Piers Morgan Flips Shiz At Gun Lobbyist Insisting Sandy Hook Teachers Needed Guns

| Filed under: TV NewsPolitikSad SadPiers Morgan

Piers Morgan truly is the voice of reason!

You know, if that voice came with an adorbzies British accent!

But, in the wake of the horrendously unthinkable tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School, even the world's most reasonable men are prone to outrage!

Ch-ch-check out the CNN talk show host absolutely flipping his shiz at gun lobbyist Larry Pratt on his show last night!

Larry has the audacity to claim, with a straight face, this catastrophe would've been averted had the teachers, administrators, and, presumably, the school lunch ladies been outfitted with firearms of their own.

Yikes. That's a tough argument to sell.

In Larry's defense, now isn't an easy time for gun lobbyists — mostly because the products they're paid to endorse are being used to kill completely innocent children.

It's not an easy time to be a parent of a young child, we imagine, either and they will not sit idly by while their children are murdered.

We applaud Piers for doing his part to try and make a difference.

Piers Morgan needs to go back to Great Britain. I've never seen anyone get so upset calling other people stupid when he doesn't even belong here. Go back to Britain, Piers, you love it so much, if you can't handle the American Constitution by all means pack up and LEAVE!

One of the biggest issues with America is the fact that lobbyists interests outweigh those of the people. How can your politics be anything but corrupt if special interest groups (with money) can sway your politicians stances of legislation and policy?

  3. 3

The shooters mom was a skilled shooter, with a large arsenal of guns. And I bet an NRA member, but it didn't save her, now did it Mr Lobbyist?

uh, teachers do need guns. sorry but they do. too many out of control kids, add a gun in their possession, teachers need guns.

Re: MrsLambert – So true. And what happens if one of these armed teachers becomes unstable? Wow. Unbelievable that this guy and people like him think that the average person needs an assault weapon.

Piers Morgan is an idiot and he was completely owned by this guy and looked like an idiot. What the guy said was true. One of those administrators had a gun, boom, he's dead and those kids are still alive. This liberal crap about more gun control is bullcrap.

While I agree with him re: the gun issue, I really wonder what the flying fuck piers fucking morgan is doing passing as a legitimate journalist. He is a shitty phone hacking tabloid thug and he has no credibility in the UK. He's a freaking joke. Embarrassing viewing all round…

  10. 10

Re: Marlon Meadows – It is about guns. Of course it is a multi-faceted problem, but guns are a huge part of the problem.

  11. 11

If you're going to conduct an interview, let Larry Pratt finish his sentences without constant interruption and name calling. What an arrogant ASS Piers is! And although I have never touched a gun, I am now of the belief that schools need either a Marshall or trained members of the staff, to be able to kill a shooter immediately, instead of calling 911, and having the victims mount while the school waits for the police. Then, and only then will these massacres cease!

  12. MrsB414 says – reply to this

If you do not walk into this with an open mind to really hear both sides of the story before you make your choice on sides, you would understand what Larry Pratt was saying. Out in the country (NO WHERE NEAR BIG CITIES WHERE GUNS ARE BANNED), everyday people carry a gun with them everywhere they go and there is NO CRIME! Yes, I get what Piers Morgan is saying that he wasn't saying all guns but the auto/semi-auto to be banned. To me, that doesn't sound all that bad since the guns us normal folk own, we never need multiple magazines unless we're going on a weekend hunting trip. You need to STOP and LISTEN before you judge. Ya'll clearly just DONT GET IT!!!!

911- Box cutters were the weapon of choice because they knew the passengers were unarmed and box cutters would be easy to get on board. If 1 person on each plane had been armed 911 would have never happened. Oklahoma bombing- Last I heard Making/possessing a bomb was illegal. You see they will always find a way.

So we ban guns. I bet all the criminals/would be criminals all run right down and turn theirs all in. Just something else that will be smuggled into the country. And do you really think the crooks won't start/continue manufacturing their own or breaking into armories.

The main reason legal gun owners fight gun control is they know the opposition will never be happy until the get their way 100% with no compromise. So every law they pass is just a small not so noticed step closer to getting what they want.

That's my opinion and it was fire arms that gave me the right to express it.
You all know Mario has carried a gun every since the BEP beat down. A reliable sourse told me this

Re: boston61 – Really, if the teacher had a gun then it would have been "and boom he's dead".? What if the teacher didn't aim properly and killed a child or someone else not intended for a bullet. This is not the OK Coral. No one needs this type of auto weapon, no one.

