Kate Middleton Pranksters Show Teary-Eyed Remorse After Radio Station Terminates Their Show!

| Filed under: Royals RoyceKate MiddletonSad Sad

So sad!

When Aussie DJs Mel Greig and Michael Christian called King Edward VII Hospital last week posing as Royals, they were unprepared for what would follow!

Nurse Jacintha Saldanha took her own life, and the DJs are left trying to figure out what went wrong as their radio station tries to ensure this horrendously unfortunate event can never be replicated

Ch-ch-check out the genuinely heartbreaking first interview the radio personalities gave after learning about the passing of Kate Middleton's nurse (above)!

Regardless of the appropriateness of the prank, it's clear Mike and Mel are sorry for how their actions may have contributed to Jacintha's death.

The 2Day FM station has since canceled the morning show, suspended advertising sales, banned any further prank calls, and began a company-wide review of "relevant company policies and processes."

The world is deeply saddened by this senseless tragedy.

Hopefully Jacintha's husband and kids are coping as well as can be expected.

The methods that people use to get information for the sake of media is just sickening. I bet they're more sorry that their station got axed! Imagine if the woman didn't kill herself, she probably would have gotten fired instead and these people would not show an ounce of sympathy!

  2. 2

This is a bunch of shit. These two can't have known that the nurse had big mental problems and would kill herself … we don't even know if the joke had anything to do with her SELFISH decision to end it. No one knew who she was until after she took her own life; this isn't about public humiliation. It's about a woman who needed to be medicated and who shouldn't have been working in healthcare if she was that fucking fragile and unstable. I'm sick of all you liberal crybabies ignoring the fact that the woman made a CHOICE. I am in sympathy with the radio people, and those of you who disagree can kiss my ass. You touchy feely types have RUINED society. Suck it up and STFU about this already, homo.

  3. 3

ive heard heaps of these type of pranks on the radio recently one was even to the queens residence at sandringham alot of them local or overseas wasnt just these two twats doing it ..alot of the radio shows doing pranks

THEY DO NOT DESERVE THE BLAME FOR SOMEONE CHOOSING TO OFF THEMSELVES …

sure the prank was dum but thats not enough reason for them to be blamed …i say not their fault…they ve been fired that should be enough…

Genuine? Okay so now is the time for your people to check some facts Perez. Not trying to slam you all but their remorse is far from genuine. to begin with it is what they do, create drama, and had some fact checking been done they would of seen this is not the first time they had issues with their so called pranks negatively affecting innocent lives. An example that is well documented, they has a 12 yr old girl take a lie detector in front of her mom about whether or not she had sex. Well the child did not have sex but was raped….and they did more, they are numerous documented cases of their previous poor pranks…please, please before you say someone is remorseful do some serious fact-checking.

Re: BLAHS – You're an asshole. The nurse was obviously a fucked up mess who should've been in another line of work. If she killed herself over something so completely not about her, then perhaps the world is a better place without another fragile whiner polluting the place. COPING SKILLS work. Wrapping everyone in cotton does NOT. Coddling people creates mental midgets. WTF is wrong with you that you don't get that? You're a sorry specimen of the gene pool. Please eliminate yourself.

Re: Sheila – that wasnt even them it was someone else and how were they to know that would happen ..

the woman as sad as it is rip for her truelly sorry to hear this but its not their fault she did that she made a choice not to deal with it NORMALLY…which would be to see it wasnt her fault and she didnt do anything wrong instead of offing herself ..

    Re: Pansy Hunter

Your lack of compassion for other human beings is appalling, everyone has problems in their lives and moments of weakness. The DJs didn't expect their actions to cause or contribute to someone taking their life but that doesn't mean Mrs Saldhana's death is not extremely tragic and regrettable. I hope you never know the crippling and soul destroying darkness that depression brings a person. This woman needed help and compassion, something we all need at some point in our lives regardless of how strong we are.

