Rich or poor, skinny or fat, secularist or Scientologist, Hurricane Sandy continues to affect everyone in New York City!
Katie Holmes, like many other Chelsea residents, were sadly displaced in the wake of the deadly catastrophe.
She and daughter Suri Cruise weathered the storm, literally, for as long as possible, but the devastating effects eventually forced them to relocate.
One of her neighbors offers insight into the situation. They said:
“The power abruptly went out around 8:30 p.m. PT Monday, leaving everyone sitting around torchlight or candle light. Most folks stayed in the building over night and most of the next day until the water went out, making it impossible to even flush the toilet. At that point everyone, including Katie and Suri, left.”
Thankfully, they found a place to stay in the Upper-East Side's swanky Mark Hotel.
Another source close to the situation offered:
“Suri might be used to helicopters and chauffeured cars … once the storm, hit we were all the same … [Katie and Suri] had to walk from the 12th floor, with no lights, like everyone else.”
We doubt the A-list actress and her lovely daughter usually keep chauffeurs in the 12th floor's staircase and we imagine the situation was terrifying !
We're so happy they safely traveled to shelter!
