We're not so sure how to feel about this...
Tom Cruise may be taller than a hobbit
- not by much, mind you - but this weekend, our friends from Middle Earth towered above the A-list star…in the weekend box office!
After having the largest-ever December debut, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey continued strong for the second time, making an estimated $36.7 million between Friday and Sunday!
And THAT, friends, brings their domestic total to $150 million!
Jack Reacher, meanwhile, came in second with only $15.6 million…and Paul Rudd's This Is 40 followed close by with $12 million, making it the smallest-ever Judd Apatow-directed debut!
But honestly, what could they have expected?
Peter Jackson's adaptations of J.R.R. Tolkien is a STAPLE for the holiday season, after all!
