The X Factor started off its finale with a heartfelt tribute to the victims of Newtown, Connecticut.
The singing competition brought back finalists to belt out Michael Jackson's You Are Not Alone with the top three contestants, Tate Stevens, Carly Rose Sonenclar, and Fifth Harmony.
The musical dedication began with a message from the show's creator and judge, Simon Cowell.
"Words cannot describe what happened at Sandy Hook Elementary last week. We are all deeply saddened by the tragedy and our hearts go out to the families. you will always be in our prayers and you will always be in our hearts.”
And dressed in angelic white, one by one Arin Ray, Diamond White, CeCe Frey, Paige Thomas, Jennel Garcia, Vino Alan, and Emblem3 appeared on stage to sing with the final three, along with a choir of children.
Behind the performers, a list of the victims glowed on the screens usually used for visual effects, with a final message: "You are not alone. We are here with you."
