Kelly Clarkson Is A Republican Voting For Barack Obama Because She Supports Equality

| Filed under: Kelly ClarksonMusic MinutePolitikBarack ObamaMichelle Obama

Kelly Clarkson calls herself a Republican, but this presidential election, she's putting people before party.

The Texas-raised singer has told sources that she is planning voting for Barack Obama on November 6 because of Mitt Romney's anti-gay agenda.

While speaking to the UK's Daily Star, Clarkson explained:

“I’ve been reading online about the debates and I’m probably going to vote for Obama again, even though I’m a Republican at heart. I can’t support Romney’s policies as I have a lot of gay friends and I don’t think it’s fair they can’t get married."

That's not the only issue she supports the President on either. She's a woman who would like to make her own decisions about her own body, adding:

“I’m not a hardcore feminist but we can’t be going back to the 50s."

Turns out she also appreciates Michelle Obama's Let's Move campaign, which encourages America to eat healthy and exercise. After calling Obama "a great guy," she continued:

“I’ve met him and I’m a fan of Michelle too. She has been busy promoting better education and healthy diets, which is something we could all use a dose of reality on.”

Sounds like she knows exactly why she's voting this year. Why are U?

So let's just be clear why most people don't respect the "gay agenda". This woman is voting for the president of the united states based on his opinion on ONE issue. Gay marriage???? Are you fucking serious, not war, not poverty, not education, not crime, but marriage equality. Yeah, that surely is the highest of priorities for the president of the united states. What a fucking joke. Idiot homo's.

  2. 2

Another dumb ass who doesnt care about the economy but finds the gay issue priority over EVERYTHING else! The guy is sinking this country and you only care if he pass's equality!! Fucking amazing!!

  3. 3

People don't care about endorsements. People realize Obama has failed. He said he would fix the economy and more college graduates are working in fast food than ever. Do you want to fill warm and fuzzy about voting for a proven failure or do you want to work and be prosperous? That's why people are switching to Romney.

It's not going to matter who has rights and who doesn't when the economy collapses. His failed fiscal and foregin policies are bringing this country down and anyone who doesn't recognize that are going to be unpleasantly surprised when they have nothing and are paying double in taxes… I am all for equality, but let's get the countrys debt under control and more people working first, then we can fix all the social issues… Mitt Romney has stated over and over that he supports civil unions and gay peopel to have the same rights as everyone else, they just can't call it marriage. This country was founded on Judeo-Christian beliefs and includes God on money, in the pledge of allegience, and other things. If you don't like the way the country was founded, then go somewhere else. I don't understand why people hate on Romney because he said that gay marriage is a states issue and that he supports civil unions. Give me a break. Get educated, Perez.

Trump offered Obama 5 million bucks to share his college records. 5 million dollars to the charity of Obama's choice. Just think what 5 million could do for a GLBT organization. Just a shame they won't see a dime.

A few family members and friends are also Rebublican and are voting for Obama for several reasons. 1. They remember what Mitt has been saying for the last 6 years and not the last 2 weeks. 2. They remember who is responsible for the current economic state of the USA and who got us there. 3. They don't want to put those people (Republicans) back in the office. They believe in equality for all man and women and the gay community. 4. They remember the right wing being taken over by the tea baggers and how when Obama tried to reach across the aisle the Republicans said NO to everything and offered no solutions. 5. They were not willing to help at all they just wanted Obama to fail at the risk of the US and our standing in the world. 6. They also remember their refusal to make the tax process fair and make the wealth pay their fair share instead of only taxing and increasing the tax on the middle class. 7. They see Mitt as a puppet who will say anything from one day to the next just to get elected. 8. They know Mitt doesn’t really care about the people or the military that he only wants to be President to have a title not the job. 9. They know Mitt and Ryan want to re-write history on women’s rights and what we do with our bodies. 10. They are just rich lying people who only care about the people that are rich, white males, that if put into the office will step on the rest of us. I could go on but I will spare you. Just don’t believe Mitt’s lies.

