If networks could talk, NBC would say: SUCK IT CBS!!
But, NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt, disagrees. Speaking on behalf of the network that just won Nov. sweeps for the first time in NINE years, Bob said:
“The fact we jumped from fourth [place] to first, and haven’t been in this position in nine years, is really astonishing to all of us.”
Well, that is slightly more eloquent than our sentiment.
But srsly, this is astonishing.
With 25 of the 28 nights of the sweeps period concluded, NBC is in first place among adults 18-49, averaging a 2.8 rating, up 17 percent from last fall. Of course, they can credit their win to the success of the The Voice.
Greenblatt says he doesn’t expect NBC to remain in front, but would be happy to even rank third. The exec says he feels:
“pretty confident we’re not going to end up in fourth place again this year … Obviously there’s some big competitive things coming. We expect a pretty significant leveling of the playing field.”
Boo! Don't be negative Bobby!
This is NBC's opportunity to celebrate for the first time in a looong time.