LARRY PRATT IS AN IDIOT! how could one possible know that a 20 year old would do such a thing? Piers Morgan point and attitude its valid. Its not about he being from another country its about real facts.
the moms shooter was a skilled shooter , with guns… DEAD
guns at schools? REALLY???? and what? send the teachers to shooting classes?? I want to slap this man! 20 kids are dead. 6 Adults Its a tragedy.

  27. 27

Re: eicarr – I agree. He is not helping his cause at all. The thought of having to train school teachers in use of fire arms is absurd.

  28. 28

    Re: d

WTF are you talking about? What "tiny victories" do gun control folks have to be happy about? The claim that box cutters are just as deadly are about as dumb as you can get. Can other things be used as weapons: yes. Does that mean that sensible laws regarding firearms should not be put into place: no. If it came down to resisting a man with a box cutter and one with an assault rifle with 30+ rounds in his clip, who do you think would be disarmed easier? Who would you rather be facing? And giving arms to everyone to "even the playing field" is equally retarded. Any law enforcement agent will agree that more guns never stabilizes any situation.

  29. 29

Re: My so called poop – You are stupid beyond imagination.

  30. 30

Re: msrb414 – Ok genius who's going to pay for that? Schools can't even afford supplies for their students. Teachers are being laid off. who you callin dumbass?

  31. 31

Dumbass>>> Re: msrb414 – clearly didn't watch the video. The greedy lobbyist who cares about lining his pockets over the lives of children clearly took the position of arming kindergarten and elementary school teachers.

  32. 32

In my personal opinion the minute that someone starts suggesting all teachers be armed as a solution they have officially lost any credibility. I know that Piers Morgan comes off as extreme to people, but to me he just seems legitimately outrages… as we all should be. It doesn't matter what country he is from he has a right to be outraged about this just like I have a right to be outraged about starving children in third world countries. EVERYONE should care when 20 six year olds are shot and killed. My kids are 5 and 7, so this hits home with me. Are Guns the only issue? No of course not! I do believe that Mental illness, and even other things play into this but gun control IS a part of this and SHOULD be talked about.

  33. 33

No one said teachers should be armed. But a member of the faculty, the Principal or a member of the administration, should have training and a HANDGUN. Then these cowards will stop picking schools.

pierce morgan is one of the most unprofessional and incompetent journalist i have ever seen.this awful tragedy will definitely bring up debate about gun control, and the only way to fix this problem is to listen to both sides of the argument and find a solutions to the problem; and that was what CNN was clearly trying to do,bring someone for and someone against THE ARGUMENT and as a journalist on national television you should be able to keep your composure despite if you don't agree with the persons viewpoint, what this degenerate British journalist did was totally out of-line,he got emotionally involved in a simple debate of should people carry arms or not, calling the man on national TV,a stupid man and all other kinds of stuff,it was totally unprofessional of him.if he knows he cant handle other viewpoints other than his own, then i suggest he leave the show and go back to Britain where journalist hack into peoples phone.he is is a disgrace to Larry king,to CNN,and i suggest CNN should do something about this embarrassment he caused ,the gun lobbyist should demand an apology.

The gun lobbyist was an absolute moron, it's stupid, idiotic people like that that are the cause of all the gun murders and massacres in your country NOT the mother for not locking up her weapons and not because teachers aren't armed with weapons in schools. What the fuck is America? A 3rd world backward country that loves war, loves it's guns and loves using them? You're a country at war with yourselves, people don't need to come to America and cause terrorist acts, you're all quite happy killing each other, carrying a weapon like your gangstas in a movie. AND YOU WANT MORE WEAPONS ON YOUR STREETS AND IN YOUR SCHOOLS??????????? Idiots, I feel sorry for all the innocent children who have to die because Americans want to own guns, guns they don't fucking need but want like they're toys.
The world looks at you and thinks your a bunch of morons, high debt, high unemployment, high rate of homelesness, high crime rates, the worst health care system in the developed world. And instead of making changes you sit there with your heads in the sand, your suppose to lead the nations, instead our countries learn what NOT to do thanks to America……

As a mother and preschool teacher this tragedy has hit home harder than I could ever imagine. I am a Democrat and consider myself to have extremely liberal views. I have never even held a firearm and would never dream that I could agree with the views of anyone who supports the NRA. However due to the columbine, aurora and now the sandy hook shooting maybe it is time to reconsider having armed guards in schools. Sadly the world is changing and not for the better. Stricter gun control continues to be an issue and our government has not yet been able to get a hold on it. The time just may have come no matter how sad it is that we do have to be a little more proactive and protect our children and ourselves. I am uncomfortable when strangers walk past our school playground and am back to watching my tween kids get off the bus in fear of what may happen. So sad for our next generation. To the people of Sandy Hook our hearts bleed for you, your personal loss must be so unbearable I couldn't even try to imagine. I fear the innocence of the next generation is lost and if it takes armed guards in our school to protect them in this cruel changing worl the maybe we should truly consider it. As the old phrase goes fool me once shame on yu fool me twice shame on me!!!!

