Liberace Movie Called "Too Gay" By Every Studio But HBO!!!
HBO, we are SO glad you exist!
Can you imagine, in this day and age, that any studio would be afraid to snatch up a movie starring Michael Douglas and Matt Damon, based on Liberace, directed by Steven Soderbergh, because it's 'too gay?'
We're SHOCKED!
Here's what Steven said about what is going to be his final movie:
“Nobody would make it. We went to everybody in town. They all said it was too gay. And this is after ‘Brokeback Mountain,’ by the way, which is not as funny as this movie. I was stunned. It made no sense to any of us.”
HBO has some balls!
It would've been so sad had this movie not been made, especially for those reasons. Not only is it going to be a captivating story, but as Steven's last movie, we want him to hit his own timeline of retiring by 50.
His birthday is a week from today!
Hopefully the flick is a success so studios know that movies with gay content like this can work - though, you'd think they would've learned that after Brokeback Mountain!

"We're SHOCKED" and "It would have been so sad if this didn't get filmed" - Yeah OK. Let's be REAL! No studio or theater wanted it because they know NOONE (gay or straight) wants to see this sh*t! The ONLY reason HBO took it is because of Michael Douglas and Matt Damon. It won't be a success and once it airs you will never hear of it again, trust me.

I think the reason a major studio did not want to make the movie was because there are lots of nasty parts of Liberace's life, which will indeed put gays in a very bad light
Start off with he had AIDS , he went out and was having sex with unsuspecting victims,
many people believe that is what all gays do, along with drugs, & booze
Liberace kept denying he was gay,he should have come out and been proud, he was a coward
The only positive thing going for this movie is, we know it cant be as bad as Liz & Dick

I'm not shocked. Brokeback starred two hot, young guys and was groundbreaking. Two old gay, men and a story about Liberace probaky won't appeal to many audiences. If they thought they could make money off it they would've snagged it up in an instant. Hollywood has no morals and is a huge supporter of gay rights.
Steven Soderbergh isn't retiring for definite. He's just taking a sabbatical. When he said he was retiring he was being a bit rash, and has since taken it back.

I don't get HBO anyway, so won't be able to see it. It would have been fun to see the costumes though…..you know that Scott Thorson was using Liberace for all he had.
