Thank goodness!

This was COMPLETELY unacceptable, and we're at least relieved to know that it's not being tolerated!

After Cincinnati Fox News anchor Tricia Macke garnered some completely-justified heat for mocking MSNBC host Rachel Maddow, who is openly gay, by calling her "an angry young man" on her Facebook page, the WXIX station's management did the right thing by not only suspending her from her position, but had her issue an apology for her blatant homophobia!

The station released the following statement:

We have received several expressions of concerns about a recent Facebook posting by FOX19 Anchor Tricia Macke on her personal Facebook page. Tricia’s response is provided below and is also posted on her personal Facebook page. We also apologize to anyone who may have been offended by her comments.

WXIX Station Management

I recently posted comments on my personal Facebook page regarding cable news anchor Rachel Maddow which were insensitive and inappropriate. I apologize to Ms. Maddow and any others who may have been offended by my comments, as they do not reflect my firm beliefs in individual and equal rights, and they certainly do not represent the opinions or position of my employer WXIX-TV.

Good! It's about time people stopped treating their Facebook like private diaries - ESPECIALLY those in the public eye!

We sincerely hope that despite the obvious pressure from above to make amends, Tricia used this as an opportunity to really reflect on her behavior and become more conscientious of the ramifications of such offensive, limited, and reckless hate masked as an opinion!

EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ALL!

You made a joke about ethnic cleansing yesterday, maybe you should be suspended for a few weeks too. Hypocritical douchebag.

Ok, this definitely qualifies as being overly-sensitive. …She does look like an angry young man - when someone wears too much makeup, and we call them a clown… is that worthy of suspension? She's in a high profile position sure, but I hardly think she meant anything malicious other than being condescending about choice of style NOT lifestyle…

Shit Fario, you hypocritical D-bag, you insult people all of the time. RM is an angry little boy, much as you are an angry little girl.

  7. 7

Didn't you use to refer to Samantha Ronson as a man? Hypocrite!

Maddow can dish it out (as do the other tools on MSNBC) but can't take it when it comes back at her/him. She should man up and stop whining.

  9. 9

if your comments don't reflect your beliefs why did you say them ??? so not only are you a homophobe, you're a liar too.

once again another forced, disingenuous apology. this tricia twit probably thinks she looks like a "real" woman but basically there is nothing "real" about her. fake orange tan, fake bleached blonde hair, fake bleached white teeth. and how original, calling a lesbian a man. wow, we've never heard that one before.

“A constant 14 percent of the feedback I get is hate mail. But a 100 percent of that 14 percent hate mail is about what what I look like: ‘I hate you not because of what you said, or some argument or some position that you have, but I hate you because you’re Rachel MadCOW, because you look like a cow’ or ‘you’re Rachel, but I’m going to call you him.’ (fake laughs) That’s the funniest joke in the whole world! It’s the same joke every time. … I want new hate mail. I want it to be about something other than me being mannish and cow-like.” - Rachel Maddow

Oh F you Perez! You want special rights, not equal rights. Her saying those comments does not make her a homophobe, she's just stating her opinion of what RM looks like. Which, by the way, if you don't want to look like a man don't dress and do your hair like one. I think she looks and acts like an angry little man. I'm certainly not a homophobe. Have plenty of gay friends and coworkers who also think she looks like an angry little man. Tricia, Cincinnati loves you!

Welcome to the New Black Card!! She looks like a man. She probably took it as a compliment since she has DADDY ISSUES dressing like a dude.. Nothing woman about that, only a woman would find IT attractive..

Re: Mad Dog – Perez is a gossip site, with almost no rules, she is supposed to be a journalist on television with some standards for her conduct.

    Actually, she's a doctor, not a miss

Re: Mad Dog – Yes, it's true, every time he mentioned her, he called her SaMantha. And he thought that was perfectly alright. If anybody else does the same type of thing, he writes this, "We sincerely hope that despite the obvious pressure from above to make amends, Tricia used this as an opportunity to really reflect on her behavior and become more conscientious of the ramifications of such offensive, limited, and reckless hate masked as an opinion!" Surely Perez realizes he is talking about himself? How can a person be so unaware of the things they write, then judge others for saying the same things? I don't get it.