  50. 50

As long as we don't allow guns like that in Canada I say…good luck to you all

  51. 51

What country are you from? And why are we supposed to lead nations? If, as you said, the world looks down on us? A lot of twisted logic in your comment! Maybe you are the moron!

  52. 52

The worst health care system in the world? Is that why wealthy people travel the globe to receive care here? You are typical of a person who envies America, because of our freedoms, and because we have a free society we suffer sometimes tragic losses. But if I could choose to be a child being born anywhere in the world, I would chose the US. Would you choose your country?

  53. 53

Larry Pratt is a fucking idiot but we don't treat guests like Piers Morgan did…
We shoot'em and Pratt needed to be shot, not yelled at.

  54. teeter totter says – reply to this

I could get behind the idea of an armed guard easily (my mom was a teacher and taught mostly 2nd grade). The idea of teachers having guns is not realistic. Under the NRAs own guidelines, the guns would have to be kept locked up (so the kids could not get to them) and the ammo kept separately. I do not know how long this shooting took, but it just does not seem like a practical idea to me.
And A, go to heck, you are free not to visit our country. I own a gun for protection as I live in a working class neighborhood with some gangs (not where I live). My apartment building, despite being a security building, has been broken into several times according to my former manager. So I will keep my gun and if anyone ever breaks in, be sure to shoot them dead and not injure them. Will keep the damages down.

  55. 55

The NRA should be charged as an accomplice to murder. An accomplice is a person who actively participates in the commission of a crime, even though they take no part in the actual criminal offense. The NRA trains members and encourages killing. 49% of mass killing shooters had legally obtained weapons.

  56. A says – reply to this

Yes I would choose my country Australia over the good old US of A. You think you're free? No you are far from free, you have to sleep and walk around with guns to protect yourselves from your own neighbours. Keep defending your gun laws and your want to own such weapons, but then don't wonder why your children are being mass murdered. How you even feel safe with them at school now is beyond me.
At least your president is 'finally' considering changing some laws, has spoken out against the american gun culture and has said you have to at least TRY something different. It's a pity it's taken so many of your childrens lives though, it should have happend after the first mass shooting, maybe all those children wouldn't have had to suffer like that.
Piers Morgan got upset because this person is lying, doesn't know actual statistics and spreads this message so other stupid, ignorant people believe it and support it, meanwhile, kids are going to school and getting shot to death. At least do your own research and form your own opinions, see how gun laws work in other countries, the smart people in your country do just that and support gun restrictions……..

  57. BetsyJM says – reply to this

I so agree with Piers — normally I'd say a journalist should remain calm and unbiased, but this is an outrageous tragedy with heavy emotion behind it. The notion of arming teachers is beyond ludicrous and shows the lack of connectedness, the self-centeredness, and the love of guns over peace this very mature (sadly) man conveys.

  58. 58

I'm really tired of all the hate directed towards the USA after this sad tragedy. Not one poster that has ignorantly and wrongly stereotyped us lives in a country void of school shootings. Australia has had a couple. Canada has had many. I don't recall Americans belittling or condemning your country or citizens after those. Have some empathy people, and show those 26 innocent souls the respect they deserve. If you continue to use this tragedy as a vehicle to spout your hate and moronic diatribe, you're a hypocrite that should be ashamed of yourself.

You live in fear of each other so you want to carry more guns. Perhaps if you spent the time educating yourself on your own country's history instead of bashing another country during their time of grief, you wouldn't come across as an ignorant hypocrite. You're also wrong in stereotyping us by saying none of us are free and all living in fear, therefore wanting to carry more guns. What we are is saddened by the loss of innocence and disgusted by those that say such heartless and callous statements like yours.

  70. 70

THIS GUY DOES NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT GUNS, GUN LAWS OR GUN STATISTICS. HE HAS NEVER EVEN HANDLED OR FIRED A FIREARM. But yet he runs his mouth like he knows everything. This guy is the biggest twat on TV now. At 1:01 when he is giving the states, he fails to mention how out of that many guns and people we have such a low gun crime rate. We have had 7 mass shootings that gained huge media attention in 25 years. Are people stupid?

