Tom Hanks Dishes On Becoming Walt Disney!

| Filed under: Film FlickersDisneyTom Hanks

Tom Hanks may have starred in Big, but can he fill the massive, gynourmous shoes mouse ears of the venerable craftsman of childhood fantasies, Walt Disney?! Well, he better!

The Cloud Atlas actor will portray Mr. Disney in the currently under-production Mary Poppins-centric film, Saving Private Ryan Mr. Banks, which chronicles the 14 year struggle between Mr. Disney and Mary Poppins author P.L. Travers over making her classic tale into a movie.

So, how did Tom prepare for such an iconic role?! Well obviously research, but dude also took two trips to the Disney Family Museum in San Francisco!

Mr. Hanks reveals:

"It’s like a trip to Disneyland itself. It’s the third happiest place on the planet, behind Disneyland and Disney World."

Ha cute!

Tom also explained how he'll go so far as to chain smoke throughout the filming of the movie, as Walt Disney smoked heavily and eventually died of lung cancer in 1966.

Eeee be careful with your lungs, Tom! Can't they get you like, an e-cigarette or something?!

But we have to say, we're SO jazzed for this film! Mary Poppins is SUCH a influential children's film and story, and we can't wait to see the REAL story behind the making of the film!

I'd love to see ysomeone write a book or make a movie about how Walt was going broke when building Disneyland and got bailed out by the guys at Mc Culloch Oil.
