Perez Reviews: War Horse
Run - or gallop on your steed - to the Vivian Beaumont Theater to see War Horse before it closes!
We had never seen the play - or the Spielberg film adaptation - but we really wanted to see it before it ends its run in January. And we're sure glad we did!
A simple story about a boy and his horse. Told in a not so simple fashion.
Everything about the show is stunning!
And, yes, we cried! A healthy, cathartic cry!
We were so moved by the show! And the storytelling! And the performances! And those freakin' puppets!
Those horses just come to life on stage! And we feel for them so deeply! It is truly breathtaking and MUST-SEE!
In many ways, this production reminds us a lot of July Taymor's The Lion King musical. A show that transcends to source material written for children and appeals to all ages, while benefiting from the simplicity of story.
Truly truly exquisite stuff!

I bet every seat around you was empty. A 34 year old crying by himself in a theater says creepy and unbalanced.
I love the line "we had never seen the play before"
You are a intellectual nitwit.
14 sentences strung together… in no particular order. This is what you call a "review"? Jesus, Perez… this is pretty pathetic. Even for you.
And your review is juvenile. And so disjointed. And you are not smarter than a 5th Grader. And this is all I'm going to say.
July Taymor? YOU have got to be kidding
Re: Novel1 – Pumpkinhead fancies himself to be so erudite. In his review of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? he couldn't even be bothered to spell the title correctly.
July Taymor… what a complete idiot he is.
Saw the movie, it was really good, cannot afford to go see plays, being retired and living on a fixed income . Glad you had a great time.