Not their Fault the Monarchy Had the poor woman Offed… and If they didn't.. then Not their fault she was SUICIDAL over a PRANK, radio stations make prank calls all the time. its what they do. They shouldn't have been fired.. Feel bad for the living Not the Dead.

Re: Pansy Hunter – Okay so we are liberals whining? Why? Because a woman died? Good Lord I hope so because death is final and should always warrant a reaction. It is called being human. These people have a history of pranks, the kind that harm innocent people. They forced a 12 yr girl to take lie detector in front of her mom and publicly about whether she was sexually active, well she wasn't sexually active but she had been raped. And now all of her friends and family and world knows it. The nurse was from India, she supported her family and in her culture giving out info about a royal was a serious mistake. Only she did not know she was doing that, she trusted two people to be who they claimed they were, they harassed her into giving the info knowing she comes from a culture of submissiveness. Pranks are fun and meant to be light-hearted, what they did was not a prank it was a cruel harmful life changing act. See what they did for what it is and stop defending people who think it is funny to laugh at other people's pain. Not to mention Kate deserves her privacy respected, they released personal and confident medical info that they had no right to in the first place when they not only pulled the prank but then broadcast-ed it. And I would rather be a touchy feely type than a cold-hearted, self-centered, myopic jerk who has no life and no friends and no one to love them because their are so hateful any day of the month.

Sheila - get ur facts right!!! That was not them, that was Kyle and Jackie O.

The nurse that tragically committed suicide was not even the one to give any info out (not that hearing that Kate was dehydrated and sleeping at the moment is ground breaking news) she just patched the call through, one sentence basically was said to her and that was it. For her death to be blamed on the DJ's is disgusting. She must have has other problems within herself to choose the tragic step of suicide and leaving her children behind.

Re: Sheila – I could not agree with you more.

  13. 13

What I think is interesting is that i was told that it wasn't even the nurse that was giving away the information but that it was the lady that transferred the call. I might be wrong, either way it was sad and I feel bad for the family for their loss. But I don't feel the DJs should be completely to blame. Yes, their actions played a part, but I don't believe that it was their fault and they shouldn't be to blame.

Re: Sheila – I take it from ur continued mistakes or just ur complete lack of knowledge that A) u have no effing idea what ur talking about and are just jumping on the "blame the DJ's bandwagon" B) ur just using the name Sheila to pass urself off as an Aussie and therefore appear to kno more than u do C) u have never heard of the Kyle and Jackie O show - coz lets face it it was them that did the 12yo lie detector test - which shows u r just picking up whatever info u can to twist it so that ur point of view is more favorable and D) You haven't listened to the prank because THE NURSE THAT COMMITTED SUICIDE GAVE NO INFO OUT!!! FFS she was on the switch board she simply transferred the call which is what her job was that night! So cut the damn they used her culture to trick her shit.
Get a clue! Get a life! Know the facts before u start running ur mouth!

Just wanted to point out they haven't confirmed suicide yet. The inquest isn't until Wednesday. Pranks have been performed on the radio for decades, but this was misguided. They phoned a nurse in an incredibly high stress job where confidentiality is key. Prank calling a random person for a joke is fine. Prank calling a nurse or a fireman or a police officer when they're on duty is not ok.

  17. frizz says – reply to this

    17

Re: BLAHS – she wasnt going to get fired. the hospital nor the royals were going to retaliate. all she did was transfer the call, she isnt even the nurse we all hear in the recordings giving away kate's medical condition. this is NOT the DJs fault at all.

  18. 18

BULLSHIT!!! It doesn't matter if she was off the edge. Or she was fired, embarrassed and bullied. They caused her death. If they did not do what they did, she would be alive today. I was hoping they would have said otherwise, but the haven't. William does not have a great relationship with the press. His mother, his wife's nude pics. He is royalty. Who knows what kind of punishment that woman got. These American radio prank shows are mostly fake. I know someone who puts on different voices to play the victim because it's actually AGAINST THE LAW to play pranks on people like this/record them without they kmowing.

