Justin Timberlake's Homeless Wedding Video: The Super Long, Super Sincere Apology Letter!

justin timberlake wedding photo homeless video apology

What a guy!

Even though he had nothing to do with the creation of the homeless wedding video that hurt and offended its participant, Justin Timberlake wants to make amends.

In an effort to apologize for his friend's actions and the association his fame brings to the scandal, Justin is raising awareness about the importance of compassionate humanity via ONE LONG ASS letter.

He's also making his friend do 100 hours of community service.

Nice work, JT!!!

Read the letter in full …AFTER THE JUMP!

To my family, friends, and fans:

The last time I wrote a letter like this, it was when I had the good fortune of attending a once in a lifetime experience by sharing an evening with some of America's finest at the Marine Corps Ball about a year ago. I was so moved by that night, I wanted to share it with everyone. Unfortunately, this letter holds a different kind of weight for me.

Normally, as some of you know, I am (by nature) a pretty private person. So, I don't really take it upon myself to comment on things that so often go misunderstood or something that has even shed any kind of dark light on what was and will always be one of the most special weeks of my life. But, in light of the recent events, I can't fight the urge to clarify my thoughts and feelings on what has been a very upsetting portrayal of the people closest to me and myself. It's not who I am as a professional or as a man.

I can't help but think of one of the many great life lessons my Grandfather has taught me… He told me when I was younger that "Sometimes, you are confronted with challenges in life that perhaps are not your own. And, when those moments arise, the right thing for a man to do is accept that responsibility, whatever it may be, and face it with honesty and humility."

So, I'm taking his advice. If for no other reason, than to clear the air so no one has to ever wonder how I feel about it.

I'd like to start off by saying that I don't live my life making fun of people (unless, of course, I'm making fun of myself on SNL)… Especially, those who are less fortunate or those in need. I grew up with a family and community that instilled ideals in me like hard work, honesty and empathy. As a matter of fact, growing up in Tennessee, I was always taught that we as people, no matter what your race, sex, or stature may be, are equal. We have a saying there that "Everyone puts their pants on the same way(maybe this saying doesn't apply to guys who wear kilts. Although, I'm sure they put theirs on the same way too…)"

As it pertains to this silly, unsavory video that was made as a joke and not in any way in mockery:

1. I had no knowledge of its existence. I had absolutely ZERO contribution to it.

2. My friends are good people. This was clearly a lapse in judgment which I'm sure no one who is reading this is exempt from. But, I don't believe it was made to be insensitive. More so, I think it was made as a joke on me not having that many friends attending my own wedding(which IS kind of funny if you think about it).

3. Like many silly rumors that I have been made aware of about the week: It was NOT shown at my wedding.

4. I think we can all agree that it was distasteful, even though that was not it's intention.
Once again, in the world that we live in where everyone thinks that they know everything, I want to be very clear… I am NOT defending the video. I agree with the overall consensus. But, to use another "pants" analogy… It seems that these days, misconception gets around the world before the actual truth even wakes up and gets it's pants on.

I want to say that, on behalf of my friends, family, and associative knuckleheads, I am deeply sorry to anyone who was offended by the video. Again, it was something that I was not made aware of. But, I do understand the reaction and, by association, I am holding myself accountable.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my thoughts. It really is a blessing to be able to speak directly to my true fans so that you can know exactly where I stand.

-Justin

P.S. You can bet your ass that I'm having my friend do at least 100 hours of community service… Boom.

i just love him … boom

  2. 2

Usually the bride is the star of her wedding, not in this picture, Jessica in the back, in pink, with her bridesmaids in white, and the groom in front!

  3. 3

Very nice letter. Classy of him to own up to something he wasn't directly responsible for. He seems like a very nice person. It was goo of him to address the video. He's impossible not to like.

  4. 4

Fuck him. 6 million for a wedding and WORDS for the poor and homeless. He needs to get that saddle on Biel and make sure the bit fits her mouth.

now this is the way people are suppose to handle situations like this *bravo Justin" class act.

Re: misscheriamor – Who are you kidding? He owned up to nothing. He's only apologizing because of his friends that had a so called lapse in judgement. Right! I believe that. Not! He's an arrogant and pompus ass and is everything like his friends. This letter is only being sent out because I imagine one of his so called good friends leaked the video to a gossip website for $$$$$.

