Are you familiar with the ways of DDL? Wikipedia is your friend. After the award season he uses his acting prowess to become a ghost and disappears for about 3 years (he's just THAT method!) after which he pops up in a movie, gives a performance that makes almost every other actor realize how much they actually suck, gets a series of nominations, wins most of them, and then vanishes just as mysteriously as he reappeared waiting to start the cycle anew!! Thus is the magic of Daniel Day-Lewis… an unfairly gifted actor who's either a mutant or the greatest professional lair in the world… possibly both.
