Chevy Chase Calls It Quits On NBC's Community

This news would be so much more exciting if it happened three years ago!!!

Community, the show with the super loyal fan base and the bosses who just don't seem to get it, has lost (or gained) one of its major stars on the show - Chevy Chase.

The actor has had a tenuous relationship with the show and its producers to say the least. Nothing too big. He just tossed the N word around, and got in a pissing match with the creator of the show Dan Harmon which resulted in Harmon being fired off of his own show. You know - the usual.

The actor's departure isn't too big of a surprise since he at one point said:

“It was a big mistake! I just sort of hung around because I have three daughters and a wife, and I figured out I might as well make some bread, every week, so I can take care of them in the way they want … The hours are hideous, and it’s still a sitcom on television, which is probably the lowest form of television.”

Although Chase has already filmed every episode for this season except for one or two episodes, if there are more seasons of the show (a big IF) then the loss of Chase probably won't impact the ensemble cast. Many fans of the show considered Chase the weak link anyway.

The premiere date for the new season is February 7th on Thursdays at 8pm. Many consider this to be the final season of the cult show, so Chase might have just jumped ship before he was let go anyway.

How did one of the funnier men in Hollywood turn into such a bitter old man?

He's so weird and washed-up. He and Kelsey Grammar are probably buds and should get a show of their own that will air on USA on a friday night at 11:00pm. Ugh….the ONLY thing good about Chevy is his Labrador Retriever neck tie.

Why doesn't Chevy rally a group of his homey comic pros and do their own show?

"…so I can take care of them the way they want." Can't even take the responsibility for his own decision. He has to blame them, poor things.

I'm a fan of Community and I can honestly say Chevy is the worst thing about the show he doesn't even bring anything unique to the show and half the stuff he says could be funny if only he would put all he got into the character which he doesn't. Sure he was good up until the early 90's (I'm actually being to nice to the guy he was good on SNL even then not funny). Good riddance and hope he stays in the shadows of unfunny washed up comedians.

Re: Dominick – You are so right…this man is a bore and has ALWAYS been. I'm sure everyone on the show is jumping with joy to be rid of this old, washed-up camera hog.

I think he's absolutely hilarious. It'll all be a bit shit without him. And speaking of a bitter man so bitterly? The irony. Stop talking bollocks Perez. I don't even know why I'm on this crap site anyway. I thought your stuff was meant to be hilarious and/insightful. It's failed on both accounts. Enticing titles to find a Google image of some celebrity head-shot and a couple of futile lines of drivel against this pukey vaginal pink background. I think Chevy Chase should take over.

Chevy Chase is what makes it funny to me! Its his dry, subtle humor that does it. Its not in your face, like alot of other American humor. Why do all the funniest people in shows leave…Robert Sheehan, Misfits! Stink!
