Check Out The First Pic Of Zoe Saldana As Nina Simone In Nina!

| Filed under: Film FlickersZoe Saldana

Zoe Saldana is portraying late jazz musician Nina Simone in the upcoming biopic, Nina, and here's the first pic of the actress all done up!

Well, we shouldn't say "all" done up because the source doesn't know if there is still more make-up to be added. Either way, Zoe is pretty much unrecognizable!

The movie will tell the story of the pianist's rise to stardom while profiling her relationship with manager Clifton Henderson.

Mike Epps also joined the cast last week to play Richard Pryor, who frequently opened for the musician when they were both starting out in the early 60s.

Check out pics of the woman that Mz. Saldana is bringing back to life on the big screen (below) to see the resemblance!

Oh, she DID get the part. People were mad because they said she's not black. But she is black. She's a black Latina. My co-workers sad I'm not black just because I'm from the Caribbean. But I am, idiots.

I am Black and Native american ,so I am not a dark skin woman. No we aren't mad because she isn't black ,she is black but she is a light skin black woman with good hair who always gets casted we are mad because why couldn't they have hired a already dark skinned actress with full lips and nose like Nina Simone. Why can we not cast a woman who already looks the part like Viola Davis or another dark skinned actress? To take a black woman and paint her blacker and add a shitty afro wig could better be asked why the just didn't cast someone new who already fit that mold.

I am black and native , and french , and Italian so I am not a dark skin woman .We are not made because Zoe isn't black she is I considered myself black and I am way more mixxed the Zoe we are mad because man they could have hired a dark skin black woman instead of putting a light skin woman with straight hair into black face that could have easily been Viola Davis , or a up and coming actress who looked the part.

    Re: trinigirl123

to trinigirl.. i assume you been in the states for some time now… so how you don't know that the vast majority of americans are not only dumb but believe that they own the pattern on being of the black race or caucasian race?…

in many of their minds only the usa … africa .. and europe.. has black and pink people…

    be blessed..

Clifton Henderson was exclusively gay, in a monogamous relationship with his boyfriend and died of HIV. He did not have a romantic or sexual relationship with Nina Simone. This "biopic" is Jerry Springer like trash and has no business bearing Nina Simone's name. Cynthia Mort, who was a producer of Will & Grace, clearly has no gaydar and no respect for Nina Simone's legacy.

It's unfortunate that the director has chosen to pick someone who is non african american with mediocre talent to play Nina. Actors such as Jamie Foxx, Angela Bassett and Laurence Fishburne have all played famous people without the aid of prosthetics. What they all shared was a talent and passion that made audiences believe they were the characters they were playing. What comes next, Zoe lipsyncing Nina's music? My only hope is that this film doesn't get a wide release and ends up in a bargain bin.

Zoe…Just…No. Zoe is Black; she just looks nothing like Nina Simone. I know Latinas who look more like Nina than Zoe; being Latino has no specific look, contrary to popular belief. Actress Adepero Aduye would be much better as Nina. Zoe's awesome, but we're tired of lighter-skinned Black people being chosen to play roles when there are fully capable people in all colors (who actually resemble the people) that would do awesome jobs, too.