  7. 7

So his "friend" doesn't know him well at all.?? He made it thinking JT would get a giggle out of it. Give me a break!

  8. 8

God damn them some ugly horse faced bitches in the back ground.

  9. 9

Justin is ON MY SICK MF LIST; there are photos with Justin laughing at the homeless in the video….

HEY JUSTIN, what was it like SUCKING OFF Lou Pearlman to get the JOB in NSYNC; DID YOU SWALLOW?

This guy is such an unbelievable narcissist …the guitar playing while she walked down the aisle, the attention hogging pics..wtf ??? it was really disrespectful to Jessica ..even the letter is just more of him talking about himself

  11. 11

Justin has a SMALL PEEN & BRITNEY could not feel it when he DID her….

Timberlake can't be blamed for any of this, except for maybe having poor taste in friends. His friend, Justin Huchel, has an obvious hate towards poor people ((and women… check out his "fingerbang" video)). Go to "Funny or Die", and you can see some of his videos. Especially repulsive is "Do They Know There's No Santa?" The song makes fun of the poor, and suggests that they should tell their kids that Santa is dead, and that they should get their toys from UNICEF. A class act.

  13. 13

I'm not buying it. Did he stop the video when he knew the nature of it - NO - he laughed. This is about as sincere as him saying he wished his grandfather could be at his wedding. If he really wanted him there, he would have made it happen.

Re: Millicent Poodlesmith – After I read your comment I had to go back and look at the photo again - I didn't even notice her in the picture.

  14. 14

    His publicist/damage-control team wrote that!

Re: ||Jenna|| – It's very obvious he wrote this himself. I feel bad for him that he has to take responsibility for something a friend did that he didn't know about it. That some people hold him responsible says more about them. Justin is one class act for writing this. I'm sure his friend feels like an asshole.

  16. Hannah says – reply to this

    16

I don't buy a word he says, he is seen laughing at the video. In the above picture it was all about him, while his new bride is behind him, it is a tacky picture, just like the picture on people magazine, it was all about him. I don't think their marriage will last, because he is just too full of himself. I wish Jessica the best of luck, she is going to need it.

  17. 17

Did his friend pay the people for their comments? Did he donate to a homelss shelter? If he didn't this is what I find offensive. I think there was too much to do about this. I don't think Justin wrote this letter either, btw. His publicist did.

  18. Lety says – reply to this

    18

This doesn't sound sincere at all. Did we read the same letter. "What a guy" , are you serious. This letter is filled with sarcastic joke after joke. If it was a since apology it would have been serious, and that ending, the whole P.S. thing. 100 hours of community service, really? Another joke. He just proved with this letter he doesn't care, cause he knows there are dumb people out there who would rather keep on kissing his ass then see the situation for what it really was, disgusting. Great way to set an example Perez, your all about gay rights and anti-bulling, but I see you care more about JT's fame then about the homeless, their rights and their feelings.

  19. Alan Brickman says – reply to this

    19

Justin shouldn't have to apologize….So what are the politcally corrects doing for the homeless again???

  20. Alan Brickman says – reply to this

    20

so much hate on this site these days..what are you doing to help the homeless?…

  21. 21

N'sync Chris Kirkpatrick Speaks Out Audio from Chris Kirkpatrick on Orlando's Johnny's House speaking out over not being invited to JT's Wedding and his own engagement.

  22. Melinda says – reply to this

    22

You're a fucking idiot, Perez. That letter wasn't sincere, it was Justin Timberlake, performing the Justin Timberlake show, as per always. Jessica Beil didn't even get to be the center of attention at her own wedding.

  23. katylan says – reply to this

    23

Did you read the same letter I read Perez? He spends the ENTIRE letter trying to make himself look better and at one point makes it as if he is a hero. He also throws in an inappropriate joke in the letter. Why's he always 'got to be funny'? Oh and he actually says that the idea 'if we think about it is actually funny'. WHAT? So, he was amused by his friends video afterall! And last but not least, he never ONCE says anything to the poor people that were humiliated. And don't get me started on the grammatical errors. This guy really, really thinks he is great. Me, myself and I.

  24. 24

looks like a nightmare - 2 to 3 years tops.

  25. 25

    blah blah blahhhhhh

  26. 26

thats because justin seems to crave to a be a hollywood heavyweight and i guess he thinks marrying her will help that
