Jennifer Lawrence: Acting Is 'Stupid!'

Jennifer Lawrence is not impressed with her profession!

In fact, the Golden Globe nominated actress thinks acing is "stupid" — especially when compared to other jobs.

In a recent interview, the Hunger Games starlet told reporters how she really feels about her line of work, confessing:

"Not to sound rude, but [acting] is stupid. Everybody’s like, ‘How can you remain with a level head?’ And I’m like, ‘Why would I ever get cocky? I’m not saving anybody’s life. There are doctors who save lives and firemen who run into burning buildings. I’m making movies. It’s stupid.’”

Okay, cool you're not getting too full of yourself. We can get on board with that.

Still, Jen is wowed by her acting idols!

She admits that there is at least one actress that deserves the respect and praise she gets:

“Once I’m obsessed with somebody, I’m terrified of them instantly. I’m not scared of them—I’m scared of me and how I will react. Like, for instance, one time someone was introducing me to Bill Maher, and I saw Meryl Streep walk into the room, and I literally put my hand right in Bill Maher’s face and said, ‘Not now, Bill!,’ and I just stared at Meryl Streep."

HA!!

It should be noted that Mz. Lawrence has still yet to meet Meryl. So far she has just "stared at her creepily." LOLz!

I don't see anything wrong with her comments, she is right, compared to jobs where people save live like doctors and fire fighters, in comparison acting is stupid. I can play pretend too, but that is not as important as doing good deeds or saving a life

Ha!!…love her so much. Lawrence is not disrespecting the profession…she is putting everything into perspective. Imagine all that sucess at such a young age?, with people on the payroll hired to just tell you how wonderful, gorgeous, perfect you are?…Lawence is real, there's no bullshit about her and it's freaking wonderful.

I get what she's saying. People act like actors and actresses are the most important, greatest people in the world. When it's people who literally save others that deserve the fame and praise.

I can't decide whether to like Jennifer more for this comment or find her dumb for making comments like this. Yes, it shows how she puts things into perspectives, but I really don't like the way she worded it. If acting is stupid, why is she doing it? It's like she's calling herself stupid, and putting down all other actors in the process. She can call fame stupid, but not acting itself.

On topic, I have not seen the movie, saw a preview and it did not look at all like the type of movie I enjoy but I know a lot of people love it. Frankly I do not see her winning an award, except maybe People's Choice.

she's right. she makes sense. she has a point.

@pollopicu oh please put a lid on it. she's merely telling cocky celebs to get over themselves because they're not doctors and saving lives. acting is for entertainment. she never said she didn't love it. she merely said it's stupid. i'm a designer. i love the work. but i think it's stupid as hell as i've seen cocky designers and they have nothing to be bragging about.

Excuse me, «crazy fans», but Jennifer Lawrence said «acting is stupid», she didn’t said «Fame is stupid». So if her intention was to say that all the attention famous people receive is «stupid» she should have used other words to express her opinion. Otherwise, of course people will misjudge her. It sounds like she’s saying being an actress is pointless comparing to doctors because artists don’t save anyone’s lives. Well, let’s all of us, artists (actors, painters, writers, photographers, dancers, sculptors, designers, architects, cinema and theatre directors), resent to the fact that, according to this young lady, we are stupid and have no social contribution. And there is not even a degree in History of Art or anything. Go fuck yourself, Jennifer!