Re: InformedandProud – Are you sure that the Republicans can fix the economy? Romney's plan for the economy is very vague. I realize that Obama has not fixed the economy, but I don't believe there is a quick fix - especially when both parties refuse to work together. I would not be so quick to sacrifice human rights for the promise of an economic plan that will, in all likelihood, make the rich richer, and the poor poorer.

  9. 9

If that is the most important issue to her then so be it. We all have a right to choose and I applaud anyone who uses their right to vote no matter who they're voting for!

  10. fid says – reply to this

What is Romney's genious economic plan exactly? All he keeps saying is that he promises more jobs, less taxes and all this without making any real cuts (except with PBS)? I don't know how that is considered a "plan". Also in terms of his foreign policy, by constantly saying that Russia and China are your biggest enemies on a national stage you're just digging your grave faster. America owes China crap loads of cash (after the G Bush fiasco) and you guys need trade with BOTH these countries. I don't know how cutting ties with these 2 big powers to be a smart move in attempting to have economic growth.

Some of you are dellusional. Sorry America, your time as a top dog is coming to a close, especially if you continue to think so narrowly.

    Re: rosebud99

Romney turned around the Olympics and helped bring companies, like Staples, out of economic destruction. Obama has left us with over 20 million employed and the job status is still at or over 8% unemployed.

The fact is that we don't have a choice. If we vote for Obama, read his plans for the next four years, he isn't really going to change things. So, businesses and people will continue to suffer. People will be unemployed. Obama doesn't have a plan and his healthcare plan is kicking in which is supposed to mean a loss of more jobs at small companies that can't afford to comply. So, next year, it will get worse under Obama.

  12. 12

So gay marriage and obesity are her main concerns? Don't worry if obama wins again all those overweight people will be skinny due to the fact they are broke and homeless. And gay marriage will certainly boost the economy via sales of glitter.

  13. 13

Re: reply to this – Really???? another kool-aid drinking sheople for god sakes. So, if someone voted for Romney because they hate black people, you would applaud them for voting. What a idiotic thing to say. Quit following Perez and all these liberal retards blindly and think for yourself. People can do as much harm voting for the wrong people as they can not voting at all. Get your head out of your ass.

  14. Kimberly N. says – reply to this

Oh yes because gay marriage is WAY more important than jobs & the economy. Makes perfect sense…

  15. calin says – reply to this

as a gay man I rather be poor and unemployed than be treated as a second class citizen if Romney becomes president, my vote is for OBAMA.

  16. c says – reply to this

DO YOUR HOMEWORK ! massachusetts was the first state to pass gay MARRIAGE under Romney's watch .. before making assumptions about people just because of the party they belong to .. maybe read up a little about what they have been instrumental in in the past. common sense.

This country was founded on the belief that religion should not be imposed by government and if YOU don't like that idea, I suggest you consider leaving the country.

Re: InformedandProud – You do realize that the "Under God" portion of the pledge wasn't added until the 1950s, right? So much for being informed.

  19. 19

that is really stupid. the economy is in the toliet and potus and hillary clinton are straight up lying about Benghazi, this dumb ass is worried about homo marriage. well it must be nice to have money if homo marriage is your one trick pony. won't be buying anymore of this womans records.

  20. Heh says – reply to this

    mmmmm hmmmmm …

  21. 21

It's interesting to me how people think gay marriage is the most important issue in this election. When the economy fails, we'll all be miserable anyway. Shouldn't we work on the economy before we worry about marriage?

  22. chelsiemay says – reply to this

It's true that Obama's policies have added to the debt, they have contributed around $1.44 trillion — about half of that in the form of the stimulus package. The tax cuts, wars, and other policies enacted before Obama took office, by contrast, opened up a $5.07 trillion hole in the budget — over three times as much. Bottom line is a lot of these posts have little to do with someone's opinion over politics and more to do with HATE. That's what America is all about … HATING others. So go ahead, HATE on me now as I'm sure I deserve it.

  23. 23

Perez, don't you remember that up until a few months ago, your boy Barack Obama said that his faith leads him to believe that marriage is between a man and a woman? Then he became so desperate for voters that he changed his mind to try to pick up the gay and pro-gay vote. Do you really think Obama gives a flying flip about gay rights? He's just saying that so he can round up some more voters. Kelly Clarkson is an idiot for not voting for what the real #1 priority is, which is fixing our economy.

