The Avengers Gets No Love In 2013: Most Overrated Of 2012

Avengers Overrated 2012

For a movie that ruled the box office in 2012, fans were apparently not happy with what they paid for.

The Avengers was determined to be the most overrated film of 2012 in a Los Angeles Times poll of people who don’t like to have fun more than 2,600 people.

The film garnered 85% of the vote with the second most overrated movie, Prometheus, coming in far behind with only 5%.

Did these people not like Scarlett Johansson in a tight catsuit? Or were they hating on Chris Hemsworth’s sexxxy hotness?

Maybe it was just director Joss Whedon voting over and over? Whatever the case may be, we do NOT agree!

While we ponder that, we’ll flip things around and reveal Bernie came in as the most underappreciated film of 2012.

Well, we won't argue there because we do love us some Jack Black.

But this whole poll sitch will not stop us from seeing The Avengers 2!

See you in 2015!

i guess i just don't understand who is voting for this.. first twilight saga is the worst movie ever? yet the box office says differently on all movies so people be lyin to themselves.. now the avengers is the most overrated? are you kidding? how much did they make during its entire run at the box office? A LOT. for real where do you get this stuff??

  3. 3

    I actually enjoyed the movie!

  4. 4

I loved the Avengers. The people surveyed in this poll have skewed opinions.

  5. 5

92 % of critics loved the movie
96 % of the moviegoers loved the movie.
    Rotten Tomatoes.

    It is overrated.

Its a great action movie and I loved it, but the characters and the script lack (in my modest opinion) layers. I see the Avengers and I am entertained by the heroes, but I don't see any of the characters as a role model nor do I suffer with them or share their joys, like I did with Nolan's Batman trilogy, for instance.

I guess it depends on what you want to see. If you want your action movies to be great action movies, then the Avengers are awesome. If you want your action movies to surpass their genre as something anyone can love, you need more than that.

Btw bitchsquad: box office doesn't equal quality. A good example of that is the Transformers movies. They made tons of money yet they suck.

Geez, this has been another really rotten year for movies. I used to go every week, now I have not been in over a year. Get the message producers and directors. Not everyone is in your target 18-25 audience. I am 60 and enjoy a good drama, comedy, romcom (no slapstick for me thanks ) and an occasional inidie or foreign film.

Umm, I don't think a single poll consisting of a such a small 2,600 people out of the tens of millions who watched it qualifies it as being considered one of the most overrated movies, simply because 2600 voted on it..LMAO.

Riiiight. I'm sure this is a poll voted on by people who aren't old enough to know how epic Joss Whedon is. I personally think this movie was great and i knew it was going to be great as soon as Whedon was chosen for it. Was it terrible because it didn't have romance crap in it? I bet that's a reason why they said that..my friend didn't like it because of that fact but that's actually why i loved it.
