Taylor Swift Ironically Beats Les Miserables On The U.S. Album Charts!!

This has to be the sweetest form of revenge!

Taylor Swift has beat out the movie that turned her down!!

That’s right!! Taylor Swift’s Red has predictably won its seventh nonconsecutive week at the top of the U.S. album charts, overshadowing the just-released, globally celebrated Les Misérables soundtrack.

This marks the end of the 2012 record sales year with Tay Tay's fourth album selling 241,000 copies while Les Mis sold 136,000.

..And Swifty didn't even have a Christmas release date to help boost sales.

mAYBE director Tom Hooper is second guessing his casting decision for Eponine now! (Probably not, though. Samantha Barks = GENIUS!)

No matter how talented Taylor may or may not be in the acting arena, her universal popularity is not something to be underestimated!!!

You really don't seem to like Samantha Barks. Seriously? Sam will ALWAYS blow Taylor out of the water. That's why she was chosen for Eponine. Taylor can't act and she definitely can't sing. You may say Sam is genius, but you still have yet to give her the credit she actually deserves. Screw you.

241 thousand copies of her album sold, and the girl CAN"T sing! Only in America!

    …….

I am getting pretty tired of hearing that type of thing when it comes to Taylor Swift. Seriously…. think about who, exactly who (the demographic) put her there. Does their opinion really matter? Is it mature enough to have developed a sense of good taste yet?

Ya know, I haven't looked up any stats on who buys this stuff, I think I have a good idea, but I would be shocked if a large number of the people, like even over 10% of who buys her music are people over the age of 20. That's really all that matter in my opinion. It's very "simple" music. It's the type of music that I personally would find very, very boring and unfulfilling (boring) to play, musically.

She holds the card of the children, there are many of them, and that is why Taylor is where she is. I would feel "wrong" if that were me, and my career was where hers is, only because of kids. It's like not being taken seriously.

From an adult perspective, she sucks, whether she or you believe it or not.

You know the largest demographic who are buying her music are the 18 to 35 year olds. so weather you like it or not she is well like by both adults and kids. People can relate to her words.

Re: WOW – Really? Where did you get this, exactly? Seriously, answer that or point me in the direction of it, because if you look at video's of her concerts, all I see are teenage girls…. That's it, that's all. No grown man, and hardly a grown woman out there on this earth is gonna buy a Taylor Swift CD, throw it in his/her car radio and rock out. I don't give a fuck what you say. My Aunt LOVES music her whole life, early 40's. Sings better than her…. doesn't know Taylor Swifts music, barely knows who she is.

To go off topic a bit….

I just read a question asked to her friend Selena Gomez, who I also can’t fn stand…. Someone asked her what inspires her stupid ass. Her response?…..

I get inspired by stories that I’ve seen and lived…..

Look kid…. BET INSPIRED BY GOOD MUSIC, AND MAYBE YOURS WON’T SUCK SO MUCH DICK!? I don’t know….. that’s the way music used to work when it was good? It’s was a great formula, you should try it????

As a teacher, I can safely say that her demographic is 10 - 15 year old girls. No guys would be caught dead buying her album. Most 17-18 year old girls have also moved on.

Mediabase has Taylors trouble song at #1 for females 18 to 34 and #13 on adult contemporary overall.

Taylor Swift gives me a headache……. and coincidentally so does her music.

Can someone explain to me how this 'end of 2012' sales works? Is this article suggesting that Les Mis sold over half of the amount that Red did in just five days (Christmas release?), whereas Red has been out for several months? Because I think that makes the Les Mis soundtrack more popular imo.

Re: Voivode – no, of course not Red had a 1,2 MILLION album sale on its first day. The biggest since 2002 and is still yet to be broken.

Actually, this is sad. It goes to show what a crap world we live in when stuff like this happens. I don't think you should be gloating about something like this. Plus, TS can't sing her way out of a paper bag so this is a reflection on society and in no way revenge.

Perez….You are an idiot. Tarlor Swift is tone deaf live and I am sure that is why she lost the part. GROW up you idiot.

Not fair to people who actually possess talent. and her music is so boring and simplistic in terms of lyrics and sound

  16. 16

I wish there were more posts about her working in place of CFerguson late nite once in awhile.
She is not as funny as he is, although, I imagine together, the interviews would be better
quality…But what do I know, I'd rather watch Joan Rivers..(but not in a dream state.)

Re: MB – I am 25 and I love Taylor Swift, your so-called taste is a matter of opinion. To me, she is very talented and her voice may not be the best but it has an eerie-ness and softness to it that I and her fan-base can agree on. She sings beautiful music.

  18. 18

further proof yanks have no fucking taste! This bitch writes juvenille lyrics and cant sing live to save her pathetic life. And she a cradle snatcher too!

Taylor Swift is my idol. Yes, you're right that she didn't have a strong voice. But still, she can sing and his voice is very different. She can sing live because I watch her performance. I bought 5 RED and each of my friend got one. It is my Christmas gift. They also love Taylor Swift. I'm not from US. So, that means she is a worldwide phenomenon. Les Miserables??? Do we need to buy their cd's and watch the movie?? That's ____. .

Sorry but Taylor Swift CAN'T SING! She already sounds awful enough but when she sings live it's dreadful to listen to.

Sorry but TAYLOR SWIFT CAN'T SING! She is dreadful to listen to live, and is completely tone deaf, I guess that all the people who like her don't know what a good voice is. Also I am a teenager not an adult.

Come on. Really? Thanks to people who talk like this, laughing at things that aren't Taylor Swift, some of her fans (like me) are getting upset. Actually, I like Taylor Swift. She writes beautiful lyrics and you can identify with her songs. But you can't compare her with a huge musical like Les Misérables. The quality speaks for itself! Les Misérables is one of the best thing that has EVER been written. LesMis and Taylor Swift don't have the same intention, don't try to go until the same quality.
And yes, Sam is far better than Taylor. Even when Swift is my favorite pop singer, I think she would totally destroy Éponine's character. If she had been Éponine, I think I would hate her right now.
And that's it. I strongly reccomend you not to laugh at things when you are giving your opinion. It makes you lose credibility.
