Daniel Day-Lewis Made Spielberg Address Him As Mr. President?!?!

Steven Spielberg is one of the most powerful men in Hollywood, but when you recruit an actor like Daniel Day-Lewis - it is his way or the highway.
The price for his services is worth it!!!
So we weren't surprised to hear Luke Haas describe how it was to work with the two on Lincoln and how intense of an actor Day-Lewis is.
"You could only address him as Mr. President. Even Spielberg [had to]. [Day-Lewis] is one of the best actors out there. By far. I'm not sure who you could put above him."
Oh yeah?!?!
Well, how about that guy that was in There Will Be Blood!!! He was wayyyy better, oh, that was the same guy?
Or, well how about that actor from Gangs Of New York — he was so much better than, dammit are you serious? You're telling us that was Daniel Day-Lewis, too???
Dude is a frickin' chameleon!!! It is actually a bit unsettling.
Unsettling awesome!!!

Dan Savage Scores Marriage License In Washington!

He absolutely disappeared into the role of Lincoln. I've never seen anything like it.
Like most Hollywood bafoons, he's as crazy as a shit house rat.
Re: Ojsakila – Yes he is crazy, but he's of the brilliant crazy mold.
I doubt he'd appreciate you lumping him with the Hollywood types.
The reason Daniel Day Lewis is such a good actor is cause he goes above and beyond to become the character. While filming 'there will be blood' he didn't stay in a hotel room, he slept in a tent outside. He is a great actor cause he steps out of the comfort zone to become that character.
You forget THE yummiest role ever, with the help of ine of the BEST movie scores: "Last of the Mohicans"…an I lost my heart to Mr. Day-Lewis FOREVER!!!!!!!!!
Actually, I saw a LINCOLN screening and Q&A with Spielberg about two weeks ago, and straight from the maestro's mouth, Spielberg said that HE was the one who asked Day-Lewis if it was OK to address him as Mr. President. Apparently, Day-Lewis laughed and said 'Sure'. Spielberg also referred to Sally Field as "Molly" and even David Straitham as "Mr. Seward". Spielberg also said that he wanted the set to feel as presidential as possible, so he wore a suit to work every day. So … maybe the crazy isn't ALL Daniel Day-Lewis' doing. (But the performance certainly is! What an amazing experience.)
