Lenny Kravitz Is Marvin Gaye! Filming Starts 2013!

Umm… this is sort of perfect!!
As much as we love Lenny Kravitz gyrating with his mic pole, he's totally been impressing us with his Thespian chops. So hey! The more, the merrier!
With Precious and Hunger Games under his belt, Lenny has been chosen to portray the legendary Marvin Gaye in a new film helmed by Julien Temple.
Focusing on the soul singer's time in Europe — and his subsequent battle with addiction — the 80s biopic is scheduled to begin filming sometime next year. Whoo!
As we're sure you know, Marvin was tragically shot by his father and died on April 1, 1984 right here in Tinsel Town. And there's no doubt that Lenny will give his all to honor the late great!
We love him! Especially that Fly Away video… perfection! XX

From what I've seen of Lenny's acting career he has chosen roles wisely and done a good job of actually acting. He is one of the rare exceptions where I can take a singer seriously as an actor. I definitely think he can do this justice.

Great choice! I met Marvin Gaye in the 1980's. He was BEAUTIFUL and so, SO gracious. A month later, he was dead.
Damn it! I love Lenny, but I really believe that Jesse L. Martin would do a great job as Marvin. That is a movie Jesse was born to play. He is a fantastic actor and he sings ……NO! He SAAANGS
