Before we could even truly process the news that Courtney Stodden would be performing a song and pole dance the night before Thanksgiving at iconic West Hollywood gay club The Abbey, it's NO LONGER HAPPENING!
We know! We don't know whether to be infinitely relieved or thoroughly disappointed!
Either way, though, there is some DEFINITE DRAMA as to the reasons behind why the teen bride was sacked less than a day after her debut was announced!
"Her management approached the Abbey but ultimately she just wasn't a fit."
Her management - and mother - reveal that this may not be the entire case!
Rep. Jim Strzalkowski says in a statement:
"The reasons for the cancellation provided by SBE are a mystery to us and based on fear, in our opinion. It is most unfortunate that a venue such as the SBE-controlled Abbey needs to approve and censor performers that audiences want to see, and would not be able to control the crowds and paparazzi anxious to see Courtney's show. Courtney Stodden has a huge gay fan base and truly loves and adores everyone in the community. At this time, Courtney is heartbroken and we are currently seeking alternate opportunities for Courtney to make her debut club performance in West Hollywood."
And mom-ager Krista Keller furthers:
"It was too much for the Abbey to handle, too much press and controversy. Courtney's not disappointed. She rolls with the punches."
Well, we certainly think that she makes a good point there!
We couldn't get rid of Miss Stodden even if we wanted to!
She just keeps popping back up, more scantily-clad, uncomfortably sexual, and controversial than before!
Although perhaps it's for the best that things didn't work out with The Abbey!
All of those club-goers want to make sure they still have their appetites for turkey the next day, after all!
Better luck next time, gurl! We'll be singing Don't Put It On Me in your honor for the rest of the week!
