Barack Obama inspired many Americans to become first-time voters in 2008 and he wants to do it again in 2012, so he enlisted in the help of Lena Dunham.
In a cute new campaign ad (above), the Girls creator begins to talk about voting as if it's like losing your virginity and says:
"Your first time shouldn't be with just anybody. You want to do it with a great guy … Someone who really cares about and understands women."
She proceeds to launch into a tirade of reasons why the President is a better candidate than Mitt Romney by citing his policies on health insurance, birth control, ending the Iraq war and gay marriage.
Her first time voting was for Obama in 2008 and she calls the experience "amazing" because she went into the polling booth "a girl" and came out "a woman."
Unfortunately, this metaphor may have been too risqué for the conservative crowd (people have sex?! AHHHH!!!!) and maybe even voters sitting pretty in the middle of the political spectrum. The YouTube video has garnered a majority of "dislikes" and enraged right wing pundits.
And by enraged, we mean they're pretending to be offended because they see an opportunity to pounce on the President.
