20 Children Confirmed Dead From Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting

This is the work of a monster. A real life monster.

The gunman is believed to be 20-year-old Adam Lanza. Authorities previously reported the shooter was Ryan Lanza, Adam's 24-year-old brother.

New reports suggest Ryan is currently being questioned by police in New Jersey.

Connecticut State Police Lt. Paul Vance has confirmed that 20 of the 26 victims of Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting were children between the ages of 5 and 6-years-old.

The shooting took place in one section of the school and in 2 classrooms in the school — one of which was classroom where the suspected gunman's mother, Nancy Lanza, taught kindergarden.

Lt. Vance told reporters that 18 children died at school and 2 in transit to hospital.

6 adults, and the gunman himself, have been confirmed dead.

We're all trying wrap our minds around how someone could be so incredibly sinister. This is truly, truly horrific.

Again, our hearts and thoughts go out to the family's of those young victims.

Inside job from the Congress. They are 1) either about to pass something that will even further limit the American freedom or 2) people are realize their education system is stupid, so they needed the media to distract citizens from this. And yes, they'll go that far to kill children. They got the American citizens PERFECTLY, especially by getting a 20 year old to kill them - that way older citizens will place the blame on the youth, and not the older generation.

Enough with blaming republicans or democrats for everything. With everything that has been happening congress wouldn't need to kill children for gun control considering there has been shootings almost every week. Enough with hate people.

Please don't post the suspect's name. Let him die in anonymity.

Don't let actions of 1% of people with guns determine the fate of everyone else in this country. Guns help me provide for my family just like money does for most of you. This is no different than the LBGT community thinking they have the right to marry nationwide. Us gun supporters deserve to have the opportunities that guns provide us.

I am a teacher in CT not far from where this senseless tragedy took place. It is beyond human words to describe the monstrosity of the individual who carried out this unimaginable evil act. My heart goes out to all families involved and I know that I, personally, hugged my children harder this afternoon than I ever have before. God bless.

Re: Gunsprovide – Hahaha! That sounds like a radio talk show caller, in a Grand Theft Auto game.

Only in America, people… Only in a America. Or mostly anyway.

It'll happen again, and again, and again. Schools, churches, movie theaters… what else… and I leaving anything out? Because it will happen again within the next 6 months. No doubt. You can count on it.

I'm not surpsised shocked, and no, I don't really care either, tbh….

Re: Gunsprovide – Dont worry, you will keep having your precious gun to protect nobody at all. Because its one of the biggest bussiness in America, people need to kill each other in order to keep that money flowing for the big ones up there.

  9. 9

I live in Canada, where we have stricter gun laws, but we also have less shootings. There may be a correlation between the two… RIP

I think its interesting how many threads perez has going on this, but the incident in china where a man slashed 22 children in school with a knife he has comments off. hmmmmm

Re: Leticia – there saying it all over the news. so it wouldn't matter if perez did?

This will keep happening because of the copycat mentality. This is a way to flip out big time and make a HUGE statement. And shooting lots of people with a gun is far far easier than stabbing lots of people..with takes great physical effort.

    Re: Gunsprovide
To assosciate the right to have a gun with the right for people from the LGBT to marry is absolutely appaling and ridiculous. There is no similarity what so ever and I find your comment ignorant and extremely offensive. But you've backed up my belief that that narrow minded Americans should not have guns. You have the right to bear arms, please thats BS, you have the right to not get shot by some psycho! How many innocent people have to die before your country will learn, it's sickening and barbaric! How can something so tragic like this happen, and you still rant about your bloody right to bear arms!! Burn your f*cking constitution it's clearly a load of BS!

    Re: shaygirl1309
I agree, unfortunately it's the same with all the news sites I've seen, even on the BBC website the story in China is just a small bi-line. Fortunatey I don't think there were any fatalities there. Its a very tragic day.

If you vote Republican YOU have BLOOD on your hands. YOU!!! You are also responsible for the economic collapse we have just endured. Republicans are SICK!!!!!

  16. 16

So sad yet given America's obsession with the "right" to bear arms, this type of horrific tragedy will continue to happen. Nowhere else in the world has the volume of mass shooting that the U.S does and allowing your citizen's to continue to legally own guns will continue to see this type of thing happen. Sad but true!

Re: Gunsprovide – What? The opportunity to murder innocent children? Moron!

Re: Bondisteve – you plan on doing away with the Constitution and the Bill of Rights? we are Americans we have the right to protect ourselves. its to bad one of those teachers wasn't carrying a weapon.

Re: Bondisteve – don't insult people because you don't understand their lifestyle, he may hunt and feed his family with the closest thing to fully organic/free range healthy meat there is. Anyway just because you get rid of LEGAL guns doesn't mean people won't get ILLEGAL guns. That's the thing about people that commit crimes, they do things illegally.

HOW CONVENIENT… that this shooting happens before Obama was going to launch his supposed removal of all weapons in the United States? You know it's funny how they go after conservatives, republicans, NRA, etc,.. as the scapegoat works perfectly. TOO perfectly. The reason Americans bear arms goes back to 1775, when King George tried to take Americans right to bear arms and defend themselves, in an attempt to take over the Colonies and the United States. It happening again, and the European Royals are behind all of it, which includes Obama. The banks in the United States (New York) are all owned and controlled privately by European Banking Families and Royal houses of Europe, with the exception of Citibank owned by the Rockefeller family. Destroying our currency through derivatives trading going back to the late 1990s which still continues to this day, and then endless money printing destined to kill off the dollar and remove our wealth and savings. You people are FOOLS if you think there is a way out of $1.5 quadrillion in derivatives debt. Readying my AR-15's for the revolution in this country. The British are coming (monetarily)… and no one is paying attention.

