Piers Morgan Vows To Deport Himself If Americans Don't Wise Up On Gun Reform

piers morgan self deportation gun reform

Once again, newsman Piers Morgan offers up as much common sense on gun control as his audiences care to feast on.

Not only is the British journalist unafraid of the circulating petition gun lobbyists are backing to evict him from these United States, but the anchor is considering departing on his own terms.

In summary of a long and thoughtful letter to an English newspaper, he wrote:

"I can spare those Americans who want me deported a lot of effort by saying this: If you don’t change your gun laws to at least try to stop this relentless tidal wave of murderous carnage, then you don’t have to worry about deporting me… I would… seriously consider deporting myself."

Yikes!

We understand his point, but we'd hate to see one of the last arbiters of firearm sanity pack their bags and get the eff out.

Then again, the man has small children. Unless our country takes steps to protect them, we can assuredly empathize with his uncertainty regarding the prevalence of guns in and around his kids' schools.

Hopefully the national debate in wake of the Sandy Hook shootings will lead to a common sense reform of our nation's firearm policies.

Then see you later! This is a communist country, we have a right to our second amendment. If you don't like it maybe you might like North Korea, I heard they have great gun control!

  2. 2

That's fine. Mind you it was HIS country we revolted against in the 18th century. Please, let the door hit you on your way out.

  3. 3

    Leave already

  4. 4

Well I guess it's bye bye to Piers. So long fare well.

Use to love Larry KIng, this guy is arrogant and annoying. The show has never been the same since he got in. He needs to leave just for being an a@@hole.

I don't see how all these comments can be so hating on him. He makes perfect sense. Our country is great, but not in every way. Why can't people see that? We have more violent crimes than any other civilized country AND the most guns of any civilized country. It's a no-brainer, people. We need more gun control, more education about how to be a responsible gun owner for those who already have them, more mental health education, more parenting and a host of other things. Piers is just doing what he feels is right. FYI-when the 2nd ammendment was conceived, this country was an entirely different place. Some rules need to be updated to fit the new world we live in today - a diverse country with a population of over 330 million people. People should always be more important than guns.

  8. 8

Just because you don't like this guy doesn't mean he isn't right. Gun control is not THE answer to our problems, but it is certainly PART of the answer. There needs to be gun control, mental health safeguards, and most of all - a change in how guns are portrayed in society. IT will take at least a generation to see change, but we have to start somewhere.

You are so right MJ. The real gun owners would agree that weapons of mass destruction and large ammunion clips should be banned. If they own guns for hunting or for protecion then they don't need this type of weapon.

Its almost time to invade this GERMANIC ROYAL family attemping a 27th coup on the United States. My dick is hard, thats how much I cant wait to fry this 'Royal Family' in a court of law. Death to the Windsors by removal of ALL their wealth back to the state (the people) and then on to end ROME's reign over this planet NOW!!!

If this is what the Royals and Bankers and Rome want to do by causing civil war in the United States, it ain't going to look like what you fuck Royals THINK it will look like.

    Just say the word….

    Re: bizarro windsors
Erm, huh???? Bit odd and twisted!?!
To some of the above comments, don't be so defensive and turn this into a Britain v America thing. He's entitled to an opinion, you don't have to agree but don't be so defensive about it. He's not insulting your country, doubt he'd live there if he didn't like it. Alot of people all over the world have an opinion on Americas drug laws, these aren't attacks, just opinions, which we all have a right to. I've seen a lot of people spit there dummies out and bring up random bs about the British and history, why?? Bit pathetic really.

  16. 16

Oh, and go back to England to face charges in the phone hacking scandal?
I honestly don't like all of the "English" accents on American television, and when they start criticizing a culture that is not their own, they have stepped over the line.
Go home, to your stratified mean culture, and return to your life as a bottom feeder, unlike your elevated status and success in the US.

  17. 17

    Re: Lady Says
To correct myself don't know why I put 'drug laws' meant gun, oops! :)

  18. 18

The problem is, they aren't talking about "regulations" they are talking about flat out bans. Sorry morons that have never even handled a gun, but a ban of an AR or extended magazines will not reduce crime. Will not reduce mass shootings and will not reduce the causalities of said shootings. ARE PEOPLE FORGETTING WE HAD AN ASSAULT WEAPONS BAN IN 94 - 2004 BY CLINTON? Morons. That ban was useless, it had no positive or a negative effect.

  19. 19

Another problem is, most anti-gunners, much like this moron knows NOTHING about firearms, firearm laws, firearm statistics, have never shot one or even handled one. They have NO knowledge or experience but yet here they are, trying to argue with people that's been around and shooting guns before they even left their dad's wang.

