

I'm not saying it didn't happen, but maybe people shouldn't just jump to conlusions about this unless there is actual proof. xx

it wasn't the band Van Halen. Just Wolfgang. he is playing bass for Mark Tremonti while he is on hiatus from Alter Bridge.

Re: Maddy – You have got to be kidding? You are obviously 5 years old if you've never heard of Van Halen. YOU are what is wrong with the world and the reason why untalented hacks like 1D become famous. One day you will grow up and respect real talent.

Perez should take time to get his facts right. Wolfgang wasn't touring with Van Halen, he is the bassist for Tremonti as well. He was with Mark Tremonti, Eric Freedman, and Garrett Whitlock.

I roll with laughter when I hear these comments about "real music" and "prefabricated" pop music. It's so obnoxious when people decide they have some special knowledge of what real music is supposed to be. to call someone fake or untalented is a bit egotistical. I have heard 1D and happen to like them and they're music. Van Halen was in their heyday during my teen years, and none of them were exactly saints, so I doubt the son is. The fact that they tweeted that was pretty juvenile. If they want to make it a big deal, why don't they give specifics? I find that suspicious.

I like how wolfgang did not mention WHAT the one direction boys said OR what he said or did to them. Either way seems like a desperate attempt to gain some attention on his part. AND one direction is NOT talentless. I listen to their music and im not even in my teens (pop music is short for popular for a reason–alot of people like it). Anyone who is able to make it through such a huge competition such as the xfactor DOES have talent regardless of whether or not you like the TYPE of music they perform.

One Direction is right, and the direction they are headed is known as "fading into obscurity."

Almost none of the music being made nowadays will be remembered. Van Halen is remembered. One Direction is bubblegum crap.