  71. 71

that whole "you don't need X, there's no justification for needing that for self defense" A gun is a gun regardless. Someone with 3 10rd standard magazines is no different than a man with an AR-15 with a 30rd mag. Someone can carry two pistols and have 28 rounds and reload them quickly. 100rd drum mags are notoriously unreliable and JAM out the ass. Something an actual gun owner would know. Jame Holme's gun suffered multiple jams because of it. Restricting anything will not stop this problem. There's too many in circulation. With basic knowledge you can actually MAKE homemade magazines if it came down to it.

  72. 72

The worst part is the fail logic in wanting ARs banned. That would just ban semi-automatic rifles. So you would actually need to ban large magazines. 30+ and reduce the legal limit down to 10rds..Banning the gun itself is pretty stupid. What is easier to conceal and bring into a crowded place? A pistol or a frigging rifle? When someone uses a rifle, their chances of getting spotted by someone is so much greater than someone having a concealed pistol. This makes no sense to me. I could have just as easily carried in 2 pistols with 4 magazines and had the same amount of ammo as him, but reducing my chances of getting seen with it. DUMB DUMB DUMB anti-gunners who lack critical thinking skills.

  73. taylor90 says – reply to this

The guy is right. The media doesn't show the numerous times things like this are actually stopped due to a responsible gun user taking action against the suspect. If more people had guns, maybe other people would be more hesitant to try any of this. This isn't about guns, it's about the people are society has created. It's a sad realization, but no set of gun control laws will ever stop these acts of violence. Criminals do not, and will never follow laws, that's why they're criminals. Banning guns will be just as effective as the prohibition and the war on drugs… there will always be access, legal or not.

  74. mia says – reply to this

Are you people completely missing the point? all this if teachers had guns then the man would never have been able to kill all of those people? NO if laws were put in place that illegalised guns then the man would not have had or know how to use one in the first place.

Perez, manufactures are not making guns so innocent children can be killed with them. Get your fact straight. An idiot killed those beautiful children.

Less than 2-3% of crimes in the USA are committed with semi-automatic rifles.

Semiautomatic An autoloading action that will fire only a single shot for each single function of a trigger.

BTW: Morgan has worn out his welcome. I lived in England and they have more than their fair share of problems. He needs to go back there and rant. See how far that gets him.

Since the shooter is dead, no one will ever know if the issue had to do with guns or mental problems. If someone at the school, a teacher or guard had a gun, they could have stop the shooter, sooner than the five minutes or so, that is took for the police to get there.
Even 5 minutes is not fast enough.

  82. 82

Lets say that all teachers start carrying guns. One day the teacher (a human being and therefore NOT perfect) does not lock the gun up properly or some thug takes it from them… talk about putting guns in the schools is ridiculous. There would definitely be issues that arise from the guns being taken away by upset/psychotic kids. Up security in schools. Have bullet proof glass for the secretaries and only allow certain individuals to get buzzed in. We can't take guns away completely but we can prepare for them.

Piers Morgan is a liberal British pansy who has his head firmly planted up his ass. Nobody takes him seriously, except a retard like YOU, ape face. STFU. You wouldn't know "reason" if it jumped up and bit off your teeny, stinky peen. Loser.

The NRA are insane. This Larry 'Pratt' guy has obviously been given some money in yet another disgusting US corrupt deal so that he is ridiculously pro-guns. From what I know, the second amendment states that you have a right to defend yourself with "ARMS", not just "GUNS". So, should people have bazooka's in their homes as well? Should kids be allowed to carry weapons to defend themselves from pedophiles? Surely then, if someone has a mental illness, they would still have the right to defend themselves? Why would their disability mean they shouldn't "defend" themselves like everyone else? And mental illness is supposed to affect nearly 1 third of the population at some time during their lives, so how could you tell what might happen? And Piers is just stating what all of us in the rest of the World is thinking about your subliminally mind-fucked country. If there wasn't any money to be made from guns, then this problem wouldn't exist! Are you all blind? These gun-lobbyists don't give a fuck about your right to defend yourself, or even for the poor children who were murdered, all they care about is the $$$.

Fuck Piers and his British Monarch agenda!! This guy is a criminal. This Brit should shut his fucking mouth and go back to Britain where he and the queen can die together. Fuck both of them.

Are you people serious? I can't even believe you're not taking Piers' side. He makes a legitimate argument… And I can't believe he states the gun men was "evil". Mental illness doesn't make an individual evil, it's an illness. Ignorant americans is the reason why you have so many problems. The second someone comes in with an opinion that opposes yours- you kick them out. How are we suppose to grow and learn if we don't take everyone's opinions into consideration? How many murders and tragedies is it going to take until you realize that your government and laws aren't right? Pfft.