  20. 20

    Re: catherine marchiano

Yeah lets ban Larger clips and pray the shooters cannot put in another one

  22. 22

In 2010, unintentional firearm injuries caused the deaths of 606 people. From 2005-2010, almost 3,800 people in the U.S. died from unintentional shootings. Over 1,300 victims of unintentional shootings for the period 2005–2010 were under 25 years of age.

It's clear that Piers is the only one in the USA who cares about stopping gun violence; everyone else in the USA is pro-gun, pro-murder, pro-stupidity. It is sad that Morgan is the only one who cares about stopping violence; he deserves all the ratings and bonuses he gets for standing alone on this important and unpopular issue.

    24

the 2nd Amendment was made with the idea that citizens should have the same weapons as the govt so they can protect themselves. Get a clue….most gun crimes happen in areas with the strictest gun control. and what about about all this education for legal gun owners you suggest? millions of legal gun owners in America did NOT have firearms accidents today…nor did they use their guns illegally…..legal gun owners are not the problem…..Also, Piers claims more laws will prevent gun crime. Isn't phone hacking a crime? It being illegal did not stop him from doing it….

Re: A – Thanks I agree, used to love Larry King. Only watched this guy a few times, not anymore. As a senior female who lives alone, I keep a pistol for protection. Even though I live in a security building, people get in from time to time. Not too often, as most of the tenants will challenge people they do not recognize but it only takes one or two careless people holding the door open for someone else they do not know.

Also, not sure where some of you live, but when my late husband and I wanted to go quail hunting in Southern California (actually near the Colorado River) we had to first attend a 6 to 8 hour NRA hunter safety course before we could apply and pay for our licenses.

  27. 27

Piers can go back to England, and Lara Logan can return to South Africa. Lara Logan should never have been a foreign correspondent, and she shouldn't be on 60 minutes, broadcasted by CBS, an American Company, with her accent, I can't stand it!

  28. 28

There is a petition you can sign to have him deported at whitehouse.org

  29. 29

    Please go. Now!

    Re: MJ
When the Bill of Rights was ratified (December 15,1791) this country was, indeed, a different place. The Constitution is the benchmark by which we conduct the business of the country. Who gets to choose to not only change the 2nd Amendment but the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 8th, 13th, 15th, 19th, . The only Amendment repealed, to my knowledge, is the 18th (prohibition). That repeal required an Amendment, 21st, enacted by a long arduous, but ultimately fair and inclusive, process.
I don't want Obama, Boehner, Pelosi, McConnell, Reid, or any other President, Senator or Representative abridging my rights.

Hey Piers, guns don't kill people. People kill people. And with Connecticut having some of the strictest gun laws in the country, obviously the laws and the guns are not the issue. It's the fact that people ignore signs of a dangerous person.

  35. 35

    Re: pdxgirl
Hah, and where would you be without us darling! Think what you like about Brits, but at least we're not Americans whom the whole world tends to think poorly of.

    36

Piers should have tried Canadian media first. He could have watched and learned where the cultural gaffe lines were down south and where they were not. He's truly crossed it with a lot of people. The constitution made the U.S. truly great for a lot of years. Guns aren't the problem vis a vis the economy. Corruption, deregulation and lobbyists are.

Re: Lady Says – Actually, he technically *isn't* entitled to his opinion! He's a foreign national here in our country subverting our Constitution. His opinion on our Constitution is not protected; in fact, it's not welcomed and is ILLEGAL.

And you people calling for gun control need to remember that Constitution yourselves.

The Second Amendment (behind only free speech and the thought police!) is not here for home defense, and it's definitely not here for hunting. It's here so that we can protect ourselves from any invasion, foreign or aggressive domestic. It's in place so that We The People can protect that Constitution ourselves in the event that our government cannot or will not, or is even the one perpetrating against it. The ONLY reason that Pearl Harbor was ALL we got from Japan was because they knew there would be "a rifle behind every blade of grass" and they would lose to The People - NOT to our organized military… a military which happens to currently be spread as thin as paper fighting wars across the globe right now.

Assault rifles and "weapons of war" absolutely DO belong in the hands of American citizens!

And what's more, guns are used in self defense and for purposes other than murder a hell of a lot more than not. You just don't see the media sensationalizing those situations. See for yourself:

    Re: Ron

Wow. Ron. 3,800 accidental deaths in 5 years from guns. During that same time 150,000 suicides.

Mental illness is the issue, not gun control.

  39. 39

…sorry guy, gunning down little kids is acceptable here….