  22. 22

American's really need to get on that gun control.. in Canada this sort of thing hardly ever happens.. and that is partly because you can't buy guns at Walmart..

  23. MalPal says – reply to this

What the fuck America? Canada has a monkey in a mall and that makes international news. Then you have fucking USA that has a mass shooting in a elementary school. You ruined a good week of news on a horrible note.

Re: shaygirl1309 – What about the rights of your citizens to live a full life free from the risk of murder at the hands of someone carrying a gun? It's no co-incidence that the U.S has the highest rate of gun ownership in the world, the highest rate of homicide by gun of any westernised nation and one of the weakest gun laws of any nation of the planet. I am just thankful that I live in a country where gun ownership is NOT a right for all and I where myself and my fellow citizens can go to school, a restaurant or a cinema and not fear getting gunned down! How many more innocent lives need to be lost before you all wake up???

  25. Bondisteve says – reply to this

Re: CaritaDeCleopatra – Ridiculous argument. Let's just put a gun in everyone's hands LEGALLY and just hope that they don't use it to kill innocent people! You may never be able to prevent someone from obtaining a gun illegally but that's a hell of a lot easier to police and manage than just allowing anyone access to a weapon of that nature and then scratching your heads in wonder when one of them uses it to kill innocent people.

This is just one of the saddest stories I have read in a long time. I guess we will never know why the shooter did this (men who kill themselves tend to not leave suicide notes as opposed to women, based on my anecdotal research).
I cried when I first read this story, peace to the families and friends.

  28. Jack says – reply to this

All you dumb jackasses that still believe you have a "right to bear arms" need to go say that to the parents that sent their kindergartner to school and picked them up in a body bag. Enough with the senseless violence. Our society is too ignorant to bear arms. Just for the fact that you NRA supporters don't recognize the correlation between counties with strict gun control=less shootings speaks volumes! Our kids can't play outside, go to a movie and are not safe at school. Think about that when u go clean your guns.

Re: shaygirl1309 – the comments are probably turned off because Chinese people don't think of that as a tragic act against children. They are a nation that kill girls, sell them into slavery, watch them get hit by cars and all around have zero respect or feelings for human beings. But here in America, we are sickened and appalled by this tragedy. And if any of us were there and could have stopped it, we would gladly give up our own lives for that of a child.

Want to throw this thought into the mix:

Lunatics who want to kill a large amount of people - for whatever reason - will always find ways to do so WITH or WITHOUT guns.
    - How to build bombs exists on the internet. (And is illustrated on cop/ncis shows, etc.)
    - How to set fires is something we all learned as we grow up. (Arson is becoming more sophisticated by the day.)
    - Poison is relatively easy to make, if you have all of the ingredients, and
    - Brainwashing using pills, sleep and food deprivation, is rampant in cults that exist all over the U.S. (Scientoloquacks, I'm looking in YOUR direction.)

    The problem is NOT guns.
The problem is the psychology of a nation that houses millions of extra-ordinarily UNHAPPY citizens.
Citizens who aren't being heard, who aren't being respected by their leaders.
Citizens who are tired of being told what to do, who to marry, what god to believe in, and what foreigners to hate.
Citizens who desperately need proper medication and treatment for mental and physical illness, and cannot afford it.
Citizens who are watching the ever-controlling and manipulating 1% drain their hopes, their visions and goals for the future down the toilet, while belittling their votes, their opinions, their needs, and their belief systems.
To say it's all about GUNS - yae or nay - is shortsighted and rather uninformed.

Hearing the news of this tragic story today broke my heart. People are blaming everything from gun control to the government to even republicans. This is an imperfect world and regardless of whatever laws we put into place, people will always find a way to get a gun. However, the real issue here is lack of empathy. So many technological methods that many rely on for communication has resulted in the degradation of understanding and/or relating to others, which results in our apathetic society. Perfect example - my jaw actually dropped when I read a previous post where someone said they didn't really care about what happened today. Seriously? You are so far removed from feeling anything that doesn't directly relate to yourself that you cannot find it in your heart for an ounce of compassion for anyone involved in that tragedy? Wow . . .

    (It's *tragedy* Einstein)
No, that's not nice but damn it, there's too much arguing everywhere today. And EVERYONE thinks they're the only one that's right!!
Gun trafficing has been going on for YEARS AND YEARS. And it will only get worse if gun ownership becomes illegal. Those gangbangers down the street? Pfftt! They don't give a flying fluck (yes, spelled wrong intentionally) about the law! They break the law every day! And sickos like today? Well, where there's a will there's a way.

  34. 34

Theres 305 million Americans. 250+ MILLION guns. Over 90 MILLION gun owners. In 25 years we have had 7 mass public shootings involving 10 men. 10 people out of 90+ million in 25 years went on a shooting spree. A psycho will be a psycho. Making the majority suffer because of .000001% of them did something horrible isn't the way.
