You don't disrespect Babs!
You just don't do it!!
And on Wednesday, Barbara Walters kept it real when discussing Lindsay Lohan's cancelled interview on The View.
She said Linds had promised her the first interview, and when Linds cancelled, she said she'd reschedule "when it was right," to which Babs quipped:
"I should live so long."
See! We told you Babs don't play!
Of course, as fiery as she can be, she maintains her classy composure at the end of the day and immediately felt remorse for what she said.
So to ease the blow, she followed up with:
"I want to take it back. I'd love to interview her. Start fresh without the few clouds that are over her. She’s a nice girl, and I appreciate what she said."
"What happened is that Lindsay Lohan had promised me her first interview. And, you know, there are certain questions that should be asked, and just before the interview, her new PR people canceled."
But they didn't cancel on Jay Leno.
And Babs made sure to comment on that too:
"I heard she was going to do Jay. And Jay — I have to say — was very sweet, he called me and said, 'Look, I didn’t take her from you' and so on. [But] I’d been working forever on the questions. I’d gone to California to show her on Liz & Dick."
"If they had said to me, 'You know, Barbara, she isn’t up to the kinds of questions that you might ask… if they had told me that, I wouldn’t feel quite as disappointed as I do today."
Surely the PR peeps didn't want Linds getting in any legal troubles, but missing a chance to interview with Barbara could quite possibly be one of the worst things you could do when you're trying revamp your image as a serious actress.
