More shocking and heartbreaking information is coming out of this truly sad Christmas Eve news story.
As we reported earlier, four firefighters were gunned down at the scene of a massive New York house fire, leaving two of them dead and the other two hospitalized, while another off-duty police officer was left injured.
Rochester police are now saying that the alleged assailant, who also died, may have set the fire as a trap to lure the firefighters out, only to take aim at them as they were leaving their vehicles to respond to the fire.
Since the deadly gunfire prevented them from extinguishing the flames, SWAT teams were called in to the evacuate all the homes in the area. Just a few hours after the initial call was made, four houses had been engulfed by flames.
Choking back tears, Police Chief Gerald Pickering confirmed that, "It does appear that it was a trap that was set."
No word yet on what kind of gun was used in the shooting, but all we have to say is that this has to stop NOW.
All we can do is pray for their families and hope for much-needed gun control. Too many innocent people are being gunned down - it's time for a change!!