  19. AussieBec says – reply to this

    19

Re: trinigirl123 – it's not their fault, and how u can state that she would be alive today is beyond me! As someone that has depression, sees a psychologist and has battled suicidal thoughts in the past I can say that a prank call that barely had me in it would not even make me contemplate leaving my precious child without me there watching her grow up.

PLUS the DJ's were Australian not American and prank calls are not illegal here

  20. 20

I honestly feel bad for the DJs. Not defending what they did, as it was a horrible prank…but they didn't deserve to lose their jobs for it. Maybe suspended without pay for a couple of weeks or something but to fire them? It was a prank call, radio stations do them all the time. If the prank had been personally aimed at her, had they harassed her repeatedly and bullied her, I would fully suggest taking them off the air…but it really was just an innocent prank, no one could have predicted it would lead to suicide. Clearly the nurse had previous mental issues to resort to something so drastic, and this just pushed her over the edge. I feel horrible for the family but saying the DJs were entirely at fault is a little too much.

At the end of the day, both parties are in the wrong. The nurse violated HIPPA, end of. Regardless if the people are royals on the other line, you are not aloud to disclose any information about a patient. The DJs are wrong for even pretending to be Princess Kate's family. It's a tragic situation and no matter what ends up happening to these DJs, it wont bring Jacintha Saldanha's life back.

  23. 23

I have to admit that I think this is all overblown. The woman who committed suicide was not the nurse who actually gave out the information. It was a nurse who was temporarily in a receptionist spot and passed the call on to the attending nurse, who gave out the information. It is sad that this woman committed suicide, but so far there is no real indication that this prank was the cause. While this station has had some pranks go bad — I think we should get all of the facts before they receive ANY blame.

    24

It really doesn't matter whether or not they knew that someone would end up dead as a result of their actions. They knew they were messing with someone else's livelihood and it didn't matter. What if she had been reprimanded (probably was) and then demoted? Would that been okay just because they had a few laughs? Their behavior was juvenile from start to finish. I don't think most bullies are aware of the full extent of the ramifications of their actions but they should still be held accountable.

So get your fucking facts right you dumb mole before commenting so incorrectly.

  26. 26

It's a modern day witch hunt! They didn't even release her name until after she died, so no one knew who she was besides the royal family and the hospital. This woman must have had mental problems if she killed herself over this. It hasn't even been determined if it was even a suicide. I have no sympathy for people who commit suicides, sorry. Suicides are natures why of getting rid of the weak!

Re: littleme87 – You make me sick. Suicide should be treated the same way as any other death by illness. It's not a choice. Those who commit suicide are ILL, and need help and support, just like those with cancer. Depression does not mean someone is weak, nor does cancer. It is simply an illness in their body that needs to be fought.

There is such a thing as professionalism. I think radio needs more of it, along with some maturity. It’s fucking disgusting actually, and I know this from personal experience. Very simple… play some tunes, play some GOOD tunes, hell if you want to do some damage, try your hand at shaping pop music into something good or better than what it is today, and keep, your cock suckers, shut.

People do not take their own lives due to a prank call. There was obviously something else at play. Also, is anyone thinking of how cruel people are being to the DJs? They did not intend for such a horrible outcome and now people are calling for their heads? What is being done to them is worse than a prank call (granted, the outcomes are significanlty different).

They made a foolish call yest, but really, we should be looking at the woman who took her own life? There must ahve been something else going on. No one leaves two children motherless because they answered a prank call. The world needs to stop judging these porr DJs

Everyone is talking about how irresponsible the DJs are and they have blood on their hands - what about this selfish mother who killed herself and left her children without their mum? And before anyone jumps in with "oh you don't get it blah blah blah", I do get it - depression and my sibling committed suicide. At the end of the day, yes you can drive a person to want to kill themselves but you can't MAKE them do it - it is always a CHOICE. And the nurse's choice to leave her children was selfish and irresponsible.

