Gossip Girl: Identity REVEALED In Series Finale! Find Out Who She Is & How It All Ended HERE!

MORNING, UPPER EAST SIDERS…

Sigh. To think… we'll never hear those words freshly said again! The sorrow! The horror! The devastation!

Unless of course this movie thing actually happens! And from the looks of last night's hints, a big-screen Gossip Girl moment could turn out to be a dream come true!

Last night, we fell deeply in love with the best fifteen minutes of television history.*

As the show that New York Magazine once called the "BEST. SHOW. EVER." came to a close, the identity of the mistress behind the New York elite's biggest secrets was finally revealed.

And oooo was it satisfying!!

Hoping for something with less plot holes, we shed our light away from the thoughts swirling around on who the REAL mystery writer turned out to be.

But alas… a main character it turned out to be indeed!

Are you ready to find out/relive the big reveal? PresSsSs PLAY (above)!

Once you're done with that glorious moment, read the rest of our commentary and flash forward five years to experience the fates of our favorite Upper East Siders (you know you want to) …AFTER THE JUMP!

Isn't it all just so beautiful!?!

We admit we've already begun our re-watching of the series to spot plot holes with *SPOILER* Dan being Gossip Girl, but this finish was too flawless for us not to fill insanely satisfied.

And we have to admit we like the theory behind the reveal. A man earning his public persona through writing about the elite?? We can totally relate. ;)

Now… we know some of you insisted it had to be Kristen Bell, but we think her cameo with Rachel Bilson was perfectly classic!

AND STFU… MAYOR BLOOMBERG MADE A CAMEO TOO! AHH!

As for the final couplings, *SPOILER* Derena's wedding had our eyes wetter than the Kate Winslet on the Titanic!

BUT COULDN'T YA HAVE GIVEN US ONE MORE KISS, GUYS? C'MON!!

Moving along! Little baby Henry Bass was just perezcious! Such a dashing young image of father Chuck! We do wish Blair could have popped out a mini-B too, but hey gurl… you know your body better than we do!

Speaking of bodies, did anyone else wonder WTF was going on when Lisa Loeb's lovely little self wound up with Rufus? LOL!!

(Lily wound up with William… boring.)

And of course Georgina ended up with Jack Bass (not Bart… eww). A match made in criminal heaven. We bet their sex life is intense!!

Surely just as wild as Ivy turning into a best-selling author! Her film turned into a movie starring Hilary Duff and Lola Rhodes too! Did ya catch that!?!

But that wasn't the only surprising pairing… Little J's shopping bag revealed that she and Blair shook hands in business with J and Waldorf designs. Love it!!

And last but not least… Nate totally has our vote for NYC mayor.

SIGH… WHAT A SHOW, LOVAHS! WHAT A SHOW!

If President Obama name-checks you, you know you're really something special. And you are, Gossip Girl… you are. XOXO…

*on The CW ;)

Well..i have to tell you, that they should have done 2 hours of the last episode and finish all the loose ends..firstable..If lily would have known what william did, shell never end w/ him…Ivy stood so still and did nothing about it..?…come on!!!..and what about the son lily and rufus had..that they never come w/ some closure..serena never find out lola was her sister..come on…pretty lame ending…it seems they didnt want to keep on doing it..they were tired and want it to end it fast.. i feel i waste 5 years of my life w/ only good sense of fashion and stupid screenplay. SO So lame.

Gossip Girl Sucked it only ended that way to please Chair Fans and Derena fans and I hate when shows books and movies do that because there afaird they will lose fans news flash you already lost them when you choose to focus on shipping wars. i was a fan of gossip girl from season one but after season three it didn't make since but i stayed loyal after season five I quit.

That was a weak series finale!!!

  9. 9

    It was so rushed too.

  10. 10

Agreed that it was rushed, but I loved it. That's life. you don't get all the answers you need and you move on anyway! The only criticism I have is Serena's wedding dress (yuck) and her hair. She's soo more beautiful than that.

  11. 11

Not to worry, GG fans … someone will come out with some equally vapid series for you to wrap your tiny minds around.

I wanted to see a big wedding with Chuck and Blair. I know she got her dream wedding with that prince, but it wasn't with Chuck. Also, everyone is right that there are still loose ends.

    1. Dumb blonde Serena marries her reputation's rapist Dan — bad.
    2. Dufus, one-hit-wonder, holier-than-thou freeloader gets kicked out of the UES — great.
    3. Jenny working for/with the Waldorfs? Though she had more balls — bad
    4. Blair and Chuck married — great.
    5. Dan is Gossip Girl. Surprisingly makes a lot of sense — great.
    6. The Schwartz/Savage version of Gossip Girl got so bad in the last four years the EPA was ready to shut it down.

As I'm sure everybody will know this summer when the Baz Luhrman/Leo DiCaprio movie The Great Gatsby comes out, Dan's description of NYC's privileged youth culture as Fitzgerald like is spot on. I haven't read the book yet, only seen the Redford and Sorvino movie versions but, even I could see that Dan Humphries spiritual ancestor is Nick Carroway, the outsider wanna be writer who is invited into the world of the rich and irresponsible by another outsider buying his way in and hiding behind a false Id: Gatsby.

OK, so there were enough hints in the final season to conclude that Dan was Gossip Girl, so this wasn't a huge surprise. So no, I didn't really tune in for the suspense, but more just because of how much time i've invested in the show over the years, and I had to watch the end. The series highlights montage was nice, and covered all the bases well enough without being too drawn out.

Oh and since this series has always had really strong music, I thought it was fitting that they had two great standout uses of music in this episode…first, I loved the hilarious 1960's Batman-esque campy music that played during Bart's death scene. I literally couldn't stop laughing at it. Then, I also thought it was great that they had a cover of Serge Gainsbourg's classic "Bonnie & Clyde" sung in English by Great Northern. I've always loved that song and it's many various covers, but this is the first English one I've heard and I love it.