Its funny that people think that there are only two candidates. As a gay man who values fiscal responsibility (probably more so than civil rights at this exact point in history), I will be voting for Gary Johnson.

Get educated, people. Get out from under the lies and deceit, and realize that the GOP and DNC are both corrupt and clueless.

  28. 28

Does anyone remember when she stood behind Ron Paul and everyone got so shitty and thought it was disgusting, yet she can stand behind Obama or Romney and it's okay.

This world is fucked up and needs a serious fix and neither R-money or Obama can do it.

    Re: babiipiinko6x

I don't care who she votes for, that is her choice and her right as an American. However, since she stated that she is going to vote for OBAMA because of one issue that shows how ignorant and out of touch with reality that she really is. I am for marriage equality for everyone however, right now marriage equality is not an issue that we need to focus on. We need to worry about fixing the economy first. Obama like Bush proved that they are not capable of running this country, and who knows if Romney will be any better however, anyone can be better than the two previous presidents that the people of this great country have been stupid enough to vote into office.

I have to agree with hoochpit on this one. I'm not going to use the same strong language, but the content of what he says I agree with 100%. It seems that liberals live their lives ignoring the real issues and only vote on what "feels" good to them. I wish they would make educated decisions instead. If they did, it would be a no-brainer. Romney is head and shoulders above Obama!

  34. CoffeeJones says – reply to this

Re: rosebud99 – How is Romney's plan vague exactly? 1) Make North America energy independent. 2) Empower up and comers with the education and skills they need to work in the job market. 3) Encourage trade, especially in Latin America, and place trade restrictions on China if they continue to manipulate their currency unfairly. 4) Move the US towards a balanced budget (I'll be shocked if this ever happens without a total collapse of the Federal Government). 5) Encourage small business growth by cutting taxes on small businesses. And by the way, as far as making "the rich richer and the poor poorer", that is such a crock. For 90%+ people in this country, the only reason they are poor is because of these reasons: They are LAZY and ENTITLED. They don't want to work and they believe they believe they deserve to be taken care of with income stolen from people who have earned it. There are hundreds of examples of people who started in this country with nothing and worked their way to prosperity, and in the interest of "fairness", we take 30%-40% of their income (and tax that income again when they make good investments and receive a return), and that's supposed to be fair?

  35. 35

That's right Kelly Clarkson!!! You vote girl. I am voting for Obama too. He killed Osama Bin Laden and the economy has improved and will keep improving. People are stupid if they think voting for wishy washy lying Mitt Romney is going to make the country better. hahaha. All you dumb conservatives are fooling yourselves. My 401K says to vote for Obama!!!! George Bush and the Republicans brought this country to the brink of disaster. Obama has brought it out of a mess and will continue to make it better!!!!!

Re: shaygirl1309 – Shut up! I will be buying even more of her music now. Oh and I already own everything this amazing artist has put out. Your comment is ridiculous and I am sure she doesn't care if you buy her music since you are obviously not interested in everyone being treated fairly and equally. Vote for your lying Romney. He is going to cut every deduction you have you dumb ass.

  37. 37

Re: David Clark – He is not. That is your opinion not everyone elses. Obama is going to win. Thank God!!!

Re: hoochpit – It appears that many voted for Obama as if he were not guilty of crimes against the nation and most recently the murder of four civilians in Benghazi. How was he responsible, you ask? He could have approved the use of armed forces who could easily have prevented the destruction of the buildings and the loss of life there. He chose to insist that the armed forces NOT go to the aid of the ambassador and the brave men at his side. And some folks want a traitor to live in the White House and day by day chip away at our freedom.

Re: Supersasi – Bush led the nation well and honorably. The mess we're in is now entirely the fault of Obama, the Muslim who wants us powerless in the world and is working to accomplish that feat daily.

Re: David Clark – In particular Romney is superior in that HE is a patriot and wants the U.S.A. to return to greatness. Obama's aim is to destroy our economy, and he may be able to accomplish this unless impeachment prevents.
