Barack Obama Writes Inspirational Letter To Bullied Young Girl With Two Dads!
Awww!! This story is heartwarming enough to defrost a frozen turkey!
Ten-year-old Sophia Bailey Klugh is an inspiration to us all!
She's blessed to have two very loving fathers, but some of her classmates tease her about being raised in of a non-traditional family!
Brave Sophia did what few 10 year-olds might think to do, she wrote a letter to her President, asking him for help.
"[Mr. President,] I am so glad that you agree two men can love each other because I have two dads and they love each other, but at school kids think that it's gross and weird, but it really hurts my heart and feelings…. If you were me and you had two dads that loved each other and kids at school teased you about it, what would you do?
It's absolutely tragic that we live in a society where parents pass hateful thoughts down to their children. Thankfully, there are compassionate young girls like Sophia who find the courage to ask for help!!
Admirably, President Barack Obama made the time to respond to the young girl's inquiry.
Amidst an extremely busy schedule brought about by running both a country and a re-election campaign, the Prez wrote Sophia back and asked her to stay brave.
He said:
"Dear Sophia,
Thank you for writing me such a thoughtful letter about your family. Reading it made me proud to be your president and even more hopeful about the future of our nation.
In America, no two families look the same. We celebrate this diversity. And we recognize that whether you have two dads or one mom what matters above all is the love we show one another. You are very fortunate to have two parents who care deeply for you. They are lucky to have such an exceptional daughter in you."
What an excellent response!
Diversity should be cherished and families should be applauded for loving one another above all else.
After seeing what a sweet, thoughtful young girl these two fathers raised, we wonder how anyone could believe same-sex couples are unfit for parenting!
Candidate Mitt Romney has already spoken out AGAINST gay parents adopting children.
It's election day; don't forget to vote and make your voice heard!!

I am very disturbed that Obama, or more likely members of his staff take the time to type out a personal note to this girl but can't bother showing the same respect to fallen soldiers. If they have time to answer little girls letters, they can take 5 minutes to show respect to soldier's loved ones.

That is super cute. He is such an inspiration for lots of people. And the "I'm sorry I couldn't make it to dinner" part is soooo sweet.
But I understand some people can be against him. And I think everyone should have the right so say what they think without being insulted, it's really not a reason to be rude.

When so many dads (and moms) don't spend enough time with their kids, and there are so many single parent families, this little girl is very lucky to have 2 parents who love her. The fact that they are both male does not matter. They are obviously raising her to stand up for herself and to be an intelligent girl . Families are about love, not what sex your parents are.
Coming from a military wife, this is sweet. Its amazing he wrote her back. The president probably responds to as many letters as he can but everyone on here saying he doesnt care about service men is wrong. Think about it he probably tries to respond and write the service men all a letter but its hard to write everyone back. He did a good thing, hes not perfect.
Sad that she gets bullied, but amazing that Obama replied to her! Stay strong Sophia! You are worth twenty times more than your bullies!
