Clay Aiken Throws Nasty Shade At American Idol! Calls Judges Selfish?!

| Filed under: TV NewsMusic MinuteClay AikenMariah CareyAmerican IdolNicki Minaj

Ten years after becoming famous on American Idol, season two runner up Clay Aiken is throwing dirty word bombs towards the show that created his career!

During a recent interview, the singer/almost celebrity apprentice was asked whether or not he'd return to the American Idol stage to celebrate his 10 year milestone.

Clay expressed:

"I don't know that I would commemorate it on the show. I don't know that they did it with Justin Guarini and all those folks. But Idol back in those days was about the contestants. Kelly [Clarkson] and Justin and Tamyra [Gray] and Nikki McKibbin, they were all the stars of the show. And when I was on, Ruben [Studdard] and myself and Kimberley Locke were the stars of the show. Now Idol is about the judges. I don't even know if they remember there are contestants anymore."

Ooohhhh sh*t! So he's not exactly insulting the actual show, he's just calling the new judges SELFISH!

LOLz!!

But it does seem like the show has gone from something that nurtures and inspires fresh talent to something that serves as a platform where the judges simply promote themselves, or where they garner more publicity through scandalous actions…

The Nicki Minaj feud with Mariah Carey being a perfect example.

Ah well, that's just what you get when you employ judges who are world renowned DIVAS!

Well in spite of Perez's salacious title to this piece, what is it that Clay Aiken said that is wrong? And I would hardly call it "nasty shade" and he didn't say the judges are selfish. I hate this kind of crappy misleading crap. Perez wouldn't know journalism if it bit him in the butt. I stopped watching Idol when they started playing revolving doors with celebrity judges to increase viewers. This show is so over….the fat lady is singing!

Is that chick his beard? God she is BUTT-UGLY and looks desperate….

Most people would agree with Clay. He was asked a question and gave an honest opinion. He was hardly throwing "dirty word bombs". Clay has always acknowledged that it was AI that put him where he is today.
What the heck is with such a misleading headline? You should be ashamed.

Re: Pray the Gay Away… – hahaha isn't that Donald trump daughter. If it is I think she's married with a kid. Not dating him.

  7. 7

Clay is right though. can anyone really remember anyone who won AI recently?

lol its true! I used to hear about the contestants and now all I see in articles is how the judges ACTED towards the contestant. As if there reaction is more important.

Like you said Perez its about the judges promoting themselves..who's calling who SELFISH. I don't hunk he threw any more nasty shade than you did.

  14. 14

Clay tells the truth, as always.

  15. 15

    Quite accurate.

  16. 16

I applaud Clay for being honest about where the show has gone. People are not tuning in to see who the next American Idol star is going to be but rather what drama the judges are going to bring. The spotlight is no longer on the contestant but the judges who are overdramatic nowadays.

John Paulus said Clay Picked him up, had BAREBACK SEX with him all night long in a NC Ramada Inn and then Clay denied the entire thing happened. John kept the cum rags Clay used to wipe himself and saved them for DNA evidence….

    CLAY IS NASTY!

  18. 18

Bravo Clay, I SO agree with you. Like so many I stopped watching Idol along time ago!!

IDIOT Perez strikes again. He didn't say the judges were "SELFISH" - he said the show sucks because the focus is on the judges not the singers. And he's right. X Factor and Idol are jokes completely fucked up by idiot producers like Lythgoe and company who don't trust the original format and try to manufacture drama and rig the results. And America hates it! Ratings for the judge+horrible choreography shows like Idol & X Factor are plummeting while shows that focus on the singers (The Voice) are kicking ass. Duh.

He is soooo right. It is ALL about the judges now….except for The Voice, where all the judges encourage ALL the contestants, not only the ones on their own team.

He is so right. Last year, I couldn't stomach watching crusty old Stephen Tyler hitting on all the girls. Now we have Mariah and Freak show going at it. NO THANK YOU. Skipping Idol this season for sure.

AI 2008 was the last AI I watch. I only watched the final on AI 2009. After that, I didn't watch AI at all. Clay was right, the show is not focussing on the contestants anymore. The show is forgetable after 2008. Clay should win, he was better than Ruben. He was robbed. and so David Archuleta and Adam Lambert. The show is cut and dried. Who wants to watch a scripted real show like that? It's not fun and interesting anymore.
