I don't really understand this. Sure this show is funny, I've watched it many times and besides 'Sheldon' being one of the most annoying characters I have ever seen on a tv show, it's an 'ok' show. An OK show. Not the funniest. Sure it' popular but there is so many more shows with WITTY humour out there. And lots of it..so much more talent. A different kind of witty than what this show boasts.
I don't agree with this choice at all and I know there are a lot of people out there who feel the same.

About Sheldon being annoying… to each his own, of course.
I love his character; totally "get" him and where's he's coming from.
He's whimsical, emotionally-stunted yet brilliant, and lives entirely and happily in his own brain.
