| Filed under: TV NewsRyan Murphy

Aliens, sanity, monsters, ghosts, demons, murder…

The aforementioned subjects plus OH so many more classical and not-so-traditional horrors have been explored in seasons 1 and 2 of Ryan Murphy's American Horror Story anthology…

So what could possibly be the central plot to the third installment in this terrifying mini-series?!?!

Well, we won't have to wait too much longer to find out, because Mr. Murphs is slipping in a sneaky clue about the third season for savvy viewers to find in TONIGHT's episode called The Name Game!

Ryan recently expressed:

"It’s not done like it was last year. It’s a different kind of clue. You really have to be quick and watch. I made sure to put it in there for the fans because I know people loved that last year, figuring it out."

During the 11th episode of the first season, Ryan snuck in a reference to the asylum-based plot of the most current season…

When Sarah Paulson's psychic character talks of how certain places, such as ASYLUMS and prisons, can harbor evil energy!

Eeeee we are SHIVERING with excitement!

Tate's son. Something just felt unfinished. Hopefully they'll circle back to that and bring back the Tate and Violet characters.

Songs on the jukebox. Put a spell on you and love potion #9. Could it be witches/ Salem. Or New Orleans. Or. Peppers speech about side show freaks are my guess

Re: Billy – Yes! That's exactly what I came up with . As soon as I started singing "I put a spell on you" in my head when it came on the jukebox it hit me . I really think we will see witches next season.

This is AMERICAN Horror, it can`t be Rome or the Vatican. Oliver said Sister Mary Eunice knew how to untie "slip knots". Slip knots are found on ships. Jessica Lange also said in an interview when Season 3 was confirmed that she how they don't "sink the ship".

    hope I'm right!

As soon as she played "I put a spell on you" on the jukebox I knew that had to be it. I really think we will see witches next season!

It's definitely witches. In "The Name Game" the first song played is "I'll Put A Spell On You" and it is slightly loud for background music compared to the rest of the episode. I would say Witches, dating back extremely far. Maybe Salem?

Re: jaime – Jamie, slip knots are also used to hang people (i.e. criminals or witches). I have a feeling this will be in reference to the early American settlement days, the time of the Salem Witches. There has to be a witchcraft element to it all in order for it to be supernatural.

Google "Inverted Totalitarianism" for an interesting read.

Sorry, folks, hit enter too quickly.
Go to Wiki, have a quick look at Inv. T and think about our current political and socio-economic unrest.
And then think about Beyonce and Pepsi.
And then think about Proctor & Gamble.
(And then of course, consider the machine which is Hollywood.)
Ever thought to yourself, "Ahhh, why vote? It never really matters anyway."
Read up on Inverted Totalitarianism, and find out WHY.
    Take care,

    Re: Brad
I don't watch this show, but judging by your comment:
"There has to be a witchcraft element to it all in order for it to be supernatural," you are uninformed about actual witches. Please allow me to express some truth.
There are many witches who are alive today. They live and work in your neighbourhoods, and they contribute to society in the same normal ways that you do.
They are not supernatural, nor are they evil.
Not all of them do spells. (And not all spells are evil, either.)
Most witches revere and honour the cycles and duality of nature, and love and revere both a God and a Goddess, and have nothing to do with Satanism.
    Kindly google "Wicce" and/or "Wicca."
And if this show attempts to portray "witches" as anything BUT, it's a fucking lie.
Hollywood has been doing this for years, thanks to ignorance, disrespect, fear, and judgement. Don't be fooled.

    Re: Jennifer
    Dear Jennifer:

You stated the problem yourself: you don't watch this show. If you did, you would realize that this conversation is about a Sci-Fi / Horror show on TV - i.e. complete FICTION!
Fiction - much like "witches", "spells", "religion", "gods", "Santa Claus", "boogie monster", or universality of "good" and "evil", etc.
It's just a great show: it seems predictable at first and then gets all kinds of twisty.

  19. Mike Deloit says – reply to this

Re: Jennifer – nobody gives a shit about the fake witches of today that are more often than not just dungeons and dragons nerds who watch too much anime. They're not even worth acknowledging. We are clearly referring to the witches of mythology that are actually powerful and not just unemployed losers.

hope season 3 will be better than the current season. i dont hate it, but im not too excited about it, a little disappointed even..

  21. Ams says – reply to this

There is an author named Judy Martin who wrote a book called " the witches party" definitely witches….

  22. Katie says – reply to this

At first I thought like "side show, freak show" theme when pepper was talking about freaks. But the I put a spell on you song really made me believe it's gonna be about witches! I hope that's it. Id love to see what they can do with a new Orleans, voodoo, witch plot! At first the side show thing sounded cool but bring on the witch craft! So pumped for next season!

  23. LangeFlanger says – reply to this

It either has something to do with witches or a funeral parlor.

  24. Arran White says – reply to this

So maybe the clue was 'i put a spell on you'? I dunno. Ryan Murphy said to *WATCH* for it. So like when Jessica Lange is all frazzled and puts a song on the jukebox, there is a song called 'On the South Side of Chicago' and in an interview Jessica Lange said something about 'sink the ships'. Slip knots where also mentioned. So in Chicago there is this tour thing called Tall Ship Red Witch. Tall ships are like the pirate ships. Ryan Murphy also said something about 'evil glamor', that could mean MERMAIDS! I dunno, I'm maybe reading to much into it. I do HOPE witches are involved though.

  25. duh says – reply to this

seriously people? for all of you saying Rome or the Vatican I question your intelligence. it's called AMERICAN Horror Story, not World Horror Story. The story takes place in AMERICA!

Re: Mike Deloit – lmao. You're right. Don't forget fat, homely, unemployed, single too.

  27. Kristin says – reply to this

Definitely spells. buuut there are witches spells ans voodoo spells. I'd like to see a modern replay of the Salem Witch trials… with teenage girls accusing a hot "new in town" woman of being a witch.

Re: Nomad – Don't suggest such a ridiculous thing about Santa!

  30. jessica says – reply to this

nooooo he said its a different type of clue. in the first season the clue was spoken, it has to be some sort of visual clue ..
