The United States Is Seeing Red! Taylor Swift's New Album Expected To Sell Over One MILLION Copies This Week!

| Filed under: Music MinuteTaylor SwiftBusiness Blitz

Someone should have considered re-titling her album Green, given the amount of MOOLAH it's going to be bringing in!

Taylor Swift's Red has only been released for one day, but as it's already sold 500,000 copies in that time alone, it's now being reported that the country cutie is expected to sell over A MILLION albums in the United States alone this week!

And because of the fact that her previous effort, Speak Now, debuted its first week with 1.047 units, this would make her the FIRST female artist to have a pair of albums make that kind of money in that timeframe…as it's only been achieved prior by Backstreet Boys, *NSync, and Eminem!

And so, SO well-deserved!

It's such an incredible album, so we cannot WAIT to see how far it goes…and what other records it could break!

Well done, gurl!

What would be really interesting is to see exactly who bought them. Demographics. Age and sex.

I see the dollar signs in her eyes, yeah, but….. show me something real Perez. She's the only one in this seeing the money, what's in it for everyone else?

Red, the fourth studio album from six-time Grammy Award winner Taylor Swift, was released worldwide just yesterday (October 22nd), and the disc is already notching striking sales numbers and widespread critical acclaim. Best ever.

You guys are all being sarcastic right? You're not serious? I know Tayfa is correct and technically it's true, but you don'thonestly believe that anyone under 20, besides her close friends actually bought this and look at it like a masterpiece right? Are you looking at the big picture or just what's on paper

All it really means is that kids all over the world are in agreement, and there's a whole lot of them. Adults generally don't give a fuck about music, unless it's the classics they know and even then, they're hard pressed to give a fuck.

And what percentage of that income will be going to Jake Gyllenhaal, since he inspired most of it?!

those sales are not that amazing considering her previous sales and the outrageous promo and build up its had. Its fairly average tbh. Mumford & son sold 600k with bearly any promo whatsoever…and another 400k worldwide. So their overall first week sales were also around 1 million. Thats far more impressive for a low profile act. Swift is absolutely everywhere. And her voice is no better than Keshas.

Re: PHWOARR – These days, general album sales as they are, over 1 million copies sold in the first week is FAR from average for any artist, regardless of their level of fame or the amount of marketing and promotion. The fact that it seems to be "average" for her to pull these kind of numbers consistently is impressive in and of itself. You use Mumford and Sons as a comparison but that's just one band. One band with impressive numbers similar to Swift's. I think you'd be hard pressed to find 5 or 6 more with likewise success in the current American music market. In the grand scheme of the thousands of of artist who release music every year and barely scratch the surface of that, comparatively, Swifts numbers are exceptional anyway you look at it. Those kind of numbers belong only to the 1% of the 1% which encompasses a very fractional amount of singers/musicians nowadays. This is all making no account for talent, skill, quality or taste, but just pure success.
