Father Of Sandy Hook Shooting Victim Gives Heartwrenching Speech Remembering Daughter And Offering Condolences To Shooter's Family

The names of all 26 victims lost in the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, have now been officially released, and last night, Robbie Parker, whose six-year-old daughter, Emilie, was one of the young souls lost in the tragedy, bravely released a powerful, truly heart-crushing statement to the press paying tribute to his child.

However, what truly speaks to this man's humanity - in the purest sense of the word - here is that despite the real-life nightmare that he is currently enduring, he still manages to fight back the tears and reach out to all of the other suffering families attempting to pick up the pieces of their own shattered lives and offer them his support and condolences…including those related to suspected shooter Adam Lanza.

Please watch this incredible testament to true compassion and empathy (above).

We sincerely hope that everyone out there struggling to make sense of this all while fighting outrage, despair, and looking to point the finger of blame can manage to dig past all of these justifiable emotions and learn from his example.

There is no argument from us that there are policies and laws in this country that simply MUST change to prevent these kinds of tragedies in the future, but we think that if we TRULY want to create a world where our children won't have to grow up fearing for their lives even in places that SHOULD be safe, like the classroom, we must look inside of ourselves and seriously reflect on what's REALLY important in life, and how we can put aside our differences with one another and work together to help everyone do the same.

As Robbie says, that's what his child would have wanted, and we owe it to her - and all of the other young souls taken from their loved ones Friday - to do just that.

May they R.I.P.

I find it terrible that there is still an advertisement before the video.

Good God Peraz. It's already been all over the news for 24 hours and we've all seen it. What, does it take 24 hours or more for you to post it? Go away. You could not miss it on TV unless you never turned on your TV. Get a clue.

I agree it is very poor there is an advertisement before this video. Can't you remove the advertisement and for once seriously give this experience the honor it deserves. Prayers and God's love and healing to all the victims and their families. God Bless.

Please stop mentioning the name of the shooter, he doesn't need any more fame than he already has.

Have the decency and respect to remove the advertisement before the video, Perez.

That said, Robbie Parker is such a strong and loving man, the video definitely made me tear up.

You allued to gun control.. the father made NO mention of that. Are you telling me if the teacher was armed or there was an armed guard at the school this wouldn't have happened? I can guarentee you if the teacher was armed or an armed guard there wouldnt be as many deaths. Look at Israel.. the teachers have guns.. whens the last time you heard of a school massacure? Almost 20 kids were stabbed to death in China the SAME DAY this happened. If there was an armed guard or teacher at that school.. there wouldn't have been as many deaths.

No parent should have to go through this kind of tragedy.. no words can console these families :( It is completely unfathomable. I can only wish somehow their pain lessens with time but even while writing I know its likely not possible. Heartfelt hugs and deepest condolences to these shattered families..

And to this website; please take out advertisements at least for such heartbreaking videos

I still have tears streaming down my face after watching this heartwrenching video five minutes ago. You can tell the father is on the verge of tears but bravely holding them back and his daughter sounds like a truly lovely person. It is a shame any parent should have to go through this in their life. RIP to all of the children and teachers, principal, etc.

And I agree with removing the ad, I know you have to make money and this is one way and I normally have no problem with that. But in this instance a little sensitivity would go a long way. Thanks for your consideration.

Re: Lindsey – when was the last time you heard a armed guard shot down a spree killer?
On Israel: Israel is at war with all his neighbours , so far i know America is not at war with his neighbours and there is also not civil war although the NRA and other satan worshipping lobby groups disagree on that topic.
On China: get your facts straight.

This video is terribly heartbreaking. I find it hard to believe in lieu of such a devastating tragedy, a father who lost his daughter, has to come out and speak on behalf of everyone affected. I cannot begin to imagine what he and everyone is going through; though I do have to say he is a brave man and I hope his daughter, and all lost rest in peace ♥

I'm sorry but I find him to be a media whore. After merely hours of his daughter's death, he created a fan page for his daughter and has been posting a lot since. And this speech tho genuine sometimes is superficial. He is disgusting. I am not doing this to put down the awful tragedy that has happened because I cried after finding out what happened. But this guy is a disgrace. Instead of mourning, he is trying to make a name for himself. Absolutely disgusting.

NO MORE GUNS!! The constitution although admirable was made for a different time - no one has the right to bear arms to kill innocent children.

  21. Kiaya says – reply to this

    21

Re: JackD – You make me sick. To think he is a media whore, wow! He is just expressing himself and sharing with the world who is daughter is. You have no idea what he is going through. Loosing such a young life and being called a media whore you'd have to be heartless and I am sure he is not and you just might be.

  22. 22

That is just so sad. this man has to go without his daughter.

  23. 23

I know you Americans are obsessed with guns and won't accept to have then banned.
Okay, fine. I believe it's not a gun problem but more of a mentality problem. There are just as many guns in Canada and these things don't happen there and people don't shoot each other.
But please, can someone explain why war weapons are available in your shops? Like, mass murder weapons? Surely you can't say this particular type is for defence.

My hearts aches I can't describe to you the pain I feel for these families that lost a love in such a senseless act of violence. I can understand how you hurt anyone much less a child. My prayer is that god give these families peace and some sort of understanding in knowing that those precious children are with him his beautiful angels.

Re: JackD – I can not believe you could say such a thing about a man who lost his child in a horrible way he just want the world to know what type of angel god allow him to have for 6 years.I am woman unfortunately can not bear children I wish I had six days with a chid of mine .

I feel a need to comment as someone from Canada gave misleading information. People do get shot in Canada, it happens all the time. Just because in America it is easier to get guns doesn't mean anything. The shootings in Canada are probably from guns all brought in from an Illegal trade making it possibly even more dangerous. What a sad tragedy this is and this guys words are heart warming. Maybe banning guns isnt the answer but maybe a focus on bullying/helping people with special needs should be more of a focus. It always seems to be someone who is mentioned as troubled… where is the help? Why is the focus on guns… guns dont kill people.. PEOPLE kill people.

  31. 31

God bless those children and their teachers soul. This is too much!

  32. Feeda Weed says – reply to this

    32

Re: Tracey – Agreed. Also..I think there would be more murders and crimes,if they tried to outlaw guns.Criminals will always find a way to get an untracable gun and if law abiding citizans have no way to defend their homes or themselves, they will become targets of crime. In fact, the cities that have the most carry permits, there are less crimes commited in those places.People think twice before commiting a crime on someone that has a gun and can defend themselves. Most of these people that are doing these killing sprees are mentally ill and are drugged by doctors and big pharma beyond belief. People need to get to the root of these situations..better mental health care, stop bullying, more studies on the side effects of pharma drugs..the problem is not the guns, its the mental health of the people that are doing this and what is causing them to snap?If you want to outlaw guns, why not outlaw cars to people that drink alcohol? drinking and driving kill waaaay more people EVERYDAY than guns do..where is the rage aginst companies that make and sell alcohol and car dealers that sell cars to alcoholics?
