Jon Bon Jovi Mourns The Loss Of His Jersey Shore Following Hurricane Sandy

We're still in shock from the devastation of Hurricane Sandy.

Lives, homes, memories — they were all ripped away from East-Coasters. Clearly it's an extremely painful situation that many Americans are dealing with right now.

Our heart hasn't hurt this bad in a looooong time.

And neither has Jon Bon Jovi's.

Describing his feelings to Today, the Sayreville native mourned the losses, saying:

"It’s gone. The entire Jersey Shore that I knew is gone. It was hard to see your hometown devastated like this and people that I grew up with… My grammar school turned into a shelter. People’s homes gone and them saying to me, 'We are now homeless. We never intended to be homeless.' These are hard-working, blue-collar people."

Tearing up!

Jovi was one of the performers at Friday night's Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together relief concert. He and others such as Christina Aguilera belted their blues in hopes of raising money for the suffering coast.

Our heart is with you, East Coast!! We can push through this!!

Why would you suggest anyone give to the Red Cross, they have done shit for the victims
Hot chocolate and cookies don't cut it,
They use the $$$ to pay high salaries to staff

As a senior on a fixed income, would like to send a small amount amount and looking for a charity that does not have such tremendous overhead like Red Cross. If anyone has some suggestions, please post them, thanks.

Re: teeter totter – I no longer give to the Red Cross either. Salvation Army was my pick also Samaritans Purse if you don't mind religious afillations. catholic charities always do good work as well.

Re: JuleRe: cari – it would just be nice if bon julie and springsteen would pay their taxes like the rest of us. springsteen grows vegitables and bon julie has honeybees so they can qualify for farm subsidies for their MANSIONS. hero's they are not

I know this feeling of loss as I grew up and lived many years in NJ. I spent summers down the Jersey Shore in Belmar, NJ… Over the years Belmar has changed her facade to a Victorian Manor replicas on Ocean Avenue where once stood homey-type bungalows and family-oriented hotels like the "Ocean Wave" that used to stand on the corner of 13th Ave and Ocean. But now, more than likely, even new homes of Belmar are washed away by Sandy. In Seaside Heights the rides I loved are all drowning in the Atlantic Ocean and most of Atlantic City's famed Boardwalk is ripped from shore into the ocean and what may be left surely is warped beyond repair… Yes, I mourn for this loss as does BonJovi and any New Jersey resident, present or former, as I am the latter. I have lived all through the US, even in coastal CA. but no shoreline could equal the Jersey Shore ever…

Re: Mr Pete – You are almost 100% right. Not the lowly staff, but the ones higher up… and there are LOTS of them.

All the negative comments about Jon. He is one of the most real, honest, caring people I have ever known. He is not saying that his hometown is the Jersey Shore. He used to surf there. I feel bad about his beautiful house. whether he has money or not, nobody should have to go through losing their home. All you out there saying the negative stuff…if you can't say anything nice, then it would be better for you not to say anything at all.