It's a shame that it has come to this. The nurse committing suicide and then them losing their jobs. I think that they have taken it too far. It was a joke for goodness sake. They don't deserve all of this backlash.

  35. Aussie says – reply to this

    35

if you would expect anyone to commit suicide over this, it would be the nurse who gave out the information and listened to and believed the whole prank, not the nurse who put them through! i agree, she must have had other things going on in her life/mind as the prank didn't affect her at all and who would kill themselves over something as innocent like that? its a prank call for god sakes. she had children, as well. who would leave their children over patching a call through. she most definitely must have had other things going on in her life. the djs are not too blame at all. who would ever think this would happen. it is not their fault that someone is so mentally unstable as to commit suicide after PATCHING A CALL THROUGH and nothing else! for god sakes. the british media have turned this into such a fucking big deal. and honestly, who in rights mind would believe the QUEEN HERSELF would call the hospital, be chatting away to charles and have fucking corgis barking in the background! Who is so foolish to believe that! should they not have had protocol in place for not speaking to anyone about kate's condition seeing as she is royalty?! fucking hell. the djs are not to blame at all here, its the fucking looneys who believed the prank and didn't question it.

She was the one who was wrong. She should of never talked to strangers on the phone. No body told her to kill herself. There's no one to blame , but her.

  38. 38

They should receive consequences regardless of the suicide or not because it is just plain stupid and wrong to prank call hospital staff that are caring for sick and dying people and sick patients. You NEVER prank 911, police, fire depts, hospitals etc.You also don't prank people you know nothing about. They clearly lack a sende of what is and isn't appropriate and where boundaries lie. If they are so hard up for material that all they can think of is pranking hospitals and harassing patients then they need to find another line of work. Most pranks include an inside person who person who knows the victim and how they are likely to respond. Something bad was bound to happen sooner or later since they lack common sense on how to carry out pranks which are frequent with their line of work.

  42. 42

The hospital clearly fucked up by not preparing the staff for any fallout with a high profile patient. Cell phones people!! There would be no reason for any member of the royal family to be calling the main switchboard. They would be kept up to date other ways. The hospital was under prepared. To blame the DJ's is to deny the hospital's part in all of this. Too bad really, sad all around.

Re: AussieBec – I agree, there is more to the story…I would like to know if the people that approved the airing of this prank were fired as well. The 2 hosts definitely look devastated. I feel horrible for her family but there is definitely more to this tragic story.

  44. 44

Re: FrankieLA – it doesnt matter that she didnt give out the info. By putting the call through she legitamised the call and failed to follow procedure. So she did make a mistake and probably felt guilty about it all. To some people from some cultures this kind of thing can be very shaming. She maybe felt like she let Kate down or something big like that.

  45. girlwoman says – reply to this

    45

I highly doubt these two twats or any form of media backlash is what sent this nurse over the edge. Something not often discussed is how the hospital might have reacted to her mistake of forwarding the call. Yeah, they now say they were "supportive of her and she was a valuable colleague" but I'm 99.9% sure they weren't supportive. I work in a non-royal hospital and you would be in deep shit if you forgot to give someone a baby aspirin. It would result in getting written up, a strike against your record, and being reprimanded by your nursing supervisor. I cannot even IMAGINE what a hospital would do for a "royal mistake. Let's just say it would be anything but being supportive.

This particular radio station is always coming under fire for their "pranks" going wrong. Next minute advertising is suspended and a teary dj is apologizing saying it was a joke and the did not know. I like a joke as much as the next person, however these "shock jocks" are just that. 2 day Fm should be fined every time one of their DJs pull crap like this. Last time was Kyle Sandilands and an underage teen and rape allegations on live radio. Not on.
